When i first started playing tarkov, i played it like a horror survival game. i didnt play much at all, and a lot in the game felt overwhelming so i never did any quests at all. i would just watch loot run guides, and try to go through them, hiding, going slowly, killing scavs avoiding players. It was actually insanely fun! it was so intense and scary. After a while i broke through to questing and i played it a lot more. Still great fun, but different.

Gotta agree, I started towards the end of last wipe and put over 100 hours into the game within a week. This wipe I don't even think I've played for more than 2-4 hours, the sense of wonder is gone and I don't feel compelled to play more. The game feels more irritating than anything now.

Also, multiple scav boxes should be the first thing you spend your money on. A mill might seem expensive for new players, but the hassle it saves you in the long run is 100% worth it. Not sure I totally understand your point. If you get 2-3, you have options.
Edit: I think you mean if you have one you won't sell anything. But thing is, they kinda fill up quick if you busy alternating between scav/PMC raids, then 2-3 boxes lets you organise things for hideout and quests while also selling stuff you don't need. It's win win especially if it's literally the first thing you spend money on post wipe.
Edit 2: oh wait, sorry. I think I get you. If you throw everything in there then by pure chance you'll have stuff you need later on. Is that it? If so then yup, agreed 😊

12.x has only gotten worse with every update, my scav time was never like this in 11.8 or even 12.1 when the games popularity was at its peak. Welp interchange had 0 in the lobby and at night; still 25+ minutes and NO ENTRY.
The game needs a revamp they've gone way too hardcore with FIR and other market mechanics, it's just way more fun to have a free and open market, rather than regulated to certain items. Especially when the game is a bit p2w with the additions.

Maybe after "full" release aka never they'll add more rpg elements. Skills that are strictly passive I wouldn't count as rpg elements.

  • @kernelpickle
    @kernelpickle 2 года назад +9

I did exactly that. I got the standard edition back in early 2021, I got completely wrecked and I quit playing for a lengthy period of time. Then because I must be a masochist, or felt like I didn’t get my 40 bucks worth, I dipped my toes back in and did slightly better. I ended up resetting my account at that point once I realized that Scav rep was a thing, and mine was terrible. Apparently I didn’t have VoIP turned on, because if I had, I’m sure I would’ve heard the screams and disappointment in everyone I was shooting at.
Once I started getting a handle on not losing money. Never really generated a ton of money, but I could usually hover somewhere from 1 to 3 million rubles.
At that point it probably been a year since I made my original purchase, so I think I paid another 40 bucks and got one of the other upgraded versions.
Once I stopped sucking so hard at the game, and actually started having fun, I realized how much I hated grinding rep for traders and constantly spending hours of my time just trying to fit all my shit into my stash. That’s when I dropped probably another $40 to get the most expensive edition. According to the count in game it says I’ve put over 600 hours into playing, and most of that time was spent between January 2022 and like a month or two ago. I got kind of fed up when they decided to take away all the vendors and have all kinds of goofy events that really just made my life miserable, because I started late into the wipe. So, I wasn’t maxed out on my level with a stockpile of rubles and nothing better to do than get my ass kicked by the game in a different way. I was very much happy getting my ass kicked by the game in a very typical standard way. Now that the latest wipe has started and I’ve logged a few hours, and feel like I am not super far behind everybody, life is been pretty good.
They actually release all those DLC‘s and the arena, that should definitely keep me occupied for quite a while. I just like the way shooting things feels in this game. Whenever I played call of duty games I always liked playing on hard-core, because it was always about reaction time, and there wasn’t so much distraction with the heads up display. I could just focus on what I’m doing and listen for people around me, so I could shoot them in the face.
I don’t think I’ll ever go back to playing call of duty, unless somebody drags me along, because I do like to play with other people on occasion. If you ever enjoy playing hard-core free-for-all, this is the hardest core free-for-all ever. Or is it? Other than the occasional quest that asks you to commit murder for dubious reasons, there is nothing that says you have to go around shooting people. Once I figured out it was better to play as a Scav completely passive, I started making more money.
Another suggestion I would have for anyone who is new and as frustrated as I was trying to upgrade or modify my shitty guns. Don’t even bother until you unlock the flea market and the tool that allows you to save and edit weapon presets. This shit is entirely way too scattered throughout the vendor inventories, that you really won’t be upgrading a whole hell of a lot. You might want to figure out a couple of goons that have decent iron sights or figure out what sites you do have available that will bolt onto the guns that you can get access to, because it does help a lot. Then again, you can get a lot of mileage hip firing with a shotgun in this game.
The biggest thing to overcome is the disappointing feeling of losing a cool gun. Without fail, if I piece together a semi-decent loadout, I get tag teamed into a corner by guys with guns that just ignores my best armor and then I’m staring back over with nothing again. Whenever I grab a 9mm pistol and couple of clips of ammo, I get like 8-12 kills and waddle out of Factory with a ton of loot I can vend for some cash. Sometimes I get a little greedy and get caught out there trying fussing over which items I want, and I lose everything-which is a bummer if I have a rare item I needed for a quest or sometime, but I’m only out a pistol and some cheap ammo.

