Exactly what I was thinking!! Very good review, never saw you on youtube before. I just subscribed, hope to see other quality videos like this one in the future!
Gonna be grabbing this later. Thanks for the help! EDIT (3 Years Later) : Watching again because I'm deciding to mod my carbon. Thanks for making this easy to understand as I'm still a complete novice and really need something like this for help.
Super straight forward and highly informative. Really thankful you even test fitted a bunch of different levers. Once I get my Cut White I'm gonna get a JLF for it when I get the chance.
Purchased the Carbon, and at the recommendation of the internet, I purchased Sanwa buttons and JLF joystick. I purchased a Sanwa octogate and a premium ball top for a few dollars extra. The total cost, including tax and shipping, was a modest $125.44 There aren't too many sticks that offer a premium Sanwa feel and quality for that kind of dosh. The comfortable size and PC-compatiblity were most important to me, so the price wasn't terrible even for an entry-level casual stick. Big thumbs up Jasen, I enjoyed the video. Once I'm ready for an ultra premium stick, the Panzer is what I am heavily considering.
Sanwa buttons are an awesome upgrade for this, I've got the same one. Huge fan of this stick, since I bought the original V1 with all 3 gates, and still got the V2. Anyone know if a low collar taeyoung would fit in here?
A comment for anyone wandering here curious about this stick. It's still awesome, I managed to get it for 40 bucks (from their own website no less) it shipped fast, and it's super good for the price. Any additional parts can be bought later should you need, but for my first stick I couldn't ask for any better!
@@daepicpotato1506 I've heard good things about the Drone, but the Carbon is about half the price (doesn't work on current gen consoles tho) and feels really, really nice
AlpacasMafia I just picked up the carbon yesterday. U have to change the settings on steam but other then that I like the stick. The table clamps work great and I believe it has a wider footprint then the drone. I’ve been playing sfv on pc. Honestly I swear I’ve seen your name on cfn
The clamp idea is just awesome (should be all metal and sturdier though)! I wish this was a "clamp-standard", that most arcade sticks supported (a la VESA mounts for TVs).
I got mine for $50 on Amazon and modded it a ton aftermarket, ended up sinking abt a total of $140 into a stick with all premium parts and custom artwork :) can’t recommend highly enough for a first stick!
UMVC3 just hit on pc and i missed out on the original release due to the fact that i stopped buying consoles back in 07 but i was looking at this stick on amazon this review has given me the answer i needed, gonna pull the trigger on that buy great vid and thx for the help
Great video, finally a good quality review for this product! I have been interested in buying a FightStick for my pc but I wasn't sure which one to buy. Thanks! Subscribed and liked!
Solid breakdown; I have one of these myself but I've got a question that I haven't really found any info on. How do the stock buttons compare to Sanwas? I've upgraded, but I chose Seimitsu because the idea of the lower sensitivity was a little more appealing. As it's the first stick I've ever used, I don't have any experience with Sanwas, so I was wondering what the difference was in terms of feel/actuation force.
Thanks man after your in depth review I've ordered this baby... Managed to get it for around 54 dollars and for me as a player from South Africa getting a stick this cheap is impossible.... Hopefully I can mod it to work on ps4 eventually but for now pc is all I need
Hi. How can I utilize the test poits? For example i want to do padhack with Hori Octa, and I wan't to connect menu test point of qanba pcb to Home of Hori Octa PCB. How should the connection suppised to be? Please help. Thank you
hey man thanks for this review. convinced me to pick this one up over some $200 hori stick that i don't really want to spend on. recycled some working parts from my old madcatz TE and now it's working great!
This is one of best fightsticks from Qanba. I have them all except the Qanba Dragon. The drone for me is just an upgraded version of the Qanba N1 they are too light to my liking. My favorite Qanba joysticks are 1.Qanba Q4 RAF 2.Qanba Obsidian 3.Qanba Q1
