I remember asking mama how come he sounds better in person than on the record at home ( only 12 at first concert) she replies " because we can see him" 😂
For one thing, when you see him, you can see how effortlessly he sings along with how he's reacting to the music. You also get those little bits between songs where he's being silly. I don't know, seeing him, just makes him more human and lovable. I'll never forget the first time I saw him walk on stage. He had a presence about him I've never seen before. He was a bundle of humility and brashness, fun and seriousness, all rolled into one package of handsome manliness. I think I'm gonna faint thinking about it. 🤣😂🙃😍🤩 I think the videos I love best are the rehearsal videos from the two movies. Edit to add "documentary" movies.
Love when we can see the Elvis while listening to the song! This is actually a good song! You need to listen to it more than once to really appreciate it I think. Elvis directs the band with his body and movements! They watch him closely during every show and then follow his lead with the music! Look forward to more live reactions!! ❤
I just wish he had the version when you could hear the squeal of thr overhead electric equipment which caused Elvis to look surprised & then look up -- it makes more sense when you hear the sound because then you can understand his reaction -- but someone stupidly & inconsiderately deleted it -- makes no sense why people do these things. Someone did the same thing on "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" by taking out the raspiness & crack in his voice @ very beginning.
The story is how a couple stay together despite the fact that they have both no longer feel the love for each other . They have lost their way . I love this song , it’s so real 😢
Yes it's a live recording, YAY!! 😊 finally the awesome 1970 Vegas concerts! Ronnie Tutt is the drummer. Charlie Hodge is behind E near the piano. James Burton shining on his pink lead guitar. Jerry on bass. It's a full orchestra, the brass section at the back. I love this song, and Elvis looks and sounds amazing! It's a banger!🥇
I agree 100% that watching Elvis live is THE BEST! If you watch the making of the 1968 Comeback Special, Elvis was unsure if he could sing with an orchestra since he'd never done that. I think we all agree he did great. I wish they'd release all the rehearsal footage they have. I just can't get enough Elvis.
Seph, Love this song and Elvis voice is fantastic. Beautiful song, beautiful lyrics. The screen video looked like he was performing in the back of the jungle room. Such a nice effect . Thank you. Listen a few times it grows on you.
I love this song. Seph, if you stop to listen better, you will notice that it has a very well produced musical arrangement, the song has some ups and downs that involve the listener bringing them into the music, giving emphasis to the chorus, enriching the lyrics and melody. His lyrics also bring a message between the lines that goes beyond what the lyrics themselves bring. And her live performance enhances her and makes her fantastic.
James Burton is the main electric guitar player, John Wilkerson plays Rhythn Guitar, Jerry Scheff plays Bass Guitar and Ronnie Tutt is on Drums. Absolutely Love Your Reactions to Elvis' Live performances!! ❤️ ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I have a big stuffed buzzard and I named him Buzzy. He’s one of my favorites. 😂😂 I love this song. He had an actual orchestra to his left if you’re facing him and his TCB band was in the back of him with James Burton to his right with the pink paisley guitar and backup singers to his right all if you’re facing him. The Sweet Inspirations and the male backup singers behind them are the Imperials. When he first went to Vegas he went to see Barbara Streisand singing right before he started and she was all alone on this gigantic stage & he said he wanted to be surrounded by the best people he could find and he was an excellent producer of it all. As you’ve seen, how he interacts with them. You’re right. His body is like its own musical instrument in which his body parts react to each sound. Especially great to watch when he really gets into it. Thanks Seph. 😮❤❤🌹🌹🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🎸🕺🏻
Oops, overdub. Hope you'll get to the correct vid. 1970 is my fav Elvis period, he's fire on stage! No dancers or any other fancy tricks, just pure talent, raw emotion and charisma. The words of Rev. Herbert Brewster never seemed more true: "He was a bundle of energy, set to music, and that echo will never die."
