"And what would humans be without love?"
"Rare," said Death.
Sir Terry Pratchett, Sourcery
Deep
Wow this one is great!
@@CapturedInWords I confess, I knew he'd have something good but I didn't recall this one of the top of my head, I just looked for quotes. There's a lot more as you'd expect for the greatest author to ever live, I suppose.
Yay what a great idea! The Tolkein one is my fave. 😍 I really like this one of his too:
And Eowyn looked at Faramir long and steadily; and Faramir said: 'Do not scorn pity that is the gift of a gentle heart, Eowyn! But I do not offer you my pity. For you are a lady high and valiant and have yourself won renown that shall not be forgotten; and you are a lady beautiful, I deem, beyond even the words of the Elven-tongue to tell. And I love you. Once I pitied your sorrow. But now, were you sorrowless, without fear or any lack, were you the blissful Queen of Gondor, still I would love you. Eowyn, do you not love me?
The wise man's one is my fav quote ever! ❤
I love that one a lot too!
Shall I compare this video to a Summers day? It is just as 🔥. Loved this 1!
I quoted Rothfuss’s quote in my wedding vows to my wife.
I LOVED this video! I loved that it was so different from your other videos (which I also love)!
I loved this. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
"I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world"
This quote from Song of Achilles is pure magic.
Really cool idea! I love this.
Jay, don’t let the Gatekeepers tell you otherwise you need to read the Strange the Dreamer duology! It’s my favorite fantasy ever!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed!! I'll definitely need to check out Strange the Dreamer at some point, been wanting to read it for a long time
Love the video and the quotes!❤ You always deliver such great content, Jay!
Lovely video 😍 Really enjoyed the quotes, because they give a little glimpse of the authors' prose. I've read some of this books, but a lot of them I still have to get to. Stardust is one of my favorite books.
"When you give each other everything, it becomes an even trade. Each wins all." --Lois McMaster Bujold, A Civil Campaign
Love this video. Happy Valentine's Day, Jay!
Thank you! Happy Valentine's Day! :)
“If pain is the weight of being, love is the purpose” Pierce Brown, Morning Star
mine is from the fan fiction i found on Ao3: "You taste like supper"
"It is said that life is a gift from the gods, but love is what gives life meaning." - Ryan Cahill, Of War and Ruin
"Love, my son, cannot be quantified by how and why. It is the intangible tether that connects your heart to others. It holds no conditions or rules, for if it did, it would not be love, but simply convenience. It is not found in the 'because', it is found in the 'and yet'." - Ryan Cahill, The Exile
Such good quotes! Now I'm really looking forward to starting The Bound and the Broken soon!
This was so SWEET 🥰🥰
this is lovely. ❤
“So yes, I, Adolin Kholin--cousin to the king, heir to the Kholin princedom--have shat myself in my Shardplate. Three times, all on purpose.” What? It's a love quote, they were on a date!
Ok a real one, the best one:
“When I take you to the Valley, you’ll see the blue hills on the left and the blue hills on the right, the rainbow and the vineyards under the rainbow late in the rainy season, and maybe you’ll say, “There it is, that’s it!” But I’ll say. “A little farther.” We’ll go on, I hope, and you’ll see the roofs of the little towns and the hillsides yellow with wild oats, a buzzard soaring and a woman singing by the shadows of a creek in the dry season, and maybe you’ll say, “Let’s stop here, this is it!” But I’ll say, “A little farther yet.” We’ll go on, and you’ll hear the quail calling on the mountain by the springs of the river, and looking back you’ll see the river running downward through the wild hills behind, below, and you’ll say, “Isn’t that the Valley?” And all I will be able to say is “Drink this water of the spring, rest here awhile, we have a long way yet to go and I can’t go without you.”
― Ursula K. Le Guin, Always Coming Home
Ahaha gotta love the Adolin quote! And also such a great Le Guin one too, I need to read that book
You forgot -
“Love is a fine cushion to rest upon, but only hate can make you a better person.” - Joe Abercrombie 😉
Yesss 😈 Abercrombie always has such great lines!
Man anything with Lan and Nynaeve get me.
Same!
Very impressive!
Thank you! Cheers!
Death cannot stop true love, only delay it
Good one!
Poor attempts at jest aside... this is damn good Mr Jay!
Really thought provoking.
Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
No worries.
I hope you enjoy your journey@@CapturedInWords?
Geralt knew that, in moments like this, the enchantress’s telepathic abilities were sharpened and very powerful, so he thought about beautiful matters and beautiful things. About things which would give her joy. About the exploding brightness of the sunrise. About fog suspended over a mountain lake at dawn. About crystal waterfalls, with salmon leaping up them, gleaming as though made of solid silver. About warm drops of rain hitting burdock leaves, heavy with dew.
He thought for her and Yennefer smiled, listening to his thoughts. The smile quivered on her cheek along with the crescent shadows of her eyelashes.
I always play the song The Dream is Dead by Type O Negative on valentines day, fitting lyrics since I've been single for about 12 years lmao. Or I can live vicariously through books with great love quotes like these💗
*I really like this quote at 2:30, I gotta read Jim Butcher he's been on my list for years
"I would have come for you. And if I couldn't walk, I'd crawl to you, and no matter how broken we were, we'd fight our way out together-knives drawn, pistols blazing. Because that's what we do. We never stop fighting."
Leigh Bardugo, Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows, #2)
Love that quote!
@@CapturedInWords another good one in second place for me is this one.⬇️
"I bring you the whole of my heart at the rising of the moon and the setting of the stars."
Thea Guanzon, The Hurricane Wars (The Hurricane Wars, #1)
PS: I used to be more of a fan of Japan, but I think they brought in a law in 2014 there abouts, where you can't criticise the Government in newspapers, and magazines and such like... which of course is undemocratic?
Please don't "kiss..." the audience!
Can you catch anything from that?
