Great video man, you speak for a lot of us who stopped trying, also meant the world to hear you mention my name along with such influential people considering i always saw them as on a level above myself
@cardndmch Aw hell naw, you aint throwing me in with them. I've picked female characters in rpg games like fallout before just to play a different character archetype. That's VERY different than going into a social chatting game and presenting yourself as a female to catfish. That's a whole other mental illness blud.
i remember back in the day when i got like a random group of 40 dudes to all have the same space marine avatar and break into Ugandan knuckles servers screaming stupid warhammer quotes... now its just a place for sad people
i somehow caused a raid on mcdonalds where i had left my avatar cloning on while running around in a fnaf map as fnaf movie william afton, and a shit ton of people cloned it and eventually we raided mcdonalds and later tried watching the fnaf movie
One of my friends told me a story how they were roleplaying Saul Goodman, but accidentally had a Pepsi man skin on, but everyone booed when he put on the Saul skin so he just ended up defending someone in fake court as Pepsi man
Being married and on vrchat then saying so everyone around you “yeah my wife is just listening to me be annoying” really changed the way people spoke to me
Honestly, made my time wayyyyyy better just casually dropping I'm in a relationship lol. It's kinda fun dropping my girlfriends near cause then they try involve her too and talk to her. Its kinda nice lmao.
Can vouch, when dudes try to be flirty I tell them my husband's right behind me watching it all happen (as my computer is in our room) their tone changes REAL fast. 😂 Keeping the ERP folk away leads to better results in VR, at least in my experience.
@@robertsears8323That's not true. But that can be said about most things, really. Even if the bad isn't that noticeable (but in this case, VRC's bad is pretty prominent).
Old vrchat was so much fun with full lobbies of people just messing around and having stupid fun. Now, it is super awkward to play because most people don't even socialize in it anymore. You can join a full lobby but nothing is actually happening. Having and using fullbody should be epic and amazing but people do even less socializing.
I have around 100h (I´m relativley new) in VRC and have never seen an FBT user move or use their FBT for anything but laying on the floor. I had lobbies where no oone talked or with only 13year olds or younger that are just annoying. But I also found cool people that I talked with for hours. I don´t know how it was in the "old times" but for me it was very easy to find some cool people. I think I undestand your point and just wanted to share my own experience.
One of my theories is that people don't trust each other on the internet as much as they used to. Other than that, I honestly don't know shit as I only regularly played VrChat during the lockdowns.
The reason for that is because all of the people who stuck around from those days developed closer knit friend-groups that they only hang out with in invite only lobbies.
What I find fascinating is that there is a vr chat accent. Plenty of boys try to force a monotone "corpse husband" voice, while the girls try do an ariana grande impression
An old online friend of mine literally became a mirror dweller, got addicted to VR chat, sleeps, eats, and has it on day and night. Only hangs out with kids when they're way older, and overall even started dating some of them from what I heard from others. I dropped them awhile back after they ignored me, but I honestly regret introducing them to the game. I just wanted to do some murder mystery :"L
If you're a real one you're going to help him get off of it, just give him a good classic Sonic game and he'll forget about vrchat like it never existed
@@-originalLemon- I've tried multiple times before we split. Said maybe we should branch to other things so we could relate more. Gave them time to cope, gave them cards even that I made personally, would try and get my friends to help them be motivated. Met someone on vrc yesterday that's the same age as me except she was dating a 22 year old, a 22 year old that threatened to rape her. I advised her to file a report, as any sane human being should. She protested and protected his actions, what a world we live in. For reference she turned 18 two week ago, while they've been "Friends" for way longer. Truly insane people.
Upon realizing that my cute uwu pookie wasn't a 60 year old man, I fell into a deep depression. I still cry sometimes thinking about it. Guys this was a half assed joke, when the hell did I get 2.6k likes
@@DmitryB-153I have a friend who is cool but every time he got me on he just looked at a mirror and invited people to do it with. Kinda creepy (and boring).
It’s not so bad if you don’t go into public lobbies, to me it’s just been a good way to hang out with my long distance friends that I can’t see in person
Welcome to vrchat, we're insane, depressed, alcoholics, creeps or just casual people, dont trust anyone for who they say they are and keep all convos in the ride at all times.
