  • In today’s video, I will teach you to make Long John Silver’s Chicken Planks. These are easy to make, and many might know them as Tempura Chicken. If you are looking for a different take on chicken for dinner, this is a great choice. These can easily be paired with french fries, or vegetables. I hope you like this as much as I do.

Not bad great recipe. I 100% agree tried with precut "tenders" from the store and their too big it does fall off sometimes - I think Long John Silvers uses 3oz tenders to be just the right size. Also, if you want a more "authentic" LJS taste, add 1/2 tsp garlic salt, 1/2 tsp onion salt, 1/4 tsp black pepper :-) Oh and the secret sauce to getting a deeper more golden brown color is a dash of paprika... And A tip to help batter stick make sure the chicken is patted with a towel or paper towel and is free from most moisture/water. Especially true if using frozen they will be full of water as they thaw.

@@thesouthernmountainkitchen No Problem - I mean this works 100% I was just adding to it to get a deeper LJS flavor. One thing that gets me is most recipies for the copycat LJS also use 1/4 cup corn starch and 1/2 tsp baking powder - never got what adding those does maybe a texture thing idk? But the spices really give it a deeper ljs flavor profile :-) FYI I use an $80 deep fryer I got at sam's lol - no turning needed

I love your videos. Can you make one about how to copycat Long John Silvers' fries? Also, we are trying to copycat Popeye's Cajun Fries too. If you want a lot of views, start making copycat recipes for stuff like that, because people are REVOLTING AGAINST RESTAURANTS, because it's just too expensive to go. Get this. I got new LJS coupons in the mail today, because I haven't been going. And, usually, I'll go if I've got coupons. But, DAMN, I can't believe the coupons. These coupons make the entrees more expensive than I remember them being before Covid. Like $9.99 for 2 pieces of fish and fries -- AFTER COUPONS. That's just TOO MUCH. Or, $8.99 for 3 pieces of fish and fries. NO WAY. They must be smoking something if they think my family is paying that much.

Thanks for watching my videos, I really appreciate it. I can look into the Long John's Fries. I had already planned to do a video for Popeye's Fries. My family likes those a lot. I do agree with you on the prices of resturants. They have gone crazy. Most of the coupons I get are a joke these days. That's why I have stopped going to a bunch of places to eat. My Long John's won't even do coupons anymore. It is sad that places keep raising their prices on food...then they wonder why they get no business. It's the same all over. If I can figure out how to make it at home, I will. Thanks for commenting!
