My IT teacher (really cool dude) said he really likes the show since he was forced to watch some with his kid. He said since the creators supposedly noticed a lot of parents watched it with their kids they slowly started putting jokes and references to other media in that only older people would understand.

A guy in my friend group that i grew up with was a brony/furry, i didnt hang out with him much myself individually but my main interactions with him were gaming nights with some homies on evening in high school. A lot of our buddies didnt like him and were just put off by his hobbies (fur suit stuff and his room covered in mlp things). I'd do my best to give the guy a chance but some of the sh!t he'd do would just be so degenerate like talk about how hot some of the characters are from the show, discuss out loud to some of us about his special soft pony toy with a hole in it he has that he "enjoys". Can only tolerate being around that sh!t for so long, i stopped hanging out with the guy before highschool ended. Too much of that community just weirds me tf out lol

There are always a good and bad side to any fandom tbh You can't escape it, as long as you steer clear of that part of the fandom It can be a nice experience, with some really friendly and cool people. I for one, can appreciate the show creators for making a kids show that has a surprising amount of depth, story and lore with some great characters, with traits that make them stand out. Pretty rare for shows like that these days

I wish to apologize for the oodles of satire and controversial content that surrounded the show. No one, young or old, deserves to be subjected to that kind of stuff... The show itself is awesome and actual has a ton of moral values you could apply irl, but was sometimes stained from the actions of "bad actors" in the fandom.

I think adults who like the show aren’t inherently complete freaks, tbh I can maybe see where they’re coming from. MLP isn’t my thing, but I think some adults find a sort of comfort in indulging in kids media? Speaking as someone who's been an MLP fan for over a decade, that's a pretty fair comment. I think something people miss in analyses is that in Equestria friendship is _literally_ magic, sometimes as in world-saving level magic, and that appeals to a lot of folks who are having a tough time/life in whatever way. Which is a lot of people these days. Now I'm in the UK (which is one reason I was interested to see a British guy do one of these videos, though in truth it's pretty similar to many others) and I've long thought the UK fandom is a bit quieter than the US one and the better for it. Our largest convention, for example, bans *all* body pillows whether SFW or not, and that stance is very widely supported.
Maybe it was just video games, but the different setting from greys and seriousness gave a breath of fresh air, and at least despite joining later, part of that enjoyment is characters being friends and being able to openly express it instead of a backhanded compliment or remark(the word backhanded makes it seem less sincere than most of them were, but it was certainly a break from convention if nothing else)

alright so been an mlp fan since 2018 thats quite late actually notice how i say “fan” and not pegasister/brony i was 12 yeah. i have bad experiences with the fandom lmao, and i hate the amount of “that” stuff was around. and even the gore videos that were around. now I wasn’t there at the height of the fandom but saw the “end” i still love mlp, back then it got me through my worst times, ive always been super innocent about everything and it helped me :) so it was pretty painful being around that fandom, full of people who liked it for other reasons. But there was some cool people there too. for example sfw artists, animators, plush makers etc anyway yeah because of all the bs i went away from mlp for years but felt pretty weird like i was missing something. So more recently ive been into it again and the fandom doesn’t seem as extreme as it used to be I randomly decided to comment this idk why tldr: show good- helped me a lot, is a shame about the negative sides of the fandom, i was personally so annoyed by that.

I don't like the term "brony", but I've been a fan for a while. I'm always disappointed and saddened when I review these cases - having heard about them time and time again. I do wish to apologize on behalf of the fandom, but I also just want to stress that with the vastness of the internet, bad apples do not mean the entire orchard is rotten. Been a fan all the way around the fandom's inception in 2011. The show's really important to me and helped me go through some hard times in my childhood-teenaged years, but some of the stuff that some degens in fandom seemed to do almost once a year really stings to remember. I still hold onto MLP - the show itself is really therapeutic and chill, and the fandom's best sides really stick to me despite all the thing this video mentioned. But of course there's this shit - which is why having an MLP profile pic anywhere can get people to start making fun of you or automatically calling you a degen, at this point they don't even care whether or not you "clop" or are unlike the cases in the video - there are fans who are strictly SFW, and they still get pelted with "ponyfucker" and "clopper". I cannot stress to everyone that the fandom is really vast in terms of who it may attract. It's one of the widest spectrums I've seen. There are fans of various ages, nationalities, religious views, and whatnot - and it's sadly inevitable that bad people just don't get filtered. We have a lot of really talented and chill people - musicians, animators, writers, VA's, and youtubers, and I hope one day the scrutiny around the fandom will, if not disappear, at-least be balanced by the good that does exist. I want "my tribe" to be remembered fondly, you know? Who wants to be associated with shit like vid related? Apart from that, I just hope that these degens will stop being "blanketed stereotypes" for all MLP fans. I've met hundreds of other fans over some 13 years, and we all curse these guys for the stupid things they did that give us a bad rep. It really sucks having some fan do something crazy and it gets spread online, but the best I can do is stay loyal to the show that really pulled me out of a shitty time in my life and do my best to prove these are exceptions, not the rule. Sure this text is yapping, and doesn't hold up against the dwindling attention span of the internet, but it's what I feel strongly about. Hasbro agreed, but still mostly focused it on as a kids show, with more kid themes. however, when a lot adults started to watch the show and publicly say they watched it, they started to go more the family route (see the season 4 finale, or season 5 premiere). I saw memes prior to watching the show. My best friend and his brother sat me down and pulled up the first episode. I rolled my eyes and watched. It ends on a cliffhanger, so of course I had to watch the second episode. Kept going until season 8. I never finished the series. I don't intend to, either. The feeling of there still being something "new" I can go back to makes me feel better than if I had finished the series.

