Really helpful video for me. I'm masters in overwatch but it's just such a miserable experience that I tried paladins as a joke with some friends. I was really surprised how good it was and I'm totally for the idea of dropping OW for paladins at this point and trying the ranked mode here.
It's dangerous to give them any character in my experience. I normally try to get them on the easiest tank I can because if I put them on healer they won't heal me :/
One thing I'd like to say, coming from Platinum 1. You should know how to play at least 2 from each role, but you should also know how to play every single one from one of the 4 roles: Front Line, Support, Direct Damage and Area Damage.
THIS IS WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR WHEN I WANTED TO START COMP. I was so confused as why is everyone leaving the point and going everywhere while I'm just stuck with payload duty :P
Silver King . I remember slaughtering players with maeve in casual, so i decided to try comp... That game almost made me cry (haha rly) i couldnt kill anyone and every time i try i fail, i couldnt help it cause in casual is easier and smoother so i was so good. I never played comp after my team was so salty at me (ofc) cause i played like shit. Well i plan on playing comp ofc after learning more and how to deal with salty players.
Vicsi ya ify but some players that are new after they have 12 heroes and lvl 15 they rush to comp. And sometimes they can ruin the game of a rank player so i advice that casual 1st and practice hard cause some pro or better players play casual or tdm
Silver King i played comp after unlocking it learned so much more than I could ever have in casual. It made me the player who I am today. A mid master player with several champs in the leaderboard.
Shut-inNEET good for you just know how to adjust your roles because you need to be versatile or flexible so that you can use any hero for the mean time
i recommend all the new paladins players to watch and apply the tips from this vid... cuz im tired of that occasional newbie who selfishly picks whatever the shit he wants!!! ie: viktor (when we need a support!!!)
I’m relatively new, but have played 326 hours, and in all my ranked games. It’s just one tricks that play victor or lex or another dps/flank instead of filling. This is why I’m stuck in gold V. I try to carry ever game, but it’s never enough. People play ranked to win, casuals to have fun. If you play ranked, u need to learn the meta, and make good picks. Not play just dps and make excuses about why you can’t play anything else. Anyone who does that is really bringing down a team, and they’re usually stubborn as hell.
I'm not really the one to be toxic but I find it really frustrating when playing placement matches because you either play with pros, or beginners, because everyone is unranked. So you get instabans and instalocks and no team coordination and it just sucks. Ya feel me?
It probably has to do with the surplus of players on the server with untested mmr. so it doesn't know where to put them properly yet. Current matchmaking algorithm is pretty good, but it could definitely use an improvement
i was js starting the game and my level for the champ i was using was 11, as for my teammates, one of them were 112 and since i didnt know the basics, i told them i could barely play maeve despite having a 11 on her but although my skye is lower, its someone im more confident with. i ended up getting reported for being a bot because they told me to kill enemy kinessa with maeve but i couldnt even get to her.
This video should be in game somehow and it should be a must part of tutorial. I am lvl 110.playing for an year now. People dont know basics and jump into ranked right after they are eligible. Good job jayflare! God bless u
Recently a new player. I just made it to Gold V and honestly, I wish I knew these tips much earlier on to make life a little bit easier... Very helpful info! :)
this is a good video for new player that wanna try rank out there, im a vet from OB 50 and in this video have all the basic of rank match, good job jay :D
I needed this as I just placed Bronze 1 yesterday and really like using Flanks and Damage for my compositions. Thank you so much for this tip. Now I can play XBOX ranked better!
not sure how u are doing now but, support needs to stay alive and position themselves well so that they do not get killed by flanks. Tanks needs to know when to back off and when to aggro in when u can but do not ever neglect the point chasing kills. flanks and dmg are the hardest personally. u have to "fluent" with their mechanics of the individual champ u're using and most of all, positioning is the key for both flanks and dmgs. read up and watch some videos about positioning, thats the difference between "can play" and "knows how to play".
@@merrickyin3388 This new update I placed Season 2 but I find myself dying more and not maximizing my damage as I should be but I did get higher than before so I'll take this as a small step getting better though I want to stop dying with my main lian lol.
@@deadwalke9588 put it this way. During the contesting phase, when both teams are trying to get the point, as a DMG, I will not cross what I call the "half way mark". I will not leave my tanks alone by overextending just for that 1 kill that I might not even get. I tend to stay behind my tank and assist them to out fire the opponent with my tanks. And at the same time it is Ur job to protect and watch out for Ur support as they are always behind Ur frontline. This is just MY personal guideline. Situation changes all the time in fights. But ultimately what I wanna say is, know Ur role and know Ur priority and STICK TO IT
I honestly believe they should move the level at which you can play ranked from what it is(like level 15 or something I cant remember) to at least level 50 preferably level 75 or 100
If you want to win ranked, Skye first pick is the meta. Also you should throw your ultimate bomb as frequently as you can, don't save it since you'll get it back quickly and you lose potential damage ;)
Really wanna add something about when to chase, and when to regroup. That, and to look for low health enemies. There's an option for "always show health" (or something like that) that is godly for finishing enemies and healing friends. For some reason people don't understand the value of turning a fight into a 5v4. They just shoot into full HP tanks and ignore the low HP healer (or damage) behind 'em.