There genuinely needs to be an in depth psychological study on these people. I'm reading through the comments and it's incredibly gut wrenching to see how common it is for friends to "lose" other friends to VRchat. I had an ex a bit ago who spiraled into exclusively playing furry nsfw worlds, and his younger brother (who was also an adult) would literally spend at least 12 hours a DAY on the thing and sleep in his headset. It's truly depressing and horrible
i can say it before even watching the video 1. the little kids knowing things they shouldnt know at the age of 4 2. the toxic community quite literally making me want to kms 3. the 13-30 year old couples (huge age gap) 4. the fact that most popular games dont have ANYTHING to do (its just a mirror) It hurts me desperatly
A lost a friend because of this game, I played VRChat for leisure fun to mess with people. I introduced him into this game and he spiraled out of control while he played on his own time to the point where he lived on this game and essentially got groomed at 16 and ended up with a ERP cult and a week in was in a 'relationship' with someone years older than him in the game. Since then bro racked up 3k hours from living on this game and essentially sleeping with his VR headset on too. Shits sad and I was just pushed aside. It was 8 years I was friends with this guy and suddenly I'm just not existing. Gotta admit it's prolly my fault but it is what it is, never introducing anyone else in my circle about this game. Actually met one of his new 'friends' in-game once and sounded awfully pedo-like tone in his voice, my gut seriously was telling me to stay away. All they talked about was erotic garbage to where it was nauseating. This place is dangerous for what it is and wish I could go back before the Quests and Covid days. The fact kids are infecting this game at such an alarming rate is disgusting and VRChat devs just let it happen. I like coming back to this game just for chatting and meeting people, play some of the mini-games it has to offer. But damn, most of the people on this platform are sad to deal with. Not much better than Discord honestly.
I know how you feel. I have a childhood friend who I’ve been friends with for 9 years and I introduced them to vr and vrchat was one of those games. Now all he does is play vrchat and stopped talking to me when I wanted to help him get his life together.
“Erp has started seeping into games like roblox” as a veteran former roblox child… it’s been a problem for a long time, to the point where dedicated ERP games would be on the roblox homepage, truly the doom of humanity
VRchat is amazing when you dont use it to make friends, but rather hang out with people you already know. Every saturday night is basically a 3-4 hour vrchat session of exploring interesting worlds, watching a movie, and drinking of course. Thank god for private lobbies
Yeah. Not everybody has the luxury of having friends in their older ages. I’m 23 and have nobody , no real friends who arethere for me. That’s why I feel VRchat would be good for me. Antisocial, introvert
There are bad apples everywhere just keep your self safe and mindful I honesty find some of the people funny to watch be dumbasses and wired people laugh for a bit then leave its fun for boring nights
I’d say, the best thing I did in vrchat, was give a kid the dad he never had, but wanted, the play baseball with your son type of dad. One day he broke down with tears of joy telling me I was a better dad than his own. knowing I changed a kid’s life forever that day, I ugly cried, the good kind.
Children…… children everywhere. I’m joking I’m joking no I actually had this experience more recently. A adult female asked me, an autistic minor to be her boyfriend….. I did the logical thing and left
I had a phase with Vrchat, it was when I started working overnight so I figured it would be nice to have somewhere to socialize (P.s it was also when squid game came out so I played the vrc version of it so much) For a long time it was a great place, I had a ton of fun with people and made so many unique friends. I was so into it I made an entire soundboard of postal dude lines and would manage to have full conversations as him. But after awhile all the people I knew got outed for being horrible peeps, and eventually I just could not find chill people. Either everyone was overtly sexual, narcissistic or just depressing to be around :/ so I stopped playing, it’s a shame cause I think the game could be neat but it’s full of rough people
Normal people play it from time to time if at all, addicted no-lifers are on 24/7 and produce the majority of its content. All virtual spaces that allow pornographic content (and even some that don't) inevitably turn out this way, because the stable people play less, the unstable people play more, and eventually the unstable ones drive away the stable ones with their obscenity.
