Nice review man, I really like riders who do tons of mods. I also have lots of future projects for my cbr650R. I think this bike is best of both worlds and I never wanna sell it, just keep on modifying thing to make it interesting.

Thats not the r1 sear cowl
That particular model comes with that seat cowl , I just paid deposite for one today .

What model is better 22 or 23? Did they change something in the 23 model motor for the Euro 5 emissions?
The new one is always the better choice. But the colour is different

It’s a bad ass bike. IIRC, the other “middleweights” such as the R7 and Ninja 650 are twins, opposed to the CBR650R being an inline 4.

I have a question I’ve been looking for my first bike and I’m 6 foot 4 and 210 pounds this is one of my options but my only concern is the weight of the cbr650r how bad is it my other options is rs660 because of the modes and cruise control but the only thing is reliability and the other is r7 but idk about seat height and my other is duke 890r it has modes too I think the only downside is reliability not sure how it is what should I get as a first I’m pretty dead set on one of these which should I get I live in usa so I can get whatever as a first but idk what do you think
I reckon get cbr650r since I rode one before. The power and the sitting position are super comfy and cbr650r is the only inline 4 in those options. Or if you want something better I recommend zx6r which is my next bike 😂 I don’t know how is it but it’s look really cool tbh

A friend had the same shifting problem on his cb650r (naked version, same engine). He asked Honda and they said its a known problem but there is nothing they can do about it.
I can’t find one here at all in the US, and dealers have told me that they aren’t allowed to order them

Dude that bike looks amazing ive been torn between thr rs 660 and cbr 650r. Im a shorter rider so the 650r ergo would suit me more, the rs660 reliabilty issues and flat look for me dont suit. But your CBR looks amazing

Imo, this bike is a horrible value. You can get the same thing out of an MT09 for the same price. More power with comfort, cruise control, up and down quick shift and a bunch of other things you might or might not care about. Or if you want equivalent power. You also have MTO7/R7. R7 is more racy looking to start if that's what you want, but if that isn't what you want then 650r isn't cool to you either. But then you have the MTO7 which has less horsepower but better torque which people don't talk enough about since horsposer doesn't mean anything. It shows a relative top speed if anything, but torque is a unit of work. And the MT07 does more work sooner with less effort than the 650r. So it is actually faster stoplight to stop light, and still goes as fast as you want to go. Me personally i went with a zx6r. It literally costs a few hunter dollars more and is way more powerful, doesn't need to spend a any money to look racy it's a blast to ride. So for what you get I can't understand why people would buy the 650r for its price with a bunch of other bikes across the board that have a better value. You are pretty much paying honda tax.
@@trsskaterYou don't understand... I've had all 4 japanese brands before and Honda is better built, not just reliability but the feel and drivability it's better than the others. You can see from Honda levers don't get that big of a play you find on the others and they have floating handlebar mounts and floating foot pegs. Those are the one I remember right now but there's much more to it, overall they fell better engineered.
@@sebastiaooliveira928 Honda does have a better fit and finish. I don't know what you are talking about with floating handle bars and foot pegs. Never noticed a difference and I don't see this in any reviews about the bike. But what that said it's not a $2,000 value in fit and finish. And it's not to say is $2,000 better than any other bike. 650 bikes generally have a lower fit and finish because they are designed to be cheap. The price point this bike is in puts it up against bikes that have higher quality parts, more adjustability, and more power. So you have 2 options. Get a better bike for the same price or save your money and get a similar bike. Unless you must have a red bike with a Honda logo. I was even able get a 2021 ZX-6R brand new for the same price as this Honda. And my current bike is basically what this Honda is trying to cosplay as.

Got my test next month and think i'm leaning towards the cbr650r. The E clutch unit looks ugly on the new model though

I got her naked sister (CB, not CBR) as my daily. Been riding her for over a year now, and I only really have three criticisms from a daily riding standpoint:
1. The seat gets uncomfortable after a couple of hours
2. The engine really could use a balance shaft (again, only an issue after a couple of hours)
3. The sporty suspension is very good for sportier riding, but on a long trip I'd have liked to be able to open up the compression damping a bit. Some of the nastier bumps transfer to the frame too well for my liking.
None of those apply when you're out to have a bit of fun, but if you're looking to go longer distances these things can get quite annoying.
The only annoying thing about this bike is the bronze engine cover it just stands out like a saw thumb what's the best way to make it black ?

The CBR 650R is one i might consider getting after getting my license, but i havent managed to find one in stores or dealers. I want to know if u really have to lean on your wrists a lot and do u relatively sit up more or not. I do want to tour to other countries so i wanna know if u would reccomend long rides from several hours on this bike.
It’s actually the most comfy sitting position since it’s not actually a super sport, it’s a sport touring. But I reckon you could go to a dealership and hav a seat on it to see is it actually suits you

It is a really cool bike but what concerns me is that it doesnt have much torque. Hp comes from rpm.
While my z900 has nearly 50% more torque. So you can ride in 6th gear going 38 miles an hour. 🤷♂️

Isn't that the nature of a 4 inline engine (sry I'm new) as it reaches power on higher rpms? That's also one of the reasons for why I'm probably getting one.

When you have a bike that has a bigger engine (more ccm) it also has more torque. That's the reason why 4 cylinder engines push so much foreward.
If you really want to get into it, there is performance charts for every vehicle. Those are the best to compare their performance.
Usually 4 cylinder bikes have lots of ccm. Thats why they have so much power.
The CBR650R has less torque (less ccm) than a Z900 for example. Thats part of the reason why it needs the RPM. The relation between rpm and torque is important to understand. If you want the same output (horsepower) the CBR650R needs to have higher RPM to reach the same amount of HP.

My Z900 rides 55 Km/h in 5th gear without stuttering. The CBR650R is in 3rd or 4th gear at that speed. By shifting up, the rpm is reduced, which means it needs the torque. But there is just less torque on that bike because the engine is smaller.
