Thank you for this video my Dad and I were able to get the job done in 20 minutes. The hardest part was getting the console taken apart and put back together.
This is a belated response but for anyone googling this...The fix was even easier for my 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe. The shifter looked like it was in "Park" but it wasn't exactly sitting right I guess. Once I started up the car again, shifted in and out of drive and jiggled the knob around a bit, then back into Park, I was able to turn the ignition all the way off and the key popped right out as normal. So try that first before pulling fuses or tearing open your dash!
In my case, the plastic cover on the top of the shift knob had broken and some small plastic pieces had fallen into the shift knob button mechanism. I just had to pull off the shift knob and shake it upside down to clear the broken bits.
Thanks for posting this Video of "Key Stuck in Ignition." This happen to me at night, and I didn't have time/light to take apart the console, but the quick fix, of taking the fuse out was big help, gave me a sense of relief not having a unlocked car /w a key inside. I will take part the console today, hopefully clean out / bend micro switch. Thank You Again Long :)
Thank you! This did the trick, saved me a few hundred. Garage said they would have to take center console and steering column apart to troubleshoot and fix it. They also told me to disconnect the battery to get key out. I found your video and this did the trick to get the key out in a pinch with the fuse and to fix the problem. $0 spent and now it's working.
85% of this type of problem is because of (shift knob) , It happened with me 2011 sonata and went to Hyundai dealer and got the knob and it took them 10 minutes to replace and the problem solved !
I have sonata 2011, my ignition key is ok and shifter is ok, but there is a continuous click sound coming from inside the ignition cylinder, do you think its the micro switch issue as well? Thanks
If you want to bypass the switch you don’t have to take it out just cut the wire and connected together to bypass the microswitch It’s can save u time in trouble
361lt thanks, I ended up being able to pull out the opposite end. It was a pain in the ass pulling the connectors out of white part of the switch but with a fine pick I was able to pull them out and not have to cut anything
For those of you in a quick bind that don't want to pull your fuse or want to always pull fuse to park and don't want to get into the guts of your gear shift, go here ruclips.net/video/A4t6yDZKb5g/видео.html for the quick fix.
Just unbelievable, these kinds of videos never turn out right for me. This was dead on accurate and relatively easy just like he shows. Thank you!!!
he never said if he cleaned it or replaced it

Where are y’all finding the part because I called Hyundai and they acting like they never heard of it
How tf do you unplug the other end from the switch that’s way the hell up in the center console though?? That’s the hardest part of this
This is not as easy as it looks. Please explain how the other end of the micro switch comes out....the end with the blue and brown wires
If you want to bypass the switch you don’t have to take it out just cut the wire and connected together to bypass the microswitch It’s can save u time in trouble

I have to do this to my hyndai sonata. Because my mechanic didn't want to do his job. I don't want to keep doing so and end up blowing a fuse.
Watched a vid on how to fix. Looks simple to fix
Just turn your steering further and start the ignition…
Has anyone figure out the part number or the name of the part
It a micro switch for safety shifts lock but u can by pass it by connecting both wire together or jump together behind the switch

Txxx bra
If this takes longer than 10 seconds to do then your doing something wrong
🎉🎉🎉🎉
alguien que me explique en español algo resumido del video
You should trim your nails lmao
Cocain finger nail
Bro trim those fingernails lol
Typically folks who have long nails like that are for one or two reasons, but I’m guessing he plays guitar and doesn’t like using a pick.
Bad video!
Thank you