@@KnoxEmDownwell said, it’s the people with the most free time that tend to be the worst kinds of people to be around on things like this. If VR chat had been a thing when I was a cringy socially inept 16 yo I probably would’ve lived on this fucking game. Now as a (somewhat) more mature adult I still think it looks fun, but I’d never find the time to play it. Games like this eliminate for insufferable social rejects in a way.
@@CrazyLikeUhFox fr dude, 16 yo me would've loved this, but I have to be in a specific mood to enjoy Vrchat. Sometimes I get a group of chill people for a couple hours, its great. But I can go weeks with hopping in for 15 minutes and leaving cause everyone's fucking insane.
yknow this is the kinda thing about "a lot of hours in the worst games". like i say gta online is just kinda bad, even if i have 2700 hours on the game total. we with a lot of hours can say full well how bad something is cause we have a lot of experience on it, or maybe because they by nature tend to be good hangout games, so there's no real reason to stop unless you wanna like explore your library or afford more. so yeah, a lot of hours but saying its bad means you can say it with more certainty than someone with like 10 hours.
I play vrchat regularly, its pretty bad, if you go into publics all the time, once you find a good group you will honestly end up finding a growing pool of chill people to hangout with, its just getting through the initial experience of finding people, and then not touching publics or at the very least avoiding certain worlds.
A friend introduced me to this game and warned me of the people who date around constantly so I went in with the mindset of only finding new friends and have fun only to come out having fun and finding a husband but in between was a lot of other girls/women cussing me out, boys/guys being creeps asking to ERP and even a few young girls asking me to be their mother. Has the game changed me? Not really, still very socially anxious but was I better off? Absolutely. I would go back to VRChat but only to spend time with close friends.
Had a friend who played VRChat for like a week, I was genuinely shocked how quickly he turned into a degen. Thankfully he has moved on and regrets his decisions. I didn’t know much about it until him, and that event alone has completely deterred me from ever installing it.
YT is a social platform, and because it enforces rules that don't allow for UTTERLY degenerate behaviour, it's still going just fine VRC's problem is moderation. It's impossible to moderate consistently. Let's not pretend that VRC's social culture is just like any other social platform because it isn't. It's full of depraved weirdos and young social outcasts who get preyed on. That describes 1/3 of its whole userbase You can't really say the same about other social platforms that are properly moderated. I've seen men in their 20s dare children as young as 14 to drink alcohol, out in a public room. if you posted the same conversation publicly on Twitter or FB or YT or most social spaces with proper moderation, you'd get dogpiled.
People spend $1000+ on FBT to realize they only really need 3 trackers, being waist/hips and both feet. Then sit in a world blasting music in front of a mirror for 14 hours straight, sleep then repeat and not even use the FBT, they wear Eboy with FBT to look cool and act Gangsta init bruv and its just sad....
My irl friend got a vr headset and started playing this, he’s never been the same since that day. Today he gets 23 hours per day average on vr chat. I WISH I was joking :( he doesn’t show up to events, he doesn’t want to hang out anymore. All he does is play vrchat. It’s genuinely sad.

It's crazy how people were proud of having 10,000+ hours on VRC and shaming me for only reaching my first 2,000 hours after having played on and off since 2018. 💀
@@ThePimpinator they said in the comment "after having played on and off since 2018", we can probably safely say that alot of the chunk OF that time was during the 2020 pandemic, which makes sense, so yes they probably do have a life, 2k hours CAN be alot but in this context it really isn't

as a vrchat player one of my first experiences was seeing a naked man chase a child around while his friends egged him on honestly felt horrible to see especially since i couldnt do much but just report him and block him so yeah it can be pretty bad
I love VRC and here's all I have to say: Virtually every problem outlined in this video is 1000% accurate, which is why I very rarely go to public worlds. I have a close-knit group of friends I trust and we hop on every once in a while to meet up in a cool new world and play games. I absolutely love spending time in VRC but NOT interacting with the vast majority of the community. Don't let this vid dissuade you, there are so many incredible places to see and people to meet, just have to find the diamonds in the rough and you'll have amazing experiences
Wait.... So making an avatar private doesn't even work? That's what I'm getting from the "you worked several painful hours on an avatar? Too bad, mine now." part.