4 tanks and Grohk strategy can do amazing in the low level casual game (or even in ranked). Just stack on the same point. Inexperienced players usually struggle to counter this strategy, but this can absolutely be countered with a teamwork and all of those mentioned in the vid.
I agree with everything you said except for the fact that tanks should stay on the point Actually after the point battle of you have the point everyone should push except for the support tank are one of the best champions to zone
The items in my opinion need more detail in there for example if you are playing support like seris and they have a flanker who you know is going to be focusing you it might be a good idea to go with haven first ,you make the items look like a 1 type fits all which is false, flankers need caut or haven/blast or illuminate depending on the situation, tanks need haven/blast shield or rejuv depending in enemy team and your support, damage dealers often need wrecker if they have barriers/bulldozer if there is an inara or haven/blast shield depending on the flanker.Otherwise it was a great guide
Around 9:00 , I disagree slightly. Get the Healer to cap the point or push the payload instead of a tank. Healers can still heal from far like damba, jenos or seris(mortal reach).
It's a safety thing. Keep in mind I'm taking to new players. While zoning something could slip past them and if it's the healer who's alone on the point then the healer could get picked off easily and that could turn the whole round around. If a tank is there they'll be fine because they won't be 1v1'd so easily. When I play I personally leave the healer behind because it isn't very likely that me or my teammates will let somebody slip by.
3:30 Been playing for over a year now but damn I wish I remembered this advice. The other day I was in comp and Furia was open for first pick. My team really wanted a Furia and I gave in to picking her when I haven't had nearly enough experience playing her. I offered to swap but was turned down twice and under-performed the entire game, and was flamed from pretty early on :/
I bought Androxus as soon as I got the gold thinking “the cover guy has to be pretty good” lol. I did learn him & he’s now my 2nd best character but at first, he made me not want to buy another character without looking at a guide first. He’s the most not new player friendly thing I’ve ever experienced.
Hello friend, thank you for cool video. QUESTION! How is Pip an off-healer? Jenos has no reactionary heals, but pip can hit through walls, or a whole party if grouped up, for 2800+, and then have an immediate CD reset if several players hit. I am level 20 jenos and 15 pip.. was jenos Main, but very much thinking of switching to Pip main because he seems just so much better at keeping people UP when it MATTERS. Also no mention of Furia, and that is scratch my head!! (Was she release after video?) PEACE BLESSINGS ty!
I have 30 hours in paladins so I’m relatively new. I had this game earlier, where I had just unlocked evie (like lvl 3). I look away for a few seconds just to see that my team had chosen 3 other flanks. It was not until that game that I had experienced true pain.
thanks for the helpful vid . although im watching this after testing all the characters and see which i am good with seri and ash are my best but that minion in the robot is good on death match took me a while to get it. also taht stargering ting you said i wasnt aware of and will start using it
thanks for 8:40 i swear nobody knows that! im always like the only one. vvvc or "chase the enemy" usually helps ppl out the v commands are pretty helpful!
Jay Flare i want ask you something , as healer i find something kinda confuse me in ranked which is what do i do is best ? , for example seris can heal good BUT her damage is just so good and OP , sometimes i see my team mate fight with one of enemy team , so what do i do ? i could spam balls and do massive damage to this guy at risk of my team mate health and since i don't know if my team mate good at dodging bullets or not , OR only play safe and heal and just use my basic attack very little and keep my eyes 24 hours on their health bar , because if i just look at enemy to start do basic attack with her or skills i find one of my team mate died but at the same time i was able to kill enemy player so i don't know which is better for me or what is better choice ? , another thing is about playing as healer , and i stay back to be healing my teammate save i find flanker is 24 hours behind me and kill me , he just appear out of no were , kill me , then go run away while my teammate looking to enemy team , and if i stay near my teammate thats means i am in rest of 4 enemy attack range which they can attack me and kill me , and my teammate just focus on killing the enemy and not protecting me , any tips ? PS: you MUST play for nothing , otherwise i will have to tell my tema mate how to do their thing and tell them to kill themselves for being brain dead cell who never communicate nor look at chat or troll pick for sake of wanting to play this hero , that is the issue in all mobas , even worst i could just AFK so i save time and play with other players who maybe have better chance to win , think about it this way , i recommend you watch this video to get my point its 4 min point about toxicity ruclips.net/video/5UfO7qOHx5M/видео.html
So I am curious about some of my choices, now that you mentioned some things. Would you kindly answer my questions? So, my quick match item choices like Movement Speed on Ashe, Moji, Terminus, Strix etc. aren't gonna work out in ranked? I never really get Chronos on champions, but now that I think about it, should I buy it for every champion? How about bulldozer against Inara then focusing her deployables? How effective is it? How is Jenos a main healer and Pip isn't? Jenos's heal is one person only and isn't a burst AoE like Pip's. Pip also has a card that reduces the potion CD on every ally hit giving even instant reduction on enough people hit. Seriously, I wanna know. Thank you for answering!