I only got 400ish hours on Tarkov, bought the base game and there are some things that honestly break the game for me and the friend I play with, the TLDR is, we basically skipped a wipe (the lighthouse one) because of issues with the game's performance, it's just impossibly inconsistent, starting there issues with stuttering when there's shots, while loading the map, checking the inventory, aiming and so on, those completely ruin the experience, my rig is okay, with a 5700 XT and a R5 3600 with 16GB of RAM and all SSD storage, but even then my fps is almost all of the time capped at 70, running low settings only with the draw distance at 1k.
Every patch seems like more stuff is broken then fixed and it's honestly fucking frustrating, add that with terrible server performance outside the US and UK and you have more reasons to be upset when getting stomped by a PMC running SP7 on a pistol, because you had the worse lag spike in recorded history.
Tarkov is a good game on paper, and when it works it's an amazing experience, but those kinds of problems throw me off playing it more often, if you don't have a decent rig or use anything but Nvidia and Intel, don't buy it, you'll only get frustrated.

I do like this game i really do but (in my opinion which alot people reddit tell me im wrong) to help those that are struggling to find the time to play have level caps 1-15 15-25 etc etc that way a level 4 does not have to go against someone who is level 40 and fully kitted chad YES the level 4 still has the chance to nail a level 40 but like i said its finding the time to do so and get the experience and learning which this game has got and is very in depth that way is playable for everyone and not just those who have all the time they need, Pestily himself has proved this to me as he hit level 30 within the first few days of the new wipe, me im still less than 10 because i have a full time job which i need. Theres no balance really and it feels like the community has the attitude of "oh you keep dying because you have lack of experience or shit gear, well tough shit and keep playing", kind of hard to keep the motivation of wanting to play when the odds were already very stacked against you.

It's simply impossible to have the kind of time, energy, and patience to even just learn the game/maps, let alone get "good" at them. But it would seem that the gratification/satisfaction of "winning" more than "dying" is much higher than most other games, as there is a incredible amount of risk/stress each raid. My biggest issue with Tarkov right now is how far it derived from its original pitch. It's no longer about surviving in Tarkov as an ex-PMC. It's a full-on modern weapons, state of the art equipment deathmatch. I'm not saying it's wrong, but the original appeal of "here's your AK/M16; maybe you find a mod or two, go ahead, survive" is mostly lost.

No, not worth buying, unplayable unless you want to wait 10 minutes to get into a match. 20 if you try to play reserve. So you can’t even play 3 out like what ? 7 Available maps. Extremely repetitive. Hackers, extreme learning curve, so if you can’t put in 7 hours a day your not gonna get any where.
Next, if you don’t buy the 80 or $90 version of the game. It’s unplayable. Why? Your stash space is EXTREMELY SMALL. And if you haven’t watched gameplay, just know you have to carry a lot of crap. Yes you can upgrade your stash but like pestily said, you’re gonna have to put in the time cause it’s not ez.