Ripping is truly a mess. Even noobs without any skills can just rip an avatar within 15 minutes, basically Unity-ready. Shortly said - making your avatar private makes it impossible for others to use, but ripping is basically just stealing the files. It used to be worse, as Ripperstore was still a thing. Ripperstore even made some kind of tournament, who does rip the most avatars within a certain time. Nowadays Ripperstore only has the forum left, which isn't that bad.
@@fabianremie9888 Unless your avatar isn't a default booth model, no. The moment you enter a lobby with people, there is a risk of people ripping it. But that's a given. Most people are too lazy though, so you should ve fine. Making it private prevents most people from using it.
my friend who was around 14-15 played vr chat with a headset and according to him people just immediately got too close and other stuff to him and made him uncomfortable so yeah, its certainly a game.
Usually tell anyone who's not 18 to step off the game, while I never experienced any creeps myself, I know they exist and would rather that not to happen to someone.
@@thedogatemyname9982 to be entirely fair to him, if you are a 14 year old and fully grown adults immediately get close and cuddly with potentially sexually themed avatars or comments... People. Including some weird shit.
VRchat died when they ruined the presentation room drawing ability. They were probably adapting worlds to quest perfomance and lots of fine worlds turned into potato.
ERP has been in other games a lot longer than VRChat to be fair. Back in 2012 there used to be a minecraft server called Sexycraft and that was basically just an ERP Minecraft server. It lasted till about 2018 when the owner just refused to keep it up. Degeneracy is infinite in this world.
as a VRC player, i can confirm that Vrchat has its downside, so much so that i mostly don't got to public lobbies unless a friend I know well is there, because is most of the time, is very chaotic. I keep myself with my friend group in friend + lobbies, so that random peoples cannot join and i keep myself on orange. so a recommendation to new VRC players: Explore like you want and make friends, but always remember to keep your Safety settings pretty high, and if an avatar is too much for you, you can always click on the person and hide their avatar, and as for someone being annoying/toxic, you can always mute them, and as a last resort, block them. Also, I'd recommend looking at people's banners above their name, to find yourself a nice group of friends to join easily and see if there are peoples with similar interest.
Common opinion I see, but I’ve see the absolute worst side the platform has, I was dating a girl but then she got addicted to vrchat and shortly after I broke up with her, not long after she started faking DID and got involved with pretty bad people and she basically became the worst person I’d ever met, I have a friend who plays vrc frequently but not too much, he actively has horror stories from public worlds, vrchat is a gross platform I hate it with my entire being, I hope it eventually gets shut down or replaced
Played VRC for several minutes, it was the most boring experience ever, so now it just sits in my steam library being apart of my game list for no reason
Back when I first started playing, I was deep into the ugandan knuckles trend. I was this little squeaker asking people if they know the way and then spitting on them. Me and some of my friends used to troll the shit out of rp servers back then. Now, I've lost some of em' to the erp scene in VR Chat. For me, I've moved on with my life, actually trying to make real life friends and strengthening my social life in high school. My old friends are what I would call degenerate losers today. They've become fat and generally lonely people. I've recently booted up VR Chat again, and I joined one of my favorite servers that I used to play back in the day. I noticed it was still pretty active, but it wasn't the same type of people that I had once interacted with. Now, there were near completely nude outfits being worn by men and women and people who were online dating or ERPing. I was simply disgusted at what this game had become, although I am glad that most internet degeneracy is kept in this game. Now that I've moved on with life from this game and video games in general it's become eye opening how far people have strayed from a normal social experience.
Right? I recently redownloaded vrc and there’s so many people who just lay in front of a mirror staring at their big titty egirl avatar for 8+ hours a day while staying completely silent.
VRChat is the worst... when you're playing solely for public servers. When you have trustworthy friends and worlds that aren't just mirrors and low framerates, you get a worthy experience.
Actually facts. Once you get out of publics and establish a friend group that isn't highschool drama/sad people its a great experience once in awhile but I admit that's a lot of steps and effort.
@@firestalker11 i found a nice group of friends even before getting to know vrchat (they made me be interested in the first place), so i guess i'm some lucky cookie xD so when we hang out it's most likely in friends+ instances and playing funny games or chilling around a campfire (they all live far away from me)
As an avatar creator, this is why I have no motivation to create avatars anymore. (edit) Honestly the only reason I even play anymore is cuz a friend of mine has been growing a pretty neat VR exploration community alongside his RUclips audience, and it's the only bastion of hope left for me in this game.
