So inspiring and informative without a word being spoken. And it's perfect that the only soundtrack is just the sounds of creativity and paper tearing - music to my ears! Thank you.
57mobird Thanks, glad you found the demo of interest. I use no words because it would presume everyone spoke English and I hope the simple demo would translate well.
Hermina Miklos Thanks very much, it's always appreciated when someone takes time to send feedback and support for these demos. I hope they get good results for you. Thanks for watching.
Hermina Miklos Thanks very much, good to hear you like the demo, I will try to do more. I think it shows what you can achieve with Just a few basic materials.
Karan Ouren Thanks so much for the positive feedback, this is a great technique to practice and I'm sure your students will enjoy the process, results do improve with practice and it's a great way to produce new ideas and explore composition. Thanks for watching and good luck with your efforts.
Mireille Cavassilas Thanks, I really appreciate your positive comments and it's good to know that you enjoyed this demo. Thanks for watching. More demo videos are on the way, including a sculpture one.
If I try to work with acrylic and retarder, I should know the scale of the retarder. It is not easy, and acrylic sticks, and the plastic, who I did into a frame, cannot be cleaned. So oil color is better to handle, and I better wait for to dry. Thank you so much for your time and work! I take it as a gift, who is very, very helpful to me.
Thank you, this is great. I haven't got plastic bags like the ones you use nor silkscreen medium but I might try with stuff I have got, see if it works but think it probably won't... (?)
Jenny Hughes Thanks, pleased you found it useful, you can improvise with other found materials it's good to experiment. The plastic is from old carrier bags that I cut up, you can wipe them and use them more than once.
Love your Sculptures , can I ask what is the material you use for the finished pieces and are they made over the cardboard or do you do a lost wax process?
Neena Me Thank you for your positive comments about my work. The small sculptures have a basic structure of recycled cardboard then layers of strong cement tile adhesive is applied in layers building up a very hard and textured surface (similer to ceramic) I then apply paints and varnish to achieve the desired effect. I'd love to work with bronze and have them cast, this is just a low budget alternative.
It's the foil that you often get used in packaging, its not foil but described as metallised plastic. Not to be confused with the aluminium foil used in cooking. It has lots of mark making potential.
Marilyn Healey The silkscreen medium slows the drying of the acrylic paint by about 10 minutes, depending on the thickness. I find oil paint works better as it does allow more time to work with. Thanks for watching the demos, hope they are helpful.
Your technique is very interesting: I cannot figure out what material you are using for your ‘plate’! Unless it is silk?? And how do you clean them? Do you use cold wax for the wax part?
Kat McGee I always like to use recyled materials, so the printing is done with plastic carrier bags and the wax is simply an old wax candle, hope you give it a try, good luck with the results.
Francesco Gallarotti Yes, acrylic paint dries too fast for this technique so I use the medium so I can work with it longer. You can use paint retarder or just use oil based paint instead.
Dan Tirels I never tried acrylic but this looks like a lot of fun, adding some System 3 to my cart as we speak as it seems to be a good quality student paint, perfect to learn and understand how acrylics work. Thanks for your reply and your inspirational videos!
Karen Parker As long as you don't damage the surface (I always use a blunt pencil) they can be re-used many times. I keep seperate ones for each colour and store them flat you can just wipe off the unused paint before it dries.
I'm using your various techniques in my class for seniors, so thanks very much. I could not find "siklscreen printing medium". Is it for retarding drying? Is it for thinning? I bought "Screen Retarder Base" in the hopes that it's the former :)
Francine Perlman I just used the silkscreen medium as an experiment (and I had some left over) but I think anything that slows the drying process would work. Glad you and your class found the demo useful.
Thank you for providing all the great info! I was wondering, though..how long does it take for your prints to dry when using the silkscreen medium? Thank you :)

Herzlich willkommen, danke fürs Zuschauen 😀👍
Thanks Dan for sharing your ideas
I finally saw the "registration" guides in the bottom left corner. I was wondering how you aligned the print. Now I see. 🎨👍🏻🎄
Thank you so much for sharing, I find your printing methods so inspirational, can't wait to have a go at this : )
Love it. I prefer to tape off the receiving paper with drafting tape, use loose freezer paper and oil paints for the printing.
Merci beaucoup M.Tirels. I enjoyed a lot your video and learnt a lot. I love your monoprints.
Mireille Cavassilas Thanks, I really appreciate your positive comments and it's good to know that you enjoyed this demo. Thanks for watching. More demo videos are on the way, including a sculpture one.

You ever try making a gelli plate? I think you’d like it.
Not yet but I will give that a try.
Molto inteessante

Would you share please what “plastic foil” is. Thank you

Love this.

What does the silkscreen medium do? Keeps the colors from drying quickly on the plastic bag?
Francesco Gallarotti Yes, acrylic paint dries too fast for this technique so I use the medium so I can work with it longer. You can use paint retarder or just use oil based paint instead.
Dan Tirels I never tried acrylic but this looks like a lot of fun, adding some System 3 to my cart as we speak as it seems to be a good quality student paint, perfect to learn and understand how acrylics work. Thanks for your reply and your inspirational videos!
Francesco Gallarotti I've used it for years with no complaints ! Great colour range. Good Luck with your work.
Excelente!
How many "impressions" do you get out of a plastic bag "plate"? They seem to hold up under the strain of a lot of mark making. Nice final print.
Karen Parker As long as you don't damage the surface (I always use a blunt pencil) they can be re-used many times. I keep seperate ones for each colour and store them flat you can just wipe off the unused paint before it dries.