Finally! ☺️ It's always better to *see* The Elvis. I love this song - the lyrics, the melody, the emotion Elvis infused into it. They're still living together, going through the motions, but the heart and soul of the relationship is gone. Lyrics: Lying by your side i watch you sleepin' And in your face the sweetness of a child Murmuring a dream you won't recapture Though it will haunt the corners of your mind Oh, I've lost you though you're near me And your body's still as kind I've lost you on the journey But I can't remember where or when Oh, who can tell when summer turns to autumn And who can point the moment love grows cold? Softly without pain the joy is over Though why its gone we neither of us know Oh, I've lost you, yes, I've lost you I can't reach you anymore We ought to talk it over now But reason can't stand in for feeling, oh Six o'clock, the baby will be crying And you will stumble sleeping to the door In the chill and sullen grey of morning We play the parts that we have learned too well Oh, I've lost you, oh, I've lost you Though you won't admit it's so I've lost you on the journey But I can't remember where or when, oh, no Oh, I've lost you, yes I've lost you I can't reach you anymore We ought to talk it over now But reason can't stand in for feeling, oh
I've always loved the song; to each his own. Yes, Elvis always had a 20-30 piece orchestra along with his 'regular' band; and, the female & male backup singers.
Alright Seph....we're going to fight about this!!!! We need a redo reaction!!! This song is amazing!!!! This song is about a relationship falling apart, going through the motions and not knowing how to fix it. It's a really beautiful song and the lyrics are great! Plus no one can top Elvis' live performances and Ronnie Tutt is killing it on drums!! I demand a better score and a re-listen!!! A+
You should really watch the movie "Thats the way it is. It is a concert movie, with behind the scene and rehearcal. It is an amazing movie. And then "Elvis on tour" from 72 , which follow Elvis across 15 cities of concerts (Thats the way it is, was his from Las Vegas shows, 1970). Elvis on tour got a golden globe for best music documentary. After that you have "Aloha from Hawaii" 1973, the satelite concert (There are actually two of these, as the recorded a "reherseal concert the day before in case something should go wrong on the day of the "real concert". The last concert for tv was the one done 6 weeks before his death, and Elvis was very sick and uncomftable but still sang 5 songs there that is worth listening to.
Great reaction! More live Elvis performances please you’ll see a lot more of his gorgeousness on stage who else can make messed up hair and sweat on his beautiful skin look so sexy… on this 1970 live in Las Vegas show you’ll see a lot of messed up hair and sweat, Thank you for keeping Elvis alive!!! 🔥🎸🎤🎶🔥
AND ALOT DON'T KNOW HE WENT FULL THROTTLE FOR TWO TO THREE HOURS TWICE A DAY... DID 57 SHOWS IN 30DAYS... AND STILL WANTED TO PLEASE HIS FANS.✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
The lyrics are bittersweet; the vocals like warm butterscotch. The performance is the color. The sum is more than the parts. Amidst a relative musical bounty be not miserly in thy appraisal or we may have to send you to your room with only the home recordings to occupy yourself.
The drummer is Ronnie this when he started Ronnie Tutt. Charlie is the 2nd guy u showed and James is the first guy on the left. Now we started That’s The Way It Is Concerts omg!! Awesomeness TCB⚡️
Left of Elvis bassist Jerry Schift, Drummer Ronnie Tutt, To the very right Is James Burton and the last guitar is John Wilkerson. they remained till he died. Thanks Seph, great job.
Are you sure? Think Ronnie was in 69 replaced for Bob Lanning. Bob was replaced in october 1970 by Ronnie Tott. Reason unknown. So during biggest part off 1970 Bob Lanning was his drummer. Right?
Ronnie Tutt on drums, Jerry Scheff on bass; James Burton lead guitar: and John Wilkinson on guitar, Glen Hardin on piano. Of course Charlie Hodge too, make up the TCB band; As well as the Joe Guercio orchestra.