Nice breakdown, very much appreciated. I own one now and plan on modding it. I just have a few questions: If you remember, what mounting plate did the that Seimitsu stick have on it? There a bunch like SS, P=40, etc. If you're familiar with Seimitsu sticks in general: For a shoot'em up player, if you had a choice between an LS-62-01 or an LS-56-01 with an octogate, which would you lean more towards? I'm leaning towards the LS-62-01 because of the shorter shaft (which might make the throw shorter too) but I just can't decide.
Thanks for doing a breakdown on this one. It may be my next modded stick with a Brook converter. Either this, or opting for a Mayflash F500 to mod instead.
Description shows that it can be used for 3 PS4 games ..MK , Tekken 7 and SFV by connecting original controller to the stick ...?? Does it work ..?? I need this for Tekken 7.
Good news on Linux support. Suspected it worked fine :) As for the lever, its not an "OMG this is way different" but you can definitely tell it isn't a JLF.
Not really, what's happening is the lever is springing back making contact with the microswitches. You need to improve the lever, I recommend a Sanwa JLF from www.ArcadeShock.com.
ok. will it be compatible though? like If I buy this: www.amazon.com/Sanwa-JLF-TP-8YT-SK-Adjustable-Tournament-Compatible/dp/B0027Z7L5I It will work with the carbon?
Is there anyway to get the qanba carbon to work on ps4 without a converter? I've heard converters add a considerable amount of lag. pretty upset to find out it only works with some ps4 games.
hi.. thanks for the video.. jz wondering.. when i openned the bottom.. i saw the microswitch plates are bend... when you switch into normal sanwa button.. do u need to bend the plate to make it fit with the height of the stick?? thanksss
I just got my carbon today as a backup for my hori real arcade pro n (I like to have a backup for tournament play just in case and the qanba drone I had gave out) and I can't get the base to separate from the clamps, no matter what way I pull or pry or at what angle or how much force I use (I'm at the point where I feel if I use any more I'll break it) they will not come off. Anyone have any tips or tricks or suggestions for getting them off? Thanks in advance.
I just bought this, and I read in the description that you get 3 gates with this, a square one that is installed and a circle and octa as well. So this doesn't make sense if I have to void the warranty to swap em, am I missing something?
I know this video is over three years old, but you can install full size Seimitsu levers such as the LS-32 and LS-40 without the mounting plates. Remove the top panel of the Carbon, unscrew the mounting plate from the Seimitsu lever, and screw in directly from the top of the panel.
So what exactly does it mean that the Carbon is compatible with PS3 vs the drone which is a Sony licensed product? Why isn't the Carbon licensed and if I get one, does that mean I can't use it at tournaments or something?
PS3 works with a lot of generic controllers so licencing from Sony isn't required. This is a "PC" stick so its able to be cheaper because there isn't a licensing fee associated with it.
There are chinese pcb boards that play windows, xinput, and ps2 with wiring that cost a little bit of nothing on aliexpress that u can easily put in there
The bolt pattern is different, its not deep enough, and the top mounted gate won't fit through the hole that standard lever comes up through. So, no not easily.
Justanalt is right, Sanwa 30mm and Hori 30mm buttons will all work. This stick is easy to mod basic parts into. Advanced mods are a bit trickier (pad hack addons, etc) and require more creativity.
I think you would be hardpressed to get a Korean Lever into it as the mounting pattern is very different and requires a very deep case (min 1.837") to accommodate it.
just watching your review and realise youre going into quite alot of detail bro. really appreciate the time and effort you put into it
Exactly what I was thinking!! Very good review, never saw you on youtube before. I just subscribed, hope to see other quality videos like this one in the future!
This is one of the best fightstick modding commentary I’ve seen
Thanks for breaking it down. Not many videos of the Carbon are out there, so this was nice.
Gonna be grabbing this later. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the review! not a lot of reviews online so this was very nice. picked mine up for Tekken 7 on PC
Just got mine on backorder from eightarc! How is the stick?
BigWave is it too small or a good size compared to others?
It works on PS4 Tekken 7 as well ..??