I started watching in S2 of G4 of MLP. I enjoyed the show quite a bit. I mean the show actually helped me with my depression at first. It just made me feel happy. I’m glad you gave a fair perspective on the show. You’re not like “I watched it for 4 minutes and was the worst thing ever.”(trust me I’ve heard some haters say that before.) The bad bronies do give most of the moderate fans a bad name. I was aware of cloppers, but never wanted to associate myself with them. I watch the show, have some merch and that’s where I stop. If you go online to sites like R34 you’re going to see a completely different side of the fandom which are the degenerates. I suggest you stay away from those sites and just watch where you go. Good video, I enjoyed it.

I'm actually a brony myself but I'm more of a moderate brony, I don't usually go and watch the Gen 4 and Gen 5 shows 24/7, went to Walmart or a Dolar General to get a MLP plushie or toy and fill up a jar with a Rainbow Dash with my own fluids. I'm just a normal guy who likes MLP and also has a crush on one of the female characters but never express it out on the open, I have my own needs and do other things like play video games, do art, watch some videos, movies, TV shows, anime or another cartoon show. I'm not even afraid to show who I am and I'm just proud of it. I even have friends who are bronies but they are tamed and ok Also when you mentioned Las Vegas, I was amazed that you referred to the New Vegas strip and as a Fallout New Vegas fan I appreciated it, more respect to you

Lauren Faust said she wanted to reboot the show in such a way that the male caregivers of the little girls who were the target audience could watch it with their little sisters, daughters, nieces, cousins, etc. without wanting to claw their eyes out. Having been obliged to watch it with my daughter, I have to say she succeeded. Unfortunately, by making the big-picture show arc about the personal growth of a single-interest character with no friends and next to no social graces, she seems to have inadvertently laid the groundwork for self-identification by of one of the most dysfunctional, pathological fandom subsets in cartoon history.
To be fair, I started off the same after I watched the first 3 episodes of the show in season 1. However, later I went back to try and binge the rest of the series for the sake of it and it gets way better. Show doesn't properly find it's footing until around episode 5 or so. You didn't even watch the episode "Lesson Zero" which is widely known as one of the more mature episodes in the series and it doesn't require past knowledge to enjoy. To put it simply, your experience with the show is kinda invalid since you didn't watch at least half of season 1.
This is what i hate about most people who doesnt even try giving the show a chance and only judge it by the cover. Tbh this show is way more mature written than a show like Hazbin Hotel or any other adult shows (Which is sad but blessing) This show greatly tackled mature concepts that many kids of the demographic WOULDNT understand. It even tackled death, attempted suicide and slavery for crying out lout (this show was also the beginning of the 2010 cartoon renascence. You can judge the show for being girly, but once u actually get deeper with the show, you'll realized how quality it is. As a teen girl who was actually the target demographic for the show when it came out and watched it, i can give you my perspective on why i love my little pony(im not a brony tho). Yeah i know its probably not on par with shows like adventure time but its very comforting to watch when it doesn't focus on serious stories.and when it does its actually really good. It had some good villains too. I actually like that that thr old brony fandom has died out. Now a lot of fans are young girls that watched the show when they were little, wich was actually what most my little pony fans were before g4 came out. Even the creator Lauren fuast had a genuine love for my little pony since she grew up with the 80s show and toys. Its just really fun to watch a cute girly show that isn't too serious.The old fandom is so weird and gross. Im glad i wasn't a part of that fandom.