The Pokelawls era of VrChat was peak. I think 2020 was when things really became garbage and the downfall was really noticeable where before you at least found cool people pretty frequently.
VR Chat passed Dead by Daylight as my most played steam game. Absolute blast, its like being a billionaire. Go anywhere do anything... That said the game should be rated M or AO straight up. I get that children want to be included and involved but VR Chat is NOT it. A friend of mine at work was talking about buying their kid a VR headset. I told them: ""Hey, thats awesome! But don't let them play VR Chat."
@@serily4524 Good thing invite, invite +, and friends worlds exit, otherwise 'ruining the community' would be actually possible! I was an avatar creator on VRChat for 3 years and I have a bit to talk about ^^ I agree with much of what was said about VRChat in this video. From my experience optimization and creation was a major pain, there would often be people coming to me about their custom avatar being stolen/force cloned, and I'd get some very weird commissions that go outside of my comfort zone. I would say there are a lot of degenerates but also some really good people on the platform depending on which worlds you visit and what kind of communities stay around them. Recommendations for new peeps: Keep your security settings high because crashers are very popular but can be stopped just by having good security settings. be mindful of the places you visit and think about the people you might meet there, obviously if you go in a not safe world you're gonna meet not safe people. If you get a custom avatar, be careful about giving your account details out because it could be a scam! Check to make sure they've made avatars for other people and possibly get in contact with a few people who have worked with them for their feedback. If you don't want to give out your account details for direct upload, ask if they can make it cloneable from theirs.
Good to know :) I used to suggest to my gf to go play VR chat and have fun but since those days it's completely devolved into something pretty worrying and unsafe. Out of curiosity, what were your commission rates for each kind of avatar service you provided please?
@@MonsterJuiced for most avatars I would charge $40 - $65 based on complexity, toggles, clothing, animation, and if I had to edit the base model to fit something they wanted. @@mintybit That seems really cheap honestly I'm kind of surprised. Looking at vTubers they pay upwards of $500 or more for an avatar. Thanks for opening up about this, I've always wondered myself since a lot of these things seem to be so obscure and veiled
@@mintybit (before reading the rest of this comment just know that there’s nothing wrong with your price) 40~60$? That’s around the price of an actual game. @@Marksmen17 I understand so no worries! Avatars are often very customized to be for the specific user and can even take multiple days to make if they don't respond on discord much or want a lot of future changes. Got annoyed with the price so I started making my own and encouraged people who commission me to do the same!
Man I remember I used to go on VRchat to talk with people and have fun. It used to be my escape from the real world. Now VRchat has become too real. It just feels like a massive night club where people are not intending to make friends but to get laid. I stopped playing in 2023 because of this. It's just not what it used to be. It's just a bunch of degenerates now.
bro during covid shit broke me for like 2 weeks, I was devolving RAPIDLY, think of the most degenerate shit possible, I was a part of it. Bro my body had like a second wind at some point, like a switch flicked in my brain asking me what the FUCK was I doing. I had to snap my friends out of the VRchat trance, they were so brain rotted from the crossdressing, cuddling mutes (40 year old obese men), ... touching and more. We all uninstalled it that day and swore to never mention this to anyone since.
I know that must be embarrassing to admit, but the ability to self reflect and realize it was a problem is something to be proud of honestly. So many can’t do that.
Ngl fucking with people (not like that) in vrchat helped my depression alot and helped me get used to talking about ridiculous stuff without the fear of anything being remembered by people I know and it helped give me a perspective of other parts of the world
One day i just wanted to have goofy fun with a friend of mine in VRchat. Now i lost him to a femboi who he spends more time with than with me or our friends irl.
