I know, right? I just randomly got recommended for a stack of these videos when I was watching some guy defend Israel against Islam extremists, and I was like "Why am I randomly seeing a bunch of these videos? I DID watch some videos of him a few months ago because I knew he was a bad person and I forgot what exactly he did, but why all these videos right here and right now? Yandere Dev being a bad person is old news." Then I saw that the videos were only made a few days ago so I was like "Huh? People are JUST NOW exposing him? What???? His controversy died YEARS AGO. Or did he do something new that was bad?", and yep, he did something recently messed up. I swear I'm convinced Yandere Dev is doing these things for attention, and it's obviously working. Obviously, the victim did not deserve what happened to her, but Yandere Dev will take any attention, whether that attention is positive or negative. He knew his channel was slowly dying so he chose to do something controversial and harmful to arouse attention and rile people up, and it is working for him. As someone who has a narcissistic mother, I am convinced that Yandere Dev is a HUGE narcissist, even WAY more narcissistic than my narcissistic mother.
That's the crazy part. I run a comedy panel about the yandere archetype, and I'm in the broader gaming/cosplay/anime communities, so I've known about this for years. I publicly joke about him being awful in our panel, and the audience cracks up. I've run this panel since, oh, 2017 (after YanDev was already well-known on RUclips), and I've progressively made my section on him written more negatively every year. It gets more laughs... every year. It was hardly a secret if you were in those sub-communities.
But so many people weren't in the community and just had no idea. They just thought he was a guy who took too long developing a game. And it's like... YanDev used to write slavery fanfics and is notorious for the cum chalice. Who would want to know?

YandereDev stole codes, copyrighted fan games, hated on everybody that tried to help him on the game, bought a sex doll with the appearance of a character of his game. He did so many questionable things, not even mentioning everything, so this type of creepy shit was just expected from this dude.

There's certainly crossover between the two at times, but just assuming a person who engages in a terrible activity is mentally ill is just watering down the concept of right and wrong. I think people who don't engage in this kind of garbage are willing to accept that idea sometimes because it creates a perceived degree of separation between them and the person who engaged in the disgusting act.

1) He had the opportunity to meet with the creator of Skull Girls to get some criticism on his fighting game. Upon receiving this criticism, he had a breakdown, insulted THE CREATOR OF SKULL GIRLS, and then victimized himself on another online forum. The craziest part? This is the reason he had the idea for Yandere Simulator, the game was literally made out of spite.
2) He was homeschooled, _very_ homeschooled. As in he never went outside in his childhood outside of turning in his school assignments. Which honestly I can sympathize with, considering his parents probably just let him become a shut-in and let his only interactions with women be through anime.
3) Speaking of anime, crazy enough there was foreshadowing for all this. He listed his type in a woman to be “childish, innocent, cute, etc.” and states these are the traits he gets from anime girls.
4) When being confronted about the panty shots in the game by someone, he proposed the idea that minors should take a test to prove sexual maturity and, I’m not even joking, obtain a _sex license._ He was fully on board with it.
5) He said “Mother Nature sexualizes women.”
6) He bought a subreddit for about $3.5K

But depression can certainly decrease one's sense of empathy (which, aside from the depression itself, is also a consequence of how badly depressed people are treated by others. If no one ever shows empathy for you, you will eventually stop feeling empathy for others). So someone who is already a pedophile, but under normal circumstances wouldn't actually want to hurt a child, could become depressed to the point where they stop caring and decide to act upon their paraphilia anyway.
Not saying depression is an excuse to harm others (hell, not even antisocial personality disorder would be an excuse for that, and lack of empathy is its main symptom, lmao), nor agreeing with anyone who suggests depression could be an excuse for CSA, but just adding nuance to your comment

I dug a little deeper in this topic and it’s actually horrible.
Here’s what I found:
Yandere dev not only had one victim, but several. The number isn’t known for sure but it was quite a lot.
The sad thing is that the victim that reached out and screenshotted what you see in the video actually tried to undo reaching out because Yandere dev successfully manipulated them into feeling guilty about exposing him.
But even though the victim wanted the evidence to be erased, there were a lot more victims who wanted to get yanderer dev exposed for who he truly is. So the evidence got posted by the content creator she reached out to.
Yanderer devs apology is so microscopic compared to how he’s affected all these young kids lives.

I've always thought he was creepy, because of the whole "sexualized minors in the game who are all simping for this one ordinary dude that is basically just his self insert" thing. To be honest, I'm totally against the idea of letting fictional fantasies and tastes dictate someone's real morality, but there's nuance to this where the person's real behavior can be very telling of how they view the world.
YandereDev isn't just obsessed with the things he puts in his awful garbage fire of a game project, he's always seeing the entire world, fictional or not, with horny glasses that turn everything into a sex object and has no regard for limits or how uncomfortable this might make everyone around him. That, right there, makes him an absolute weirdo, and in turn makes his whole taste in fiction have a very different connotation.
I hope the victim heals and gets protection, while Yanderegroomer gets even more bad stuff coming his way.