6:02 I have a 4 yr old daughter, so we watched the new MLP movie when it came out a few years ago. Then she circled around to Friendship is Magic. We watched it, and i was surprised at how good the storyline was. Honestly, maybe, just maybe, if I had a day or two with no kids, some good shrooms, and the right mindset, I might enjoy a season or two of the show 😂

I used to be a brony back when covid hit (I found comfort in the wholesomeness of the show). My only interaction with the community was through the internet, and what I saw is pretty bad. For everyone 5 normal people there was one of those degen people, and they always tried to be at the forefront of most interactions. There was never anywhere free of them which really sucked since some of the normal people where pretty cool. Around 2022 I packed my bags and dipped, only keeping contact with 2 people I met. The bad apples are unfortunately really rotten in this case.

A guy in my friend group that i grew up with was a brony/furry, i didnt hang out with him much myself individually but my main interactions with him were gaming nights with some homies on evening in high school. A lot of our buddies didnt like him and were just put off by his hobbies (fur suit stuff and his room covered in mlp things). I'd do my best to give the guy a chance but some of the sh!t he'd do would just be so degenerate like talk about how hot some of the characters are from the show, discuss out loud to some of us about his special soft pony toy with a hole in it he has that he "enjoys". Can only tolerate being around that sh!t for so long, i stopped hanging out with the guy before highschool ended. Too much of that community just weirds me tf out lol

Speaking as someone who's been an MLP fan for over a decade, that's a pretty fair comment. I think something people miss in analyses is that in Equestria friendship is _literally_ magic, sometimes as in world-saving level magic, and that appeals to a lot of folks who are having a tough time/life in whatever way. Which is a lot of people these days. Now I'm in the UK (which is one reason I was interested to see a British guy do one of these videos, though in truth it's pretty similar to many others) and I've long thought the UK fandom is a bit quieter than the US one and the better for it. Our largest convention, for example, bans *all* body pillows whether SFW or not, and that stance is very widely supported.
Maybe it was just video games, but the different setting from greys and seriousness gave a breath of fresh air, and at least despite joining later, part of that enjoyment is characters being friends and being able to openly express it instead of a backhanded compliment or remark(the word backhanded makes it seem less sincere than most of them were, but it was certainly a break from convention if nothing else)

i still love mlp, back then it got me through my worst times, ive always been super innocent about everything and it helped me :)
so it was pretty painful being around that fandom, full of people who liked it for other reasons. But there was some cool people there too. for example sfw artists, animators, plush makers etc
anyway yeah because of all the bs i went away from mlp for years but felt pretty weird like i was missing something. So more recently ive been into it again and the fandom doesn’t seem as extreme as it used to be

I don't like the term "brony", but I've been a fan for a while. I'm always disappointed and saddened when I review these cases - having heard about them time and time again. I do wish to apologize on behalf of the fandom, but I also just want to stress that with the vastness of the internet, bad apples do not mean the entire orchard is rotten.
Been a fan all the way around the fandom's inception in 2011. The show's really important to me and helped me go through some hard times in my childhood-teenaged years, but some of the stuff that some degens in fandom seemed to do almost once a year really stings to remember. I still hold onto MLP - the show itself is really therapeutic and chill, and the fandom's best sides really stick to me despite all the thing this video mentioned.
But of course there's this shit - which is why having an MLP profile pic anywhere can get people to start making fun of you or automatically calling you a degen, at this point they don't even care whether or not you "clop" or are unlike the cases in the video - there are fans who are strictly SFW, and they still get pelted with "ponyfucker" and "clopper".
I cannot stress to everyone that the fandom is really vast in terms of who it may attract. It's one of the widest spectrums I've seen. There are fans of various ages, nationalities, religious views, and whatnot - and it's sadly inevitable that bad people just don't get filtered. We have a lot of really talented and chill people - musicians, animators, writers, VA's, and youtubers, and I hope one day the scrutiny around the fandom will, if not disappear, at-least be balanced by the good that does exist. I want "my tribe" to be remembered fondly, you know? Who wants to be associated with shit like vid related? Apart from that, I just hope that these degens will stop being "blanketed stereotypes" for all MLP fans. I've met hundreds of other fans over some 13 years, and we all curse these guys for the stupid things they did that give us a bad rep.
It really sucks having some fan do something crazy and it gets spread online, but the best I can do is stay loyal to the show that really pulled me out of a shitty time in my life and do my best to prove these are exceptions, not the rule. Sure this text is yapping, and doesn't hold up against the dwindling attention span of the internet, but it's what I feel strongly about. Is just my 'bidness, see?