is qanba carbon better than drone? im probably not gonna mod the stick after i buy it

Da Epic Potato I like the carbon a lot. I think the bigger footprint helps a lot

Thats all i need. Was unable to remove top ball😆.
Not to mention, explained for an upgrade 😱✌️...great video

a superb review. very detailed, precise and on point.
Thanks for the vid! I want to upgrade to a sanwa JLF stick, already got the buttons in. I am also thinking about getting the qanba drone.
Great video, finally a good quality review for this product! I have been interested in buying a FightStick for my pc but I wasn't sure which one to buy. Thanks! Subscribed and liked!
Are there any problems with replacing the ball top with a sanwa ball top or bat top?
Yo nice framemiester and PVM. Mad respect
Great video. Do you think this fightstick is still worth it in 2020? Pc sfv

Amazing breakdown!

Is the stick 8 way directional or 4 way?
Like can the stick go in diagonal directions or can it only go up, down, left, and right?
Would you suggest this or the drone?

insanely good review
Best video of qanba Carbon!!! Unfortunately, I guess I can’t put my ps360+ on stick (don’t fit).
could I somehow connect the menu, select, turbo and mode buttons to another PCB? Like the Brook universal board?
Thanks for this video! Now I can get my mind off things and get this one!
Description shows that it can be used for 3 PS4 games ..MK , Tekken 7 and SFV by connecting original controller to the stick ...??
Does it work ..??
I need this for Tekken 7.
I believe that Tekken 7 has legacy compatibility so maybe this could work on it?
Do you think this will support a Crown 307 stick? Looking to have that middle ground for both 2d and 3d movement games.
Is the start button replacable with sanwa 24mm button?
Should be fine.
Great stick! This arcade controller works well in Linux with RetroArch. How would you rate the stock lever vs a Sanwa JLF?
Good news on Linux support. Suspected it worked fine :) As for the lever, its not an "OMG this is way different" but you can definitely tell it isn't a JLF.
Can the Qanba Carbon go in diagonal directions?
is there a way to lower the sensitivity on it? its reading slight inputs that the stick makes when resetting to neutral
Also forgot to ask, is the sanwa JLF the best plunger i can buy for it?
would a Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Gate fit?
6:16 it fits, however, there is plastic blocking the Octagonal Restrictor Gate from locking into place.
Do you hold the stick weird? I have this thing and I'm not sure how you're hitting start! Your hands must be huge lol
I wonder if it works with any PS3/PS4 Brook converter?
I assume everything is the same for the Q1?
I wanna put a Brook Universal in there and don't care about touchpad functionality. Maybe a guide?
Is there anyway to get the qanba carbon to work on ps4 without a converter? I've heard converters add a considerable amount of lag. pretty upset to find out it only works with some ps4 games.
Lucart - it's a PS3/PC stick. Advertised as such. Brook converters don't add enough lag to not use them.
thanks, I'll be getting the ps3 to ps4 brook converter. In hindsight I should've gotten the drone but too late now.
hi.. thanks for the video.. jz wondering.. when i openned the bottom.. i saw the microswitch plates are bend... when you switch into normal sanwa button.. do u need to bend the plate to make it fit with the height of the stick?? thanksss
I'd assume so, yes.
Jasen Hicks Thanks for the reply.. i broke soo many microswitch plate bfore.. it break easily T____T so quite afraid to mod the buttons on carbon
Mr Jasen, just a quick question. Drone or Carbon?
I just got my carbon today as a backup for my hori real arcade pro n (I like to have a backup for tournament play just in case and the qanba drone I had gave out) and I can't get the base to separate from the clamps, no matter what way I pull or pry or at what angle or how much force I use (I'm at the point where I feel if I use any more I'll break it) they will not come off. Anyone have any tips or tricks or suggestions for getting them off? Thanks in advance.
Can I put a Korean lever on it?
would like to see one of these for the obsidian
I saw on another review that it comes with a hexagon and circle restrictors in the box, is this true? Or does it only come with the square restrictor?
Lag - mine came with a square. I think other swap out a JLF to get a better experience over the stock qanba lever. This would allow the octogate.
That's what I might do. How is the build quality on this thing? Does it feel cheap and plasticy? Or like it'll last?
Lag - it’s cheap and plastic. For the price, it’s about what you can expect.
I just bought this, and I read in the description that you get 3 gates with this, a square one that is installed and a circle and octa as well. So this doesn't make sense if I have to void the warranty to swap em, am I missing something?
The carbon comes with none the q1 does i believe.
can u mod it with korean levers?
I know this video is over three years old, but you can install full size Seimitsu levers such as the LS-32 and LS-40 without the mounting plates. Remove the top panel of the Carbon, unscrew the mounting plate from the Seimitsu lever, and screw in directly from the top of the panel.
Would that make the LS-40 too tall? I could understand it being a great approach for the super short LS-32, though.
I'm planning to buy this arcade stick. My question is the button is not small? compare to the button in arcade machine?
The button is 35mm same as the arcades.
@@AmirulOmarAO it's 30mm. Only two size for arcade's standard :30mm and 24mm
If this thing is compatible with a PS3 -> PS4 Brook Super Converter, I'll definitely pick one up.
It should.
If I buy it I'll used it with my PS3/PS4 to Nintendo Switch brook converter for casual gaming.
gunna buy one of these and an LS-64 for Icons: combat arena. will that be compatible???
Well done my man.
So you need to dremel to make A JLF restrictor plate fit on a JLF for this stick?
Just save the time and put a JLF in it.
okay thanks
Hey Jasen can I replace the start button on this stick with a 24mm sanwa?
Link to the background music please :)
HI, Jasen Hicks, do u know about Qanba q1 w/sw version ?
So what exactly does it mean that the Carbon is compatible with PS3 vs the drone which is a Sony licensed product? Why isn't the Carbon licensed and if I get one, does that mean I can't use it at tournaments or something?

