Listen, I’m 54 years old. I listen to all kinds of music. Rock is my preference and peel the onion back from that heavy metal and death metal is what I love. But I also love EDM so this song is everything because it incorporates the beautiful death metal and the amazing EDM. This song is a masterpiece.

Fun fact: The tank they're driving in the music video is actually purchasable in World of Tanks, and it's named after one of their other songs, Primo Victoria. Comes with a custom skin and the band as unique crew members.

The literal spoken word with the knife is actually "If you look down me, it will be regrettable". I understand it comes form a old Yakuza film. If you look later the video the voice mic she is holding the same knife microphone.

This was all done in one take, so there was no cutting or having Courtney stand still while they changed things. The speeds of everything we see in the final product were opposite on set. What we see in the stop motion parts was done in slow speed (probably half time) on set and sped up in post, maybe even converted to 12 FPS and possibly held each frame for twice as long to make it even more jagged and jarring. What we see in slow motion was done sped up (probably double time) on set, then slowed down in post, which we've seen done many times in music videos. BUT the fact that this changes and flows throughout the video is what makes it unique, IN ONE TAKE. They probably took the normal track, plotted out exactly which parts they wanted the time changes, made splices in the music and either sped up or slowed it down, then they probably all had to practice it several times on set before filming it. Courtney probably got the advance version a few days before hand and started practicing to it, and it looks like they had an actual choreographer, so Courtney, specifically, had to not only work on getting her singing to change in the pre-determined timings, but to get the movements down as well. And the end result is perfection. My favorite part is 4:16 in this, when the music goes to double time (a Spiritbox staple) and she goes up in the scale, and the blueish-purplish light coming in. Top notch work from all involved, down to the PA who had to sweep up the glitter afterward. Extra bonus to Dylan for not having the camera cast a shadow at any point in this. I don't know how he managed to pull that off considering all the movements, angles, lights, and IT WAS ALL DONE IN ONE TAKE.

I remember when this was filmed I was, so to say, right over the street in the University... we heard the chanting and screams, etc. If I would have known, I would had walked over 😅