If you're looking for a realistic shooter, this isn't the game for you.
The game focuses too much on rpg mechanics, combat is so unpleasant if you don't have time to grind for good ammo.
Grinding for ammo is unfun, before getting high tier ammo the game feels like borderlands without numbers.
Balance for players who don't have time is genuinely dogshit.
I've played since 2017 and it has completely shifted into rpg territory
Also recoil system is a complete meme.
You get less recoil full spraying rather than tapping.
This game doesn't respect your skill at all. You could be a skilled player with game sense, outpeeking someone, hitting your shots and positioning correctly, yet someone who is brain dead could just tank your shit and bum rush you. There is potential but the game devs are too focused adding useless stuff and forgetting about gameplay mechanics, which are fundamentally broken.

The game will never hit full release and even if it did the player base will drop off because wipes are what keep people around. Wipes also stop those of us who cant put 40hrs a week in from completing all the quests and story. So the whole wipe or not thing is an issue with the gameplay loop. Theyve been promising streets for multiple wipes now so im not lying when I say there content is super slow and they expect tiny map expansions and 3 guns to be enough for the community to enjoy for another 6 months. It seems like nikita refuses to invest some of his earnings into servers because every single wipe the servers are down and you cant even log in due to over crowding. When you can get in, it takes 20 minute to get into a raid. When they do release a new map every 2 years it runs terrible and will consume 32gb of ram to function half decently. Tarkov is like a terrible drug addiction. You cant get enough but when you are playing, unless youre a streamer and super good the game grows stale.

Good tip here… if you are thinking of getting into tarkov watch some player content first, pestily is a great example and there’s tons of informational content from him to get you up and started.
When I first started playing tarkov I didn’t watch much content I just heard about it thought it looked cool and bought it. I when to factory at night 🤦🏻‍♂️😂 crept around not making a sound in complete darkness until I died to what was probably a scav somewhere in the office building. I don’t think I played tarkov for a while after that. I than got back into it after watching General Sam, Aqua FPS and then pest and so on and after investing in it and really just gathering knowledge I got good and knew what I was doing.
I really recommend doing some “research” before you play so you’ll have a good time.

I want to know what I'm buying especially for over 100 bucks. I'm always afraid I'll spend the 140$ on eft because I like it now then a year from now a big patch comes and fundamentally changes the game from what I purchased to something I don't like. It was perfectly fine about 3 wipes ago, and since then has become the most boring, slow paced, no fun, unrealistic, and purposefully frustrating shooter possible. It's not even just the whole camping meta that has spawned from the shit updates, but the game actively discourages new players. "Fun" events make the game unplayable for most of the player base, the AI were buffed into terminators, etc.
The game touts "realism" but never comes close.

I wish Tarkov had a PVE mode / horde mode, sometimes I just wanna play with friends and go scav / raider hunting. Maybe have rogues go around acting like PMC's looting and doing other stuff. Yeah there is offline raids but you can't do any progression. Make the loot not as good exp lower but those who just want a PvE experience can get it. Still make it challenging with more scavs and raids/rogues to act as other PMC's.
As for the horde mode, if you're USEC you would help the rogues there defend the compound, setup barriers / barbed wire / land mines, get people onto the turrets, maybe make it a 10 man raid like experience with basic scavs who get harder and harder eventually getting up to raider equipment as they try and overwhelm the USEC Rogues & yourselves to prevent them keeping a foothold on Tarkov. Keep Rogues there just make them friendly, once cleared enough give USEC Rogue rep and an exclusive trader. (Same for BEAR) like Peacekeeper and Lighthouse Rogues will be non-hostile to you like bosses when you hit 6.0 rep with fence.

It’s way more than just mechanics, it’s the running the same map over and over and over again just to learn where people peak, and learning the hard way that you really do need BP or BT to kill players after putting an entire round of PS into a PMC and them one tapping you. And then there are 100 different elements like that you have to either learn the hard way or watch on RUclips first.

I would say that DayZ is a more difficult/confusing game initially, given that it just drops you in the middle of nowhere with no explanation, whereas EFT had a lot more to learn in the long run than DayZ. I would say that starting out in EFT is much more enjoyable, but mastering the game is much more difficult than DayZ

Just one example: Give an option to define, that you only join servers with small groups. It is the most annoying moment, if you kill two PMC and get killed by the third one from the same group.
Or if you are on the same server as a streamer called Pestily, maybe you know him. But it is an honer to get killed by him.