Cool thanks! Carbon for me then
Nice Review. Now i know this arcade stick can have replaceable parts
whats the difference between this and the q1?
Its pretty much the same from what I can tell by pictures.
you can't buy those clamps... i might add they fit on a drone.
There are chinese pcb boards that play windows, xinput, and ps2 with wiring that cost a little bit of nothing on aliexpress that u can easily put in there
Does a Korean lever fit?
The bolt pattern is different, its not deep enough, and the top mounted gate won't fit through the hole that standard lever comes up through. So, no not easily.
Is easy to change art?
I wouldn't say its easy. In fact, I think it would be considered difficult since the top may not be removable if I recall correctly.
do you think i could fit a hori fc4 pcb in qanba carbon
I fit a Raspberry Pi in one, I think you should be good.
Does work well with the raspberry pi on different consoles
Am i able to put samducksa buttons on it?
30mm versions, yes.
Jasen Hicks what about sanwa sir???
Justanalt is right, Sanwa 30mm and Hori 30mm buttons will all work. This stick is easy to mod basic parts into. Advanced mods are a bit trickier (pad hack addons, etc) and require more creativity.
Jasen Hicks thank you so much! Okay so I have a last question for you which lever would you recommend ??
Nice video. I'm planning to buy a fighting stick that I can repair in case something breaks, I think this is it. Subscribe.
Go Sox.
If I had this arcade stick, I would install a crown lever and sanwa buttons into it.
I think you would be hardpressed to get a Korean Lever into it as the mounting pattern is very different and requires a very deep case (min 1.837") to accommodate it.
Damn...I'm glad I actually found this...Even if it is after a year! 2018 btw! kappa
I love how they never talk about korean levers >_>
Actually, if you watch some of the other videos I talk about Korean levers and how they don't fit in any of these cases really.
Jasen Hicks thx
Actually, there is one Korean joystick that might fit... It's the Crown CWJ-303A/303-FK...