Brilliant Seph. Filmed during Elvis' 12 August 1970, Dinner Show in the main showroom of the Las Vegas International Hotel, this was in fact only the third live performance of "I've Lost You" by Elvis. Despite this version being included in the 1970 movie "Elvis - That's The Way It Is" it was the performance from twenty four hours earlier which was released on the same titled album in preference to the studio recording. This with the live footage can be found here : ruclips.net/video/S-tNKPvACG8/видео.html The studio recording which Elvis recorded in Nashville at RCA's Studio B on 4 June 1970 and was in fact just the second track after "Twenty Days and Twenty Nights" to be recorded at these landmark sessions now referred to simply as "The Nashville Marathon". The version heard in the movie soundtrack is notable for the solo oboe (or cor anglais) which gets out of time with the rest of the band at the beginning of the song but Sony tried to address this problem with the different mix they presented on the 2014 TTWII Legacy / Deluxe releases, which included the entire 12 August Dinner Show, by raising the piano at the intro therefore "drowning" the offending instrument.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song...more specifically this version of the song. In this video, they dubbed audio from another show over the video from this show. I hate when they do that. The studio version is marginal. This is great.
Its more about how just playing the roles in relationships can cause the actual feelings if live and fun etc to disappear if they are not wirked in. Then when it is lost you could talk about it but reason can't stand in for feelings. Basically work at relationships to keep love active and alive... or it could be lost with no way of bringing it back. 😥
from thats the way it is movie - the studio version (which is one of only a handful he ever done better than live) is on the album and is just brilliant.
James Burton is that guy that I had the pleasure of meeting at the Guesthouse of Graceland, as he explained the TCB ⚡️that Elvis had gave him with my pictures taken by his son , it was such a magical moment for me that I will cherish ❤
2nd comment: Date Of Performance: August 12, 1970 Dinner Show Place: Las Vegas International Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Song Info (according to Wiki): "I've Lost You" was covered by Elvis Presley. It was released in July 1970, debuted at number 85 on the Hot 100 on 1 August 1970, and reached number 32 on 29 August - 5 September 1970. On the Cash Box chart, however, it reached as high as number 18. It also charted at number five on the Adult Contemporary chart. The song became a gold record. As a newly released single, Presley included it in his setlist during his third Las Vegas season (August/September 1970) and the version from 12 August Dinner Show was included in the MGM movie Elvis: That's the Way It Is. In Canada, "I've Lost You" was a Top 10 hit. It peaked at number 10, and spent two weeks in that position. It was also a top 10 hit in the United Kingdom where Presley's career was on something of a major resurgence, reaching number 9 for two weeks in November and December. "I've Lost You" is a song written by Alan Blaikley and Ken Howard (under the pen name 'Steve Barlby') for Iain Matthews. It was originally recorded in 1969 and released on Matthews' first solo album after leaving Fairport Convention: Matthews' Southern Comfort. Short info everyone I know! Also: Jerry Guercio Orchestra Glen D. Hardin - Piano Ronnie Tutt - Drums Guitar - James Burton (the second guy you pointed to) Guitar - Charlie Hodge (the first guy you pointed to) Guitar - John Wilkinson (the last guy you pointed to) Bass - Jeff Scheff (the third guy you pointed to) Note: Will try to provide video link where Elvis does back up singers/ band members/ orchestra introductions to the audience at some point. That's it for this comment I think. May add more info later in a 3rd comment later. Honestly do not know yet so no promises. I just wing all of this info dumping honestly. I never plan it out lol 😀
Elvis introduced his drummer Ronnie tutt and the bass player Jerry Scheff, Then Elvis said, So that's Tutt and Scheff, That's Tutt Scheff any which way you look at it. Ha. In other words Tough S--T.
Wow, wow! You've arrived at concerts. Yeah. James is to the left. Songs get better, but this one not bad at all. Hope you get to see some of the stuff between the songs. Good reaction.
Great, but this exact version of live in 4K was overdubbed with the different version. Here is non HD version with the original sound: ruclips.net/video/sYmnJ--sAnk/видео.html
A lot of the live videos you are watching are from Elvis, That’s They Way It Is. Definitely worth a watch. BTW, I LOVE THIS SONG! Elvis had a full orchestra and his band.
Seph: Elvis and many singers at the time - could afford to tour with an orchestra…. Now that you’ve seen 1 of the songs from the concert movie “That’s The Way It Is” - let me say that when you eventually watch the movie…PLEASE understand that there are TWO versions. The original 1970 theatrical release, and the 2000s re-edited version! Most Elvis fans prefer the 2000s re-edit because it has more songs (but it leaves out a couple which the original had) and cuts out some fan footage and business footage. I feel it’s important to see the old footage originally in order to understand the movie in the context of those times. I’m one of the few who probably prefer the original.