I remember about 2 days ago there was a server filled with bill ciphers telling everyone to become bill cipher except me because I was Chris Pratt. I followed them into a gravity falls world and now I'm friends with the person who started the group
Ngl, the only reason I use vr chat as a regular console gamer is purely so I could play as my favorite characters just to mess with people saying crazy shit while doing an impression of the character (essentially I did shitpost level (sfw) role plays with randoms in vrc game servers.) It was funny ngl, and people liked that I usually hated seeing nsfw shit while keeping a light tone. So like, thank god my experience was so much better than most people. I’ve done: Carl wheezer, scout, engineer, a space marine, Batman, N from murder drones, sir pentious, Mario, Luigi, rayman, etc. … didn’t stop me from having to see a few nude avatars in public lobbies on instances they didn’t belong in. Sigh
I think that the worst part of VRChat is when you want to give it another chance because you hope its community will change at some point. It's like one of those relationships that are bad for you and everyone around you.
vrchat has some nastly people in it, but it's also an amazing way to express your identity if you don't have the opportunity to at home, also you can hang out with friends if for example its raining outside but you still wanna chill together, i used to do that quite a lot
I'm 11 minutes into your video and so far it's basically just been you describing... you know.... the internet. Every single gripe so far has been something you could apply to any other platform on the internet.
When I first played VRC last summer, I didn't know what to expect. I just saw it trending on YT. But the first world I ever joined was The Black Cat. At first, I saw people talking, so I decided to talk to them for a while next thing I know I'm being roasted on so many levels that I didn't know existed. I was scared for my life. Then I left (after an hour on figuring out on how to leave) So I just went to random music world to cry in my sorrows
To be fair, the "black cat" is a world anyone who played the game would tell you NOT to go in public instances alone. It's where all the players on their way to speedrun nuisance-rank goes and trolls in general. But again, most of the time you have to go there, experience the chaotic nature of it and have someone in another world or a comment section answering you it's just the usual there, to learn about it... It's just the normal "welcome to VRchat" experience. xD
Getting upset about vr chat users roasting you is like the same level as reacting to getting flamed by a polish person like bro all you gotta say is “you’re literally polish”
as someone that easilly has 1k+ hours in multiple games such as overwatch or apex legends etc, im telling u i cant even fathom or imagine someone having hundreds or 1k+ hours in vrchat of all. The term "go outside and touch grass" applies so much more to ppl in vrchat than in other games. Vrchat is in a completely different spot and ppl playing it a lot are down bad
Full agree. Even something like wow, the multiplier on hours is just... Different. If you tell me "I have like 5k hours on wow" I'm like "ahhh so you had a few years of being a bit of a neckbeard/were inside for college/were big into guild stuff" - honestly light hours for wow, from what I've heard. but if I hear 5k in VR chat? 5k with a headset on, potentially several tracking spots, and a screen stuck to your face? Holy shit. And we all know why. In other games, there is skill to be gained, genuine gameplay, etc. Vrchat is just... I've seen the pipeline. It converts people to just being... The worst versions of themselves, on any and all spectrums, so often. It's just like a worse and more horny 4chan board or something at this point for many communities, but with superficial limitations that are never followed and more personal drama.
You know how easy it is to get a thousand hours in VR chat. Really f****** easy when you spend 90% of your time in vrchat watching movies with your friends it's not hard at all it just happens. And to be honest I'd rather spend a thousand hours watching movies with my friends then playing something like Apex are cod I can't imagine that actually sounds like pain those games are competitive and toxic. At least I have fun with my friends watching movies
@@darkblade51224 lol theres a thing called real life where you can watch movies with friends. But you cant be in a battle royale as a dimensional warrior in real life
@@darkblade51224 first off, that entirely depends on time scale. Second off, a movie is 2 hours or so. 1000+ hours is a fucking LOT of movies. Third off, you can play the other games with friends, and have fun doing that as well, or connect over them. I've made some of my best friends in the past by playing competitively locally, and joining a team. We travelled together, had parties and such irl, stayed at each other's houses or at hotels for tourneys, etc. had to get each other through medical issues, go insane at our setups, etc. And I've got like somewhere between 800-1,500hrs on that game. I also watch races and movies with my friends all the time, but I can do that on discord or in person. Vrchat is not "better" than anything because it's a "social platform" because 70%+ of users at this point are brainrotted to hell and back. I know a lot of vrchat players, both online and in person, and it genuinely starts to ruin lives in multiple cases. If you are one of the few that somehow threads the needle while playing constantly, more power to you. But you gotta recognize, there are other ways to watch movies that can be just as / more fulfilling and safe, and you don't have to rely on vrchat to socialize or find friends. This is coming from an autistic person that hides in his room a lot. There are options.
