I put Fender Pure Vintage '59s into my 2000 mim Strat along with new pots and switches as well as a big block American Bridge. Wired it with treble bleed and wired the 5-way so it's now a 7-way. Such a beautiful sounding Strat and the playabilty is that of an American Standard. I 0nly play it through an original early '68 Fender Princeton Silverface Blackline Reverb. Beautiful combo.
The clean tones at the beginning informed me the most, but then I love clean tones the best. It amazed me how much each pickup position sounded so different, more than I usually hear in strats, thanks to Joey's fine playing and the FPV59 pickups!!!
Thanks for that, a great representation! and for leaving the subtext there too (nothing more annoying than to have it blink out). And for the Fuzz bit ...i use fuzz mostly.
thanks Mitchell! happy to help man
Great demo, this is what i wanted to hear. The pickups sound great also. Good job Fender.
Excellent demo. I heard the differences between each pickup very clearly. Great playing!
thank you!
A set of these came in my trouble maker Strat, I like them.
Awesome, thorough demo of these 59s, they sound vintage sweet. I'm assuming KOT is the King of Tone pedal?
thanks Jimmy! yes to the KOT (the Line 6 Helix version of course)
playing through my standard Helix "pedalboard layout" into Guitar Rig 5
Amazing, i think these will be my next set of pickups. Do you have any experiences with the '65 set?
hey Nathan, thanks.. not the 65s.. the CS Fat 60s tho are really great I think
@@joeytheguitarplayer Thank you. :)
Middle pickup Is often overlooked. Great on it's own.
👏👏👏👍👍👍
I really enjoy your videos as I am considering the fat 60s and the pure vintage 59 pickups. Do you have a video comparing the two? Which would you prefer? Me, I play mostly clean but I do use overdrive and distortion on occasion. I'm looking to put a set in a 60s strat but I can't decide which set would be most versatile.
thank you Melody! right now i don't have a comparison vid for those.. but i can say that for me, i actually liked the vintage 59s a bit better.. i put them in my strat that used to have fat 60s..
59s had just a little more snap and top end that i was looking for.. either way you cant go wrong tho.. both great sets
Sounds amazing!
Through which amp are you playing? And with what mic did you capture the sound?
thanks! i play through Guitar Rig.. the virtual amp sim.. Tweed Model set pretty clean
@@joeytheguitarplayer thanks !
Awesome. What Amp used?
I starting to think Fuzz was made specifically for the Strat.
haha well said.. (with one small addition: tele on the bridge pickup)
@@joeytheguitarplayer SG too, if it's for heavier tones. SG with a Green Russian is an ear caving sound.
Sounds harmonically rich. Which amp sim are you using in GuitarRig?
for this i used the Tweed sim
gosh amazing sound,what amp
Guitar Rig 5 - Tweed Amp Sim
Change the cap to a little less bright and you will have something.
wound up doing just that actually ;) was just a hair crazy on the very top end..
I’ve had these pickups in my guitar for ~1.5 years. I don’t recommend them though I love them. They mail a specific sound really well, but just lack in so many areas. As my playing has begun to diversify I just have begun to feel like as far as tone is concerned they are a limiting factor. I’m thinking I’m going to switch to radio shop vintage 53’s.
I’d also like to point out, when he plays the lead lines with the ts808, to my ear, they’re just missing something. Honestly that sums up how I feel about them. Though I love them, they just miss something.
All we're hearing is the Echo you're adding in. Try Clean.