Lauren Faust, the creator of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (aka MLP:FIM, aka G4) wanted the show to be a *family* show, not just a kids show. Hasbro agreed, but still mostly focused it on as a kids show, with more kid themes. however, when a lot adults started to watch the show and publicly say they watched it, they started to go more the family route (see the season 4 finale, or season 5 premiere).

I saw memes prior to watching the show. My best friend and his brother sat me down and pulled up the first episode. I rolled my eyes and watched. It ends on a cliffhanger, so of course I had to watch the second episode. Kept going until season 8. I never finished the series. I don't intend to, either. The feeling of there still being something "new" I can go back to makes me feel better than if I had finished the series.
There's a youtube channel called LIttleShyFim that posts a top 10 pony videos compilation every month, for the past 10 years, and still going strong today. Fans will create content forever.

I started watching in S2 of G4 of
MLP. I enjoyed the show quite a bit. I mean the show actually helped me with my depression at first. It just made me feel happy. I’m glad you gave a fair perspective on the show. You’re not like “I watched it for 4 minutes and was the worst thing ever.”(trust me I’ve heard some haters say that before.) The bad bronies do give most of the moderate fans a bad name. I was aware of cloppers, but never wanted to associate myself with them. I watch the show, have some merch and that’s where I stop. If you go online to sites like R34 you’re going to see a completely different side of the fandom which are the degenerates. I suggest you stay away from those sites and just watch where you go. Good video, I enjoyed it.

I'm actually a brony myself but I'm more of a moderate brony, I don't usually go and watch the Gen 4 and Gen 5 shows 24/7, went to Walmart or a Dolar General to get a MLP plushie or toy and fill up a jar with a Rainbow Dash with my own fluids.
I'm just a normal guy who likes MLP and also has a crush on one of the female characters but never express it out on the open, I have my own needs and do other things like play video games, do art, watch some videos, movies, TV shows, anime or another cartoon show.
I'm not even afraid to show who I am and I'm just proud of it. I even have friends who are bronies but they are tamed and ok

Lauren Faust said she wanted to reboot the show in such a way that the male caregivers of the little girls who were the target audience could watch it with their little sisters, daughters, nieces, cousins, etc. without wanting to claw their eyes out. Having been obliged to watch it with my daughter, I have to say she succeeded.
Unfortunately, by making the big-picture show arc about the personal growth of a single-interest character with no friends and next to no social graces, she seems to have inadvertently laid the groundwork for self-identification by of one of the most dysfunctional, pathological fandom subsets in cartoon history.
To be fair, I started off the same after I watched the first 3 episodes of the show in season 1.
However, later I went back to try and binge the rest of the series for the sake of it and it gets way better.
Show doesn't properly find it's footing until around episode 5 or so.
You didn't even watch the episode "Lesson Zero" which is widely known as one of the more mature episodes in the series and it doesn't require past knowledge to enjoy.
To put it simply, your experience with the show is kinda invalid since you didn't watch at least half of season 1.
This is what i hate about most people who doesnt even try giving the show a chance and only judge it by the cover. Tbh this show is way more mature written than a show like Hazbin Hotel or any other adult shows (Which is sad but blessing)
This show greatly tackled mature concepts that many kids of the demographic WOULDNT understand. It even tackled death, attempted suicide and slavery for crying out lout (this show was also the beginning of the 2010 cartoon renascence.
You can judge the show for being girly, but once u actually get deeper with the show, you'll realized how quality it is. At this point, try searching "Twilight vs Tirek" just to see if it'll get ur interest

As a teen girl who was actually the target demographic for the show when it came out and watched it, i can give you my perspective on why i love my little pony(im not a brony tho). Yeah i know its probably not on par with shows like adventure time but its very comforting to watch when it doesn't focus on serious stories.and when it does its actually really good. It had some good villains too. I actually like that that thr old brony fandom has died out. Now a lot of fans are young girls that watched the show when they were little, wich was actually what most my little pony fans were before g4 came out. Even the creator Lauren fuast had a genuine love for my little pony since she grew up with the 80s show and toys. Its just really fun to watch a cute girly show that isn't too serious.The old fandom is so weird and gross. Im glad i wasn't a part of that fandom.

I used to be a brony back when covid hit (I found comfort in the wholesomeness of the show). My only interaction with the community was through the internet, and what I saw is pretty bad. For everyone 5 normal people there was one of those degen people, and they always tried to be at the forefront of most interactions. There was never anywhere free of them which really sucked since some of the normal people where pretty cool. Around 2022 I packed my bags and dipped, only keeping contact with 2 people I met. The bad apples are unfortunately really rotten in this case.