No electronic flippery. Raw live music . Orchestra backing band, Sweet Inspirations….. remember the time in his life…. Just awesome. He introduced his band and orchestra in every performance. You need to watch a concert in its entirety to really understand it. Snap shots aren’t always the best way to discover a performance
Drummer Ronnie TUtt, bass Jerry Schiff, rhythm guitar John Wilkerson, piano Glen Hardin and main guitarist James Burton. Joe Guerico and orchestra in background.
Little correction. The rhythm guitar is played by John Wilkinson. He has a funny story to tell, how he met Elvis for the first time. It shows again what a nice guy Elvis was.☀️
Don´t forget the faboulos female backup singers THE SWEET INSPIRATIONS, plus the high voice singing Milli Kirkham and the number one national male gospel group at that time: THE IMPERIALS.
This is the studio version dubbed on top of the live performance - why someone has done that I cannot imagine - this is not the live performance audio..
Unfortunately this version is where someone stupidly cut out the squeak of the overhead electric equipment which surprised Elvis & why he stopped for a second & looked upward. Very stupid & inconsiderate to omit anything from his performances -- it was all part of Elvis & everything that went on in his shows. Did you notice at 4:06 the little movement he made when he said "stumble to the door" -- he was pretending to stumble. Elvis' left leg was always moving, even on his slow songs. It was HIM, it was natural, & it was part of his normal temperament, along w-feeling the music very deeply. Joe Gercio was the Orchestra leader of approximately 25 musicians. Saxophones are my favorite instrument. If you listen to '50's r 'n r & doo-wop groups you'll always hear an amazing sax -- it was all part of music then that we unfortunately lost. The video "Elvis Presley in the studio, 1970" at ruclips.net/video/GJo3O3QIBJk/видео.html show the band members on screen w-their names so you can get to know who's who. It's also a very enjoyable rehearsal session in the MGM studios in LA. I don't recall if Charlie Hodge is there w-his name listed but he's the one who sang harmony, was keeper of the set list & gave Elvis his water, Gatorade & scarves & stood to the right of Elvis.
Seeing him perform makes any song better than just hearing him. It was very nice that you got a live video this time. Get rid of that toy penguin it distracts your concentration. I prefer the animated Kingsley and I think he's getting real mad at you for putting him in the closet. I heard he's planning to blow you up with a really big bomb, you better watch out.😮 I like the song and permformance, for me it's a double banger.
Wait 'til you get around to his live 1970 Vegas performance of Love Me Tender...We don't get to hear much of the song because Elvis actually goes out into the audience and starts kissing nearly every woman there. Everybody who watches this one can't believe that Elvis is kissing all the girls on the lips. It was a different time then and people were much more relaxed and civil. You'll really enjoy this one , Seph.
FINALLEEEEE!!!! A LIVE PERFORMANCE!

We all love seeing him ❤❤❤❤
Oops, overdub.
Lyrics:
Lying by your side i watch you sleepin'
And in your face the sweetness of a child
Murmuring a dream you won't recapture
Though it will haunt the corners of your mind
Oh, I've lost you though you're near me
And your body's still as kind
I've lost you on the journey
But I can't remember where or when
Oh, who can tell when summer turns to autumn
And who can point the moment love grows cold?
Softly without pain the joy is over
Though why its gone we neither of us know
Oh, I've lost you, yes, I've lost you
I can't reach you anymore
We ought to talk it over now
But reason can't stand in for feeling, oh
Six o'clock, the baby will be crying
And you will stumble sleeping to the door
In the chill and sullen grey of morning
We play the parts that we have learned too well
Oh, I've lost you, oh, I've lost you
Though you won't admit it's so
I've lost you on the journey
But I can't remember where or when, oh, no
Oh, I've lost you, yes I've lost you
I can't reach you anymore
We ought to talk it over now
But reason can't stand in for feeling, oh
I've always loved the song; to each his own. Yes, Elvis always had a 20-30 piece orchestra along with his 'regular' band; and, the female & male backup singers.