If you're picking Nimble first, then you're putting yourself at a disadvantage. It should always be caut/wrecker first then you can get nimble after. Chronos is good on most but not all champions. Viktor and Strix only have one ability that's on a cooldown so Chronos isn't good for champs like them. I don't really think there's a place for Bulldozer in the game. Caut and Wrecker are so much more impactful and you can work around deployables. Jenos can heal up to three people at the same time no matter where they are or what's blocking you from them. Pip needs his team to stack up to heal them all so he's mainly only ever healing one to two people at most with h is potion.
Jay Flare Oh, Jenos can heal more than one at a time? I didn't know that, now I understand. Once again, thank you for answering. I'll put your hints to good use!
Asking for some advice. I have just started Paladins and I have played a few of the characters (Jenos, Grover, Sprocket, Viktor,). But I am op at playing as Viktor (Cardio with grenade boost cards), and not just KD ratio, I do know that taking the point is more important. I even saved up my gold and bought my first skin for Viktor because I was able to play him so well. But my best friend is a bit of a whiner when he doesn't get his way in games. And he HATES it when I play Viktor, (his main is Androxus by the way but he does play Grover sometimes). He always moans when I play Viktor saying that I'm a noob and that I need to experiment more with other characters. I tell him that I have and why should I play characters I'm bad at or don't have a feel for? He even picks Viktor at the start of matches so I cant then 5 seconds till match he will switch to Androxus. He even quits and will turn off his mic or leave the party if I play Viktor anymore. I now have over 30 hours in Paldins and still find that Viktor is currently the best character for me (still saving up gold for more characters though, thinking of trying out Koga). What should I do?
Do you think they're ever actually gonna add a proper MMR/ranking system so that on casual I don't literally gouge my eyes out in anger because I get matched against another streamer? Or add a ranking system in comp too so I don't get placed in gold 3 when I was low diamond last season I won't get gold 3 in season 2 even though I won 7/10 placements?
Jay. Do you think chronos is a good choice for zhin. He has relatively small cooldowns and decreasing them could mean that he would be a killing machine that couldn’t die
I do want to play rank but it takes a while to be in a match in my ps4 thanks for the advise i will try out new hero's I'm good with a zhin and now I'm practicing with androxus he's an skills are pretty easy to understand but its hard to pull off like using 3 nether step to get above the enemy then use ultimate to rain down damage to the enemy
Healing is east especially with good loadout... I'm a noob but the difference between me and another noob is I don't try and get high damage..their a healer that's their job!
I play the game for two weeks and after the first 10 ranked matches I get Gold III. Also about the 4 characters that a noob should avoid: my main is bk, lvl 18 and I get play of the game about 2/3 matches I play with him, so I'd say it's not that hard to play him. My favorite thing to do is poppy bomb full hp tanks off the map and take care of the low hp champions by simply grumpy bombing (I use the grumpy bomb talent so it's not that hard to catch people) them and then just simply finishing them with sticky bombs.
I prefer Grohk as a utility healer who can be built around enemy champs with lots of CC, Bomb King, Pip, and Jenos in particular. The CC immunity legendary is just so insanely clutch. It NULLIFIES a Seris, Torvald, Pip, Strix, Zhin, Talus, Inara, and Khan ultimate, in addition to countering the most deadly ability in the game, that fucking hook. I personally prefer using double tanks over double heals, but in the right composition and the right maps, Grohk absolutely shines.
I would like to give one more tip unless you are in master or grandmaster NEVER LET YOUR TEAMMATES GET BK. I NEVER got a good bk in ranked maybe once or twice out of atleast 20 xD. I was diamond 4 btw, but I even got a master bk that got 64K damage.

Didn't work, judging from your videos. (OW player here too)

Worked for me. No more overwatch
Pick Tank or Healer. And pray to God that your unranked teammates fill in their usual noob damage role well.
Always give Seris or Tank to the Unrankeds
tank not seris
Seris is ez with right loadouts
It's dangerous to give them any character in my experience. I normally try to get them on the easiest tank I can because if I put them on healer they won't heal me :/
Mate, I'm a unranked myself. I did 95k healing 9 minutes. Healing is fairly easy with Jenos and Seris than Damba. So, give them healer

“Don’t throwing even if you have no tanks no healers. Winning with the worst team comp is so satisfied” is my policy.

