The Beatles are singing/playing to the studio recording of the song, and the studio recording has an orchestra on it. That is not the orchestra from the David Frost Show... the orchestra you hear in the song is on the Beatles' studio recording of this song. What we hear in the video is a mix of the Beatles live and the original studio recording. In the same way, on the same episode of the David Frost Show, the Beatles are playing/singing along to the studio recording of "Revolution," a video that is also available on RUclips and very popular with reactors. It's easier to see that video is at least partly mimed, because you can hear voices when no one is near a microphone.
@@BobKovacs thank you for such an informative comment. Paul is singing live though right? Just not the others. Also yes im working on some Beatles content today. Appreciate you stopping by my channel.
@@IKillzUm Yes, Paul's mic is live (and possibly the piano mic is live as well), but most of Paul's voice comes from the studio recording. I assume the other mics are live as well, but John and George are seldom close enough to their mics for their voices to be picked up.
@@BobKovacs My understanding, Paul's vocals and the backing vocals were live. The Musician's union had a ban on miming at the time. The video is an edit of the two that were filmed. The vocals don't always sync.
@@debjorgo I've watched this video (Hey Jude) and Revolution many times. Paul's work here on Hey Jude is pretty good, but the others are WAY too sloppy with their mics for them to be doing anything other than miming. Revolution, in general, is much sloppier -- plus there is no one on stage playing the piano that sounds *exactly* like how Nicky Hopkins played in the studio version. That song HAS to be partially mimed, and it's my impression from watching Hey Jude that it was done the same way.
You mentioned during the second verse here that you could see the closeness they had or something like that when Paul's looking at John and making faces and John's making faces back and looking like what? John was supposed to sing that verse with Paul. 😂😂 The line in the song "The movement you need is on your shoulder" Paul always tells the story that in the studio he was presenting the song to John and Yoko and when he got to that line he told John "I'll change that, it's terrible" and John shot back with "Don't you dare, that's the best line in the song. I get it " The movement you need is on your shoulder". Paul says that was the great thing having John as a partner. Where I would have changed that line, John said no so I didn't". I think it's a great little line. The Beatles were incredible! They changed the world both in 7 short years between 1963-70 both musically and culturally. That will never happen again. Now I have to listen to this stupid BS, Taylor Swift, bigger than The Beatles. Really? So this is where we're at now. Peace ❤
Taylor Swift is fine. The Beatles are great pop music. What's the problem? You know, you don't have to have hatred in your heart for things just because you like another thing. One could say, what's the world coming to? We used to have Beethoven and Mozart, and now we have the Beatles. I'm sick of the Beatles bs. Back in my day, music was good! lol
As mentioned in another comment J and P are looking at each other at about 3.45 because John isn't singing, but about a min later 4.43 or so John does come in and P smiles at him (like - good. you remembered!).
Thanks for the reaction. You say you know "Get Back." That would be good. Some other songs I would suggest are "In My Life", Let It Be ", Eleanor Rigby", "I Saw Her Standing There" and "Help." There are so many more hits that the Beatles have, the list could go on. Thanks again.
Absolutely fantastic suggestions, i forgot about "help". That is a really good song. In my life and Eleanor rigby would be good because i have not heard those ever! thank you for commenting these great suggestions! i will get to them! Appreciate you robert taking time to drop some gems!
you and I both hope we can all find more peace. But here is the thing. This was released in Aug of 1968. In april of 1968 Martin Luther King was assassinated. In June Bobby Kennedy was assassinated. The streets were on fire. It was not all peace and love when this was released. But this song was a reflection of that yearning.
@@richardrobinson4020 thank you for this comment, i was not born until 1994 so thinking about the song from a current events stand point is hard & honestly i didn't even think about that.
Instead of The Beatles coming to David Frost studio David Frost brought his audience and his band to where the Beatles were recording and had this live on air episode of his show where the Beatles played.
Some critic wrote the Beatles were through because they had not released an album in 9 months and about 5 months since the Lady Madonna single in the USA. the Beatles release the single Hey Jude/Revolution kicked their ass down the stairs.ost successful single, 9 weeks at#1. LMAO.
The orchestra could be the studio orchestra of the David Frost show. It isn't mentioned anywhere and only has a visual role, to underline the epic scope of this 7-minute work. The music came from tape anyway, but the microphones were open. The audience of 300 people was partly invited to the show with leaflets and the other half was recruited from the Beatles fans, who surrounded the Abbey Road studio. The funny old man is Billy Davis, a street busker, who somehow managed to integrate himself into the Beatles' entourage during the filming of the Beatles film Magical Mystery Tour. The Beatles had generally always a soft spot for unusual contemporaries.
Actually, John mentioned in an interview that the Beatles were more 'popular' than Jesus. He was talking about the British youth would rather go to one of their concerts than attend church. When that interview managed to arrive in the US, it got distorted to 'bigger'....as people are wont to do.
That funny-looking old man with a flower standing next to Paul McCartney was a homeless man that was outside the studio that they invited inside to be part of the video.
1st song is the David Frost Show theme...tis was just a Beatles joke along with the very bad rendition It' s Now or Never" after David announced them "officially." it;s really funny today as I see reactors going "What? what's this? " and some don't get the humor, which makes it funnier to me. it was probably used for a promo for the show

@meherenowmaybe oh my ... I was merely agreeing with one of the comments previous... chill
A mantra. Some people get it and some don’t. Really good reaction. Very heartfelt.
Six minutes of" na na na na" and you will still go farther on....of course they are THE BEATLES !!!!!!!!!!
Only the Beatles could take what is essentially an elaborate fade out (the na na part), have it go on for several minutes, and you still want more!!
So sorry about your uncle ( Rip 🙏❤️😢Glad you like this legendary song and the Beatles.👍
Harmonies were the hallmark of 1960s music.

In June Bobby Kennedy was assassinated.

Everyone always acts at the beginning like it's the song, when the Beatles are just fucking around.

Yep...Big thumbs up for this!
I believe that was from a world wide live broadcast back in the early 60s.👍

Yes, and in those years if you attended Catholic Church, you had to sing in Latin!
Only Paul is performing live here. Everybody else's vocals and instruments were pre-recorded.
Since you know it, you could react to Paul composing and playing "Get Back" for the first time.
That funny-looking old man with a flower standing next to Paul McCartney was a homeless man that was outside the studio that they invited inside to be part of the video.

Get Back was my favorite too.
The Beatles refused to play to segregated audiences in the South during their USA tours...that speaks volumes about their character.
I mentioned this comment in my twist and shout video
Thank you bro. God bless you sir. Now do Let it be. Please. Hi from Texas.
You look kinda like a young MCCartney.

07:30 ….. Take a look at the girl in white checking out McCartney.
Wow, no kidding, you look like a young Paul Mccartney.