This is the studiorecording sound layed on top of the liveshow from Vegas 1970.
Ronnie Tutt on drums, Jerry Shiff on bass guitar,James Burton on lead guitar and Johnny Wilkinson on rhythm guitar, ' I believe '
It was the TCB Band and orchestra. Elvis put together the best.
I love your enthusiasm, Seph . It’s lovely sharing Elvis with someone who loves him almost as much as I do😀
It's the Imperials and the Sweet Inspirations with Millie Kirkham singing soprano.
Live fire 🔥🔥🔥
This is in my top 5 Elvis' songs! Love your reaction to the live video and can't wait to see more, Seph!
From Elvis That's The Way It Is concert film
No no banger banger banger yes yes yes
You should watch the entire concert Elvis that's the way it is
Most beautiful voice , beautiful smile. Hes most handsome, sexy man. God gave him everything. Love hearing& watching him.❤. Thank you!
It's a lovely song but you probably need to see it in the it in the film, elvis that's the way it is to appreciate a slow song with the fast songs
His drummer's name is Ronnie Tutt !
This with the live footage can be found here : ruclips.net/video/S-tNKPvACG8/видео.html
The studio recording which Elvis recorded in Nashville at RCA's Studio B on 4 June 1970 and was in fact just the second track after "Twenty Days and Twenty Nights" to be recorded at these landmark sessions now referred to simply as "The Nashville Marathon".
When you were asking which guy is James…….Your 3rd “this guy” is James …….
Wonderful song ❤
Nice reaction Seph.
❤👑👑👑👑👑❤️
The lyrics are the song…. The performance is spectacular
Love it!!! Yay! He does look amazing!!!❤ I agree not my favorite song but he makes it great. There are better songs coming!
from thats the way it is movie - the studio version (which is one of only a handful he ever done better than live) is on the album and is just brilliant.
James Burton is that guy that I had the pleasure of meeting at the Guesthouse of Graceland, as he explained the TCB ⚡️that Elvis had gave him with my pictures taken by his son , it was such a magical moment for me that I will cherish ❤
James is the taller one ,the shorter one is Charlie Hodge who Elvis met in the Army !👍
2nd comment: Date Of Performance: August 12, 1970 Dinner Show
Place: Las Vegas International Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Also: Jerry Guercio Orchestra
Glen D. Hardin - Piano
Ronnie Tutt - Drums
Guitar - James Burton (the second guy you pointed to)
Guitar - Charlie Hodge (the first guy you pointed to)
Guitar - John Wilkinson (the last guy you pointed to)
Bass - Jeff Scheff (the third guy you pointed to)
Note: Will try to provide video link where Elvis does back up singers/ band members/ orchestra introductions to the audience at some point.
That's it for this comment I think. May add more info later in a 3rd comment later. Honestly do not know yet so no promises.
I just wing all of this info dumping honestly. I never plan it out lol 😀
Could you not hear the complete orchestration of his live performances? Watch his rehearsals and watch him bringing it all together
👑✌️
Omg who made you a crochet Kingsley?! That's the cutest thing ever 😂❤
Elvis had a full orchestra and his band.
seph so many good Elvis live videos. please react to them. its a banger.
Ronnie Tutt is the awesome drummer!
The third one
Ronnie Tutt (Drummer), James Burton (Guitar), J.D Sumner (Basso Profundo back ground singer)
Jerry on bass then james lead guitar then john
Seeing him perform makes any song better than just hearing him. It was very nice that you got a live video this time. Get rid of that toy penguin it distracts your concentration. I prefer the animated Kingsley and I think he's getting real mad at you for putting him in the closet. I heard he's planning to blow you up with a really big bomb, you better watch out.😮 I like the song and permformance, for me it's a double banger.
I think it's an "Over-dub" ?
It definitely wasn't. I blame this blunder on my friend haha
And his backup singers of the sweet inspirations Whitney houston's mother Cissy Houston sung back up for Elvis all of his seventies career.