What is throw?

I have 30 hours in paladins so I’m relatively new. I had this game earlier, where I had just unlocked evie (like lvl 3). I look away for a few seconds just to see that my team had chosen 3 other flanks. It was not until that game that I had experienced true pain.
thanks for the helpful vid . although im watching this after testing all the characters and see which i am good with seri and ash are my best but that minion in the robot is good on death match took me a while to get it. also taht stargering ting you said i wasnt aware of and will start using it
Nice Moji in the beginning
thanks for 8:40 i swear nobody knows that!

When someone enters ranked for first time
Jay Flare i want ask you something , as healer i find something kinda confuse me in ranked which is what do i do is best ? , for example seris can heal good BUT her damage is just so good and OP , sometimes i see my team mate fight with one of enemy team , so what do i do ? i could spam balls and do massive damage to this guy at risk of my team mate health and since i don't know if my team mate good at dodging bullets or not , OR only play safe and heal and just use my basic attack very little and keep my eyes 24 hours on their health bar , because if i just look at enemy to start do basic attack with her or skills i find one of my team mate died but at the same time i was able to kill enemy player so i don't know which is better for me or what is better choice ? , another thing is about playing as healer , and i stay back to be healing my teammate save i find flanker is 24 hours behind me and kill me , he just appear out of no were , kill me , then go run away while my teammate looking to enemy team , and if i stay near my teammate thats means i am in rest of 4 enemy attack range which they can attack me and kill me , and my teammate just focus on killing the enemy and not protecting me , any tips ?
PS: you MUST play for nothing , otherwise i will have to tell my tema mate how to do their thing and tell them to kill themselves for being brain dead cell who never communicate nor look at chat or troll pick for sake of wanting to play this hero , that is the issue in all mobas , even worst i could just AFK so i save time and play with other players who maybe have better chance to win , think about it this way , i recommend you watch this video to get my point its 4 min point about toxicity ruclips.net/video/5UfO7qOHx5M/видео.html
This video *_HELPED_* me alot *_THANKS_*
Yousef Shalaby I think Chronos is good on him, just not as a first buy.
thanks for replying. i agree
You could do a video like this for diamond-master grinding (maybe in a few days, as the season goes)
helloooo just curious, what do you run as a loadout onm your lian? i saw you used her a lot lmao
Great guide man
Healing is east especially with good loadout... I'm a noob but the difference between me and another noob is I don't try and get high damage..their a healer that's their job!
Great video! Thanks!
I play on a potato and somehow managed to get to Gold 3 or 2 dropped down to Gold 5 and yeah
How do I know the rank of a player? I’m bronze and suspect I’m facing higher tier players but how can I check?
The problem is I'm solo , I've picked tank and I say 2 tanks but then the last person picks another flank
Does caut work at the start? Because when not everyone bans healers
How do i play ranked? Like how do i get into a ranked match?
Damn, that seris save at 8:04
You deserve 100k subs Thanks for tips
thanks for this video I was very confuse playing
I also suggest avoiding Drogoz too. I'm still trying to learn how to play him and I am level 76. Also, I would suggest that Ying isn't a main healer
Jebron Lames With Ying's new buffs she is definitely a main healer.
Ying is so bad always
Like still idk. Maybe some good yings although never seen anyome get healed even by people who have lvl 80 yings it's always a bad healing situation
Is it good to run a main healer and an off healer? Like Jenos with either Grohk or Grover?
I prefer Grohk as a utility healer who can be built around enemy champs with lots of CC, Bomb King, Pip, and Jenos in particular. The CC immunity legendary is just so insanely clutch. It NULLIFIES a Seris, Torvald, Pip, Strix, Zhin, Talus, Inara, and Khan ultimate, in addition to countering the most deadly ability in the game, that fucking hook.
I personally prefer using double tanks over double heals, but in the right composition and the right maps, Grohk absolutely shines.
Did you win the last match in the video ?
Idk if I'd call bomb king top 4 hard to play considering ROYAL SUBJECTS is still a thing. I'd put one of the snipers before him
Day has been made.
I just started playing Paladins a week ago and grinded to play ranked. Just placed Plat 1, is that good in this game or is that average?
Great advice i just got it on my switchandi love it i main Sirus btw
Why sometimes you loose about 13 points but you only get about 6 when you win?
I would like to give one more tip unless you are in master or grandmaster NEVER LET YOUR TEAMMATES GET BK. I NEVER got a good bk in ranked maybe once or twice out of atleast 20 xD. I was diamond 4 btw, but I even got a master bk that got 64K damage.
when I say the level 87 lian i fell in love with you
No master riding first pick on inara?
yeah its cool but when ur team are toxic or lag?
How can you get high level cards by loadout ?