I played it when I was 16 and there were NSFW topics EVERYWHERE. The conversations among the many furries there were absolutely disgusting, especially in front of so many minors.
TL;DW: VRchat is virtual reality's very own Second Life, with all the horror that entails. I remember the first time I played VRchat and went along with some enlisted guy I met who had also just started playing. Within a couple of hours, his avatar had become a little anime girl and he fell into the beginnings of diabolic shenanigans (read: sexual headpatting). As for me, I decided to keep my buff Bulbasaur avatar (which I found while we were exploring a pokemon world of course), and got out of dodge once I saw where things were heading. I tried to take my enlisted buddy with me, but he refused; It seems he had already become enamored with it all. VRchat is a place where the vulnerable go to become addicted to the worst forms of escapism, forms that lead only to spiritual death; It is also where predators go to prey upon said vulnerables. It draws you in with "haha funny virtual reality memes" and then tries to trap you into these terrible things. I wouldn't wish the depths of its evil upon my worst enemy, and I'm thankful to have only scratched the surface and fled. If you're in it, GET OUT! If you still draw breath you can escape it.
Funny thing is, I almost fell into that trap too. I got the game recently and checked it out, and I thought it’d be funny to go running around as a game character and just role-play as one for the jokes. As I was looking for avatars, I saw some really obscene content, and I got suspicions on the game. So I checked out reviews and warnings on the game, and figured that I needed to get out and delete the game ASAP before I go down the wrong path. Looking back now and seeing this video, I can tell I made the right choice.
@@McPoshua Yes, yes you did. Unfortunately, social games that rely on user-generated content and don't clamp down on pornographic material always wind up this way.
Yes, it can be very bizarre to witness. I remember those old Second Life trolling vids from long ago. Normal people vs. the deranged, and constant hijinks ensuing afterwards. It's funny on the surface, but it just becomes sad when you realize that they're disturbed individuals. When you realize that it's not them necessarily having fun, but trying to compensate for whatever they're lacking irl. That's when it becomes sad asf. To just see the fellow human behave like this. To see them give up and retreat into a false virtual paradise. Not only does it establish a pipeline for the vulnerable, enticing them with great efficiency, it also establishes a pipeline for the outcasts. The bad kind of outcasts. The ones who know they're evil at heart, and full of insanity. It appeals to them too, and it gives them a space where they're tolerated. And then they share this space with all other kinds of people. It is exactly what those bad actors want. It gives them everything a person could only have nightmares of. It's not just spiritual damage, it's psychological damage too. All a person can do is just observe the consequences of its creation.
Many of the points made here make sense. There is a good part of the community, and of course there are parts that are bad. Pardon my adding of my experience, however I make content in VRC as well and have experienced so much. Most days it's fun meeting new folks and chat, or even going to cool worlds that have been created. Other times it can be a snooze fest of arguing, harassment and other horrible things. No doubt there are terrible sections of VRC. And that is an understatement. At the end of the day I was one of the lucky ones that has more good memories rather than bad. That doesn't eliminate some of the bad moments. Even after all of this I still do not regret meeting some of my greatest friends on there. Maybe some day VRC won't be as bad, we can dream.
Understanding vrchat is like understanding the internet. Those who don’t use it often only see the bad and those who use it understand that there are weirdos and how to avoid them.
I've been a member of my local dubstep/rave community ever since i was 16 in real life; i am now 23. When i started playing vrchat heavily during covid i tried to find that scene in VrChat because i just wanted friends that liked dubstep too. What I found was the ultimate form of cancer. These people didnt care about the music at all, these are real producers/artists performing playing their music and most of these people didnt give af about the music. They just wanted to watch themselves dance in their overally sexual avatars or attention and to say they went to a "Rave" (the dubstep scene has very certain ways we dance to our type of music so it was very obvious when someone wasn't a real fan). As someone whos been going to raves for years I do dress half naked in real life as its part of the fashion and its VERY hot at those events.. and i never had the need to wear an overally sexualized female anime character. The desperation for male attention in this game is ridiculous when most of the people in this game are 4s on a good day. They aren't used to attention in real life so they get it in this game and become addicted. Not that im any better than these people but i understand what im seeing. If anything is the utter disrespect for the dubstep community that people indulge in that pisses me off the most.
