    The problem for me is that I really like speed/power and I've always viewed motorcycles as a way to experience that so while there are some pros to a calmer or more cruise focused bike, they just dont carry enough weight for me to ever give up having lots of beans. If I ever managed to be able to afford more than one bike that might help cure me of it cause I could get whatever experience when I wanted but as I'm still a one bike man for the foreseeable future, that one bike has to scratch my speed itch first and foremost.

      I’m also in the same boat you’re in breh. Bought the cbr650r this year, but it just isn’t sporty enough. I also like yourself ride mainly on track and backroads, and it has some short comings. A little down on the power, soft suspension (I weigh 220 pounds), brakes could also be better. Anyways, I’m planning on getting another bike and I’ve thought about the R6 2017- and upwards, but I’ve also considered the zx6r. What’s your opinion so far? You like the kawa?

    • @Daniel-dj7fh
      @Daniel-dj7fh 10 месяцев назад

      I wouldn't recommend anything over 48hp for a beginner, you're not gonna learn how to ride on anything faster.
      And if you're wondering if a 48hp bike is too slow for the highway, it's not. Last month I had no issues going from 130kmh to 150 on the Autobahn on my cb500f without downshifting.
      But if you have some level of responsibility, and are not crazy you could get into riding on a 650. Just note that you'll (or anyone really) will ever get a bike (not even a 48hp bike) really anywhere to it's limits. @@ChevyCorvetteZ

      If I had the 650 (which I'm plannin on) and get to the point where the suspension is too bad for the backroads. I'm gonna get into swapping out fork internals lol. And I recently saw that Brembo has universal-ish callipers for many types of bikes so that's pretty cool too.@@tonygiovanni7598

      @@Daniel-dj7fh You’re exactly right. You’d be amazed how many folks post on these threads that claim to be “experienced motorcycle folks” seem to think all the the 650’s are alike. While I do think the “purpose” for pretty much all the 650’s is very similar (essentially sport bike style thst is more “street appropriate” than the 600’s or liter bikes with still plenty of power) as you mentioned, how they PRODUCE that power is vastly different - especially with the cbr650r being an inline 4. The power band is super long on it and you get very little torque down low unless you rev it out in the lower gears. It just keeps accelerating though as long as you stay on the throttle once you’re in 6th gear!

    600s sit in a nice niche of their own, where you can make tonnes of power by just revving their tits off.
    In the 650 the pistons and other parts are too heavy to spin that fast, so they're comparatively down on power, but you get a much more usable bottom end and mid range, so it's handier around town.
    The position on these is also quite a bit more relaxed compared to the race ready 600s

      The other day I rode my cb500f, the new hornet and the 650r. I wouldn't say it's got nothing down low, the 650's low end is pretty smimilar to my 500, but the rips alot faster the higher you rev it. The hornet had more punch and accelerated exactly as hard as the 650, but just cant ride as fast as the 650.
      I really liked how the 650 rode, just can't decide if I want a red bike or the black with the blue on the tank 🤮 (if it wasn't painted it wouldn't have been a problem)@@233kosta

      I'm 6'1 and a half, this is very comfortable for our height. One of the reasons I bought the 650R. Great balance of comfort/sport ergo. You can tuck down and use the balls of your feet on the pegs when you're giving it the beans, and also change position for comfort, and ride for hours. First day of riding I was a bit worried but after a week or two of riding my body was completely tuned into the bike.

    • @jakegarrett8109
      @jakegarrett8109 Год назад +17

      Its an intermediate class bike, not a race bike... Honda doesn't want to compete with their more expensive 600RR, and you realize that for high RPM they need different bore to stroke ratios, different cams, etc. This one has 46mm Bore vs their supersport engine with 42.5mm stroke (that's a huge difference in G-forces at the end of the stroke for the same engine RPM, both are 67mm pistons), and the supersport has other minor things like 12.2:1 compression instead of 11.6:1 (which is easy to change with some sandpaper, but you can't change that piston stroke so easy).
      They could have made it perform like Kawasaki's 636, which produces 130 HP factory compared to this 649 making between 81 and 94 HP
      But, they didn't, its not a race bike, its more of a beginner/intermediate bike, like in between their 250cc and 600cc.