It's the fact the panty shots aren't even a random side note, they're one of the main forms of currency in the game. If you wanna play the way Alex intended you NEED to do them

Tbf, that feature was from when the game was a 4chan ironic game about anime culture and yanderes. The sorta of edgy humor, hentai-esque culture, etc was on brand for that kind of game. Not that it is something good, but it had a cultural context (it's sorta how some japanese games and western games inspired by them have panty camera angles, and sometimes the NPCs will address it). The problem is twofold: first, he tried to bring the game out of that context into a much bigger scope, so now he had to deal with scrutiny from a general audience; and secondly, his own behavior and some of his ideas were unsettling even for that original concept.
"Hate and Shame" makes it so apparent. YandereDev has a critical victim mentality where everyone is to blame for his situation except himself. Every critic is a malicious troll. And he selectively chooses to broadcast this to children, because they don't have the experience to pick apart his manipulation tactics and shouldn't have to know how. It's sickening. He disgusts me.

He’s stuck in the loop. I still kinda feel bad for him, people clowned on him for the game he was making taking a long time, and not being coded well. But he was always up front that he wanted to crowdfund a team of coders, and that he really was a novice programmer. Dude put out a ton of really well edited videos because he had to drum up hype for the kickstarter. Anyone trying to run a project like that and getting a ton of criticism constantly is gonna go nuts, so I always kinda tried to chill on the criticism

I think it's possible, and whenever somebody engages in touchy subject matter like this "yandere" to make any sort of commentary, or just because it's interesting or poses questions, they don't inherently have to be supporting it, but discussion or depiction gets closed off when turbo losers like this set all the genuine creators with genuine intent back, getting them lumped in with the smut of a manipulative predator.

It's simply that when he first pitched the idea of the game on 4chan he couldn't name himself with an alias like that since 4chan has a strong anonymity culture. In such cases, a person refers to themselves by the topic, in this case, it's the yandere game, he is the dev, so... Yandere Dev. Of course he did embrace the name afterwards, but it's a bit more nuanced

Another year, another Yandev pedo scandal. The only thing that surprises me is that some people are STILL surprised. I mean... This is they guy who wrote the sex license post. On his main update page. If THAT'S what he talks about openly, I don't even want to imagine what he talks about privately.
There is one thing that's extra terrible about this though. Judging from the fact that he's been caught doing this over and over again and he STILL does it, means that it's unlikely that he feels any remorse or feels what he's doing is wrong in any way. I followed the development for years, was always excited when a new video came out. But eventually that excitement wore out, was replaced by confusion and skepticism. Eventually I needed to have it spelled out to me in those long videos that came out about him a few year’s ago. It hurt, the whole sunk cost fallacy thing. I’d been so invested for years. I’m glad I got out.
Yanderedev was like the first person I witnessed fall hard on the internet growing up. He would always talk about these crazy features and updates but he always ended up just complaining about how hard it is. Believe it or not, I had an interaction with him once through email when I was maybe like 12 or 13 years old. (I’m 21 now). I emailed him about how If he’s worried about the development of the game then he should focus on that instead of the frequent joke projects he would make, which in hindsight didn’t make any sense coming from my 12 year old brain, but the way he replied was shocking. He cussed me out good, and called me the R word and a bunch of other harsh words, but man the way he replied showed me what kind of person he was. I had no idea about the insane foreshadowing I witnessed.

I followed through the development of this game through KubzScouts and I subbed to him in middle school. I recently graduated from college and this game is FAR from finished. Yandere dev promised 6+ rivals and the game has what, 2? He’s also usually complain about how hard it was but would dislike it when others would help him in the development process. He’s making bank off of his patrons for years and the progress to thef full game is barely even half

They’re clearly not right in the head. I remember this one guy named Ihab (pronounced E-hab, he was an Arab and Egyptian mix) who would constantly use his PTSD as an excuse to pull crazy antics. This guy was a heroin addict and he had anger problems on top of having PTSD. Equally so most times the police would just let him go and not do anything anytime he pulled the “I have PTSD” card. Now granted he wasn’t pulling this type of stuff but he did have violent tendencies and I think eventually he got put in jail. The guy also owned a bunch of guns whenever he was a convicted felon on top of everything else, total nut job in an old neighborhood I used to live in.
My sister was obsessed with this topic for a long time. I think, like many, it started off as genuine curiosity for the project, before it quickly degraded into ironic fascination with the bafflingly terrible development period, as well as just everything that has come out of this man. This guy just really never deserved a platform in the first place, and the fact that he ever had an opportunity to make a wage off these "fans" of his (God bless their beautiful souls) is one of the more unfortunate tragedies of the internet.

Alot of fans sunk money into the game's development which is why I think they're still clinging onto the hope the full game will be released. Its crazy to me that the development of this game has been going on around the same amount of time Elder Scrolls 6 has been in development 😭
