Kevin (harsh vocals, keyboards/ piano) told in an interview that they sometimes, after the initial idea (being either lyrically or musically), do write their songs with a concept for the video on mind but as often that comes later or at the end of the songwriting process.
When this came out, several people commented on how counterproductive it might be for a band with a rinsing international recognition to have German verses (and those containing a big amount of inside jokes). But they always said "We do what we like (and we do like a lot of different things) when we want and with whom we want". Nico mentioned, when they recorded Fckboi, that they had absolutely no second thoughts about putting out a straight pop-punk song.
Even in the old days, they often times experimented with different styles and (sub)genres, like with VIP (follow up to MC Thunder).
