This is a great demo of these pickups. There really wasn’t much of anything like this available before I got my ‘21 335, and this would have been a comfort. Granted, once I dove into the sounds in the guitar, I absolutely fell in love with the sound and abilities of these things. Dialing in the heights will be imperative, and once I got them set to my ears I can’t see ever changing these. Great work!

Very nice-both the playing and the pickup tone!

I love my 2023 Gibson ES-345 60s Cherry with the same PUPs. They are very articulate and clean with bell-like
tones. If you push them with overdrive you can dial back to clean up nicely or go all the way and have that
sweet natural feedback. Similar to unpotted PUPS and I'm a fan of those too.

@@joeytheguitarplayer When it comes to PUS it's so personal. What I don't get is that some people replace them right away without really going through them. I don't know what they are doing at Gibson but they have that vintage sound. That's why I wanted that ES-335 or 345 in the first place.
My other Gibson R8 Les Paul has the unpotted Custombuckers in it wouldn't change them if I had a gun to my head. I like that fact that my ES-345 sounds like it should and My Custom R8 does it's thing too. I thought I would have to spend another 3k or so to get a custom shop but it's made perfect left alone and played every day.

Informative Cal T-Type review! These remind me more of PRS pickups than Gibson pickups, being these are a little brighter and more articulate than I'd expect. That could be good or bad depending on a player's style. From you it sounds great cause it suits your playing. I was a PRS only player for decades and only recently came back to Gibson to recapture that certain tone I was familiar with. So these would have surprised me if I bought a current 335 expecting something else.

thanks! plus, interesting take Jimmy.. yea i def like the slight extra snap on these over say a 57 classic..
the PRS comment is intriguing.. as of yet ive still not quite gotten on with their prominent brightness.. fancy guitars tho ;)

I own a recent Gibson 335 who came with this pickups. My Guitar is kinda bright on its own. And while i absolutly loved the Bridge Pickup, the Neck Pickup was never to my liking. So i switched the T-Types for Seth Lovers, didnt even cost me anything after i sold the T-Types. And this swap was 100% worth it. It now sounds like a 335 should Sound for me.
I can even hear it in this Demo, IMO the T-Types are best suited for Overdriven Tones, not for cleans.

T types in this 335 are rock n roll pickups. I have a 2020 335 and swapped t types for seth lovers because i play clean jazz and blues; best decision ever tone wise.

Hmm must be you , on many forums everyone states the t top is better than most all SD pickups. And the 57 classics beat everything SD has ever put out .Each to there own, just saying most 90% say the Gibson's are way better ..that way folks reading comments won't waste there $$

    • @Separade

@@hopebrowning6300 ye I better don’t start on how much time I spend on guitar forums and that’s a claim I’ve NEVER heared. So I don’t know what to say. I don’t have that guitar anymore but still t type are pretty ice picky pickups in my opinion, and Seth lovers are not. So the difference was not even subtle.
I guess as you wrote “t tops” you get confused with the original old t tops the “t types” tried to replicate. Old t tops are a whole different story….

Hi there, enjoyed the video. Do you know how these compare to the MHS humbuckers in thr Memphis guitars or the 57 classics Gibson used to put in 335s?

    • @hopebrowning6300

They made like old t tops .they can't sound like the vintage ones cuz old ones used different wire, had looser wind tension, more of a scatter wind by the machine they used they now no longer have , different alloy pole screws, polls, keepers, different short A5 magnet, some later t tops , 78-79 uses thinner week short magnets , like week a2, or A3 .others had short full strength a5.New ones sounds good, and are made like the old ones but sound nothing like the old ones. Another way for Gibson to make more $$$ like paf, how many times has they claims each new model is a clone of a old paf? Few years later a new model, its 100% paf, repeat a few times then once again , a new model came out with the claim 100% paf, for a grand a set ..lol.the $$ they charge for guitars even the basic 1,200 mid models should be perfect ! The higher ones 2-2,500 should be an exact copy of the vintage ones , custom shops ones , 5 to over 10 grand , should be out of this world better then even the old 50's guitars .but, no! Junk last 20 years .around 2000 was the last years they made good wood, good tone , good low action without fret buzz , good alloy steal etc guitars

Well, at least this is the first good video Gibson has put out about their T top guitar pick ups that are currently available from most major retailers. We now at least see what the truth is now it’s time to tell you about solo Dallas, or rewind or a variety of other companies that can use the patent sticker and have Gibsons permission. Those are probably the best places to get a teatime because they sound like shit Rich pick up not too bad, but not pick up trash. That’s probably why Jimmy page didn’t use it. Wayback win neck pick ups were never that great for these guitars, unless you’re using high gain, of course, otherwise they’re really not that wonderful. This was honestly a cost-effective move for Gibson I mean when they came out with the T tops they had gotten a great deal on the pool pieces and they didn’t have to put maple spacers on them anymore and if I’m not mistaken, these don’t even have your chair at bobbins, so thank you Gibson for building another pick up, trying to make it famous, because somebody else had to use it like Jimmy page which is probably the main person with exception of AC/DC And they were certainly forced to it as well and 71 but otherwise I can see no real good outcome from these pick ups unless you just personally choose them. Good luck and enjoy. I’m part of these things squeal like a bitch but good plan man it’s not you. It’s just the pick ups. I’m talking about you’re doing a great job. 5:21

What’s the point of doing a demo using a rig etc…?? Pointless..play it all through a standard amp with no effects and everything at mid position through a totally clean sound…you are altering the tone by your own preferences..😼
However your playing is excellent 👌