"They aren't used to attention in real life so they get it in this game and become addicted." THIS. This is exactly what has me hooked. I even act in ways I otherwise wouldn't so I can get just a bit more of it. Its horrible, but it is what having no friends for years in real life does to a person, I guess. It started out as something to help with my lack of a social life, though now, nearing 2.5k hours, I feel its begun to _replace_ it rather than substitute it.
@JagiUGG I like your statement I feel like that's very true for me as well "its begun replace it rather than substitute it.". Honestly its a very consuming environment everyone acts that way so you become like that too and honestly at least you can recognize but there are many that can't. I was hooked the same way but I've realized most of my "friends" on VrChat now I don't even remember most of their names. Most of my friends are online but I usually manage to turn those these online friendships into real life friendships and I find that I get so much dopamine from hanging out with friends in real life much more than I ever did on VrChat. Of course I still hang out with my friends on discord and play games but I try to stray away from toxic environments such as huge discord servers and VrChat; its more of a genuine experience.. but for a long time I never really had that experience so I didn't even know what that was like .(also I feel like VrChat has the vibe of a huge discord server where people have alot of ego and there are alot of attention-seeking people they are pretty similar to me in that sense).
@@womanofficialx Haven't really hung out properly with anyone in years so I cant really remember what its like. I have no irl friends. I do try to get to know the people on VRC to the best of my ability. Always get their Discord as soon as its okay to do so, ask about them, talk to them, I try my best to remember all the details including birthdays and names.. I just try and make it work, I guess
I get what you’re saying about the dancing being a certain way, but you can’t say that just cuz someone isn’t dancing a certain way that everyone else does in the scene, that they aren’t a real fan
I had an interaction in VR chat where some players admitted to trying to lock themselves in VRChat for as long as possible to develop "phantom touch" - a psychosis where when they see their avatar touch or be touched in game they fool their brains into "feeling it" irl
The game is filled with groomers. I only played it for a little bit but one time some guy kept trying to tell me I might be gay and I should flirt with him. Told him to f off and haven't played since. Now imagine these types of people doing this to minors

@@robertsears8323That's not true. But that can be said about most things, really. Even if the bad isn't that noticeable (but in this case, VRC's bad is pretty prominent).
@@j0doe1 There is just nothing bad in VRChat. In this whole video I didn't see anyone doing anything wrong.

Virtually every problem outlined in this video is 1000% accurate, which is why I very rarely go to public worlds.

I played this back in 2018, 2019 with some good friends and it was honestly one of the funniest gaming experience ever.

as a VRC player, i can confirm that Vrchat has its downside, so much so that i mostly don't got to public lobbies unless a friend I know well is there, because is most of the time, is very chaotic.
The worst thing i ever did was aways in private lobbys with nobody in the lobby
Another recommendation is just dont play it, which is arguably the better option

I was an avatar creator on VRChat for 3 years and I have a bit to talk about ^^
I agree with much of what was said about VRChat in this video.
Recommendations for new peeps:
Keep your security settings high because crashers are very popular but can be stopped just by having good security settings. be mindful of the places you visit and think about the people you might meet there, obviously if you go in a not safe world you're gonna meet not safe people.

Vrchat is just... I've seen the pipeline. It converts people to just being... The worst versions of themselves, on any and all spectrums, so often. It's just like a worse and more horny 4chan board or something at this point for many communities, but with superficial limitations that are never followed and more personal drama.
You know how easy it is to get a thousand hours in VR chat. Really f****** easy when you spend 90% of your time in vrchat watching movies with your friends it's not hard at all it just happens.

Thanks bro. We shall overcome its evil together as one. Lord help those people, man...
I have to unfortunately be blunt about this...
Your worse enemies deserve a horrible fate sometimes, it's called KARMA.
"They aren't used to attention in real life so they get it in this game and become addicted."
THIS.
