I spend about $1000 a month too for a family of four. I do meal plan and do grocery pick up weekly (no impulse purchases). But, I double almost every recipe so we have for lunch the next day. We also eat almost entirely gluten free, dairy free, and processed free so lots of meat, eggs, veggies, fruit….and coffee! 😊
OMG I absolutely love the way you broke everything down and even showed the savings along the way. All of your tips were excellent and extremely helpful! Thank you so much for making this video!
I love the ideas that you gave. My aunt won’t go to the store for one things anymore. Because the milk will end up costing her $150. She ends up going down the aisle. When she told me that I realize I do the same. I do without.
Using butter wrappers are great for greasing pans. Never thought we would use them, but it saves us a few dollars. Made an oatmeal bread yesterday. Had some oatmeal to use up. Never made it before. If anyone needs an easy bread to make for cheaper than buying it, this is a good one. It surprised us. It is very filling and good for you too. It was the first recipe that popped up when oatmeal bread recipe popped up. No eggs needed. Figured it would taste like oats, but the maple syrup flavor comes through more. So good!
I go to the store hungry all the time because then I’m in and out. Weird I know. I have found myself doing the silly impulse buys when I wasn’t hungry and had time to check everything out on top of my shopping list. I mostly do click and collect these days because I really hate shopping and people. The odd chance I need to go into the shop, I go straight after school drop offs and before I have had my cup of tea and breaki. Im hanging for a cuppa and breaki so imma be in and out of the shops. 🤷♀️🤷♀️
I also can’t go to the store right after eating bc then I end up not getting all the food I need because nothing looks or sounds good. So best time for me is first thing in the morning when it’s neither hungry or stuffed
Good for you. Our budget as of Feb. 20 is $236. I could not believe it especially since I buy all organic. It really pays to shop your pantry and freezer.
I'm doing $50 a week since January my Quizzy three river challenge. It's been tough but I'm saying for a second freezer. So glad I've been stocking the larder for the last 2 1/2 years it's helping so much
I hope you do a holiday planner ! I loved the one that In the Leafy tree tops had but it wasn’t there last year. It’s great for thanksgiving and Christmas meal planning and gift tracking.
I spend about 1000 also …I thought it was a lot but I have recently been asking around and it seems about right. I know I can do things differently but I really do try. Tip: TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR PANTRY AND REFRIGERATOR RIGHT BEFORE YOU LEAVE. I’m very visual and forget what I have….that’s why I take the picture
Hey! Great idea! I'm going to start keeping a notebook of prices! I have been keeping inventory list of food in my pantry because I learned that amazing tip from you! I write down what I have, the quantity and the expiration date. It is so helpful because I can see what is about to expire and can meal plan accordingly. I just love your videos. Thanks for the delicious recipes, too!
I am literally taking notes. Although I am good with couponing, meal planning and executing is my weakness! You make it look so simple. Your planner has me excited to make the changes.
You can make meals either based off of what you have or you can base it off of what’s on sale. Hard to plan on advance what you might be in the mood to eat
I was weak about meal planning and prepping and freezing extras so long ago but these pieces of advice helped me learn and succeed. 1. Never buy items on sale that you DONT NORMALLY USE- a waste of $ and you may never be able to use it very often before it expires. 2. Start making a list of your family’s favorite meals, school/work lunches and snacks, that include all 3 meals of the day. 3. Then, make a list of ingredients for all of them but in their own categories of meats, fresh produce, dairy, breads, shelf products (seasonings, flours, condiments, etc, basically the “inside of the store items found on all the shelves). Then see if frozen fruits or veggies can be substituted and cheaper. 4. Look at all the meals and what common meat/protein can you place under “beef” “chicken” “fish” “pork” “eggs/cheese” or “no meat”. Next, say you have taco’s, stroganoff and roast for meals in one week- can you buy a large roast where you have enough for a roast beef dinner, and then enough to cube the beef for stroganoff and shred enough for taco’s? The same with the rest of the meals for chicken or pork or fish? Cooking enough meat with basic, neutral seasonings the beginning of the week helps with putting meals on the table the rest of the week and it saves money. 5. Take your list of meals, make 4-5 columns and label breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, brown bag (for work or school lunches), the seven rows for one week’s worth of meals- then take those favorite meals and snacks and put 7 of each under each column and be deliberate about that first dinner so the meat or sides can be carried over to other meals that week. We also threw in a take out or go out dinner day every month to break things up, a new recipe and we also would freeze foods that were leftover for another meal or to use later if it wasn’t in the rest of the weeks plan. By the time I felt like I had this down and did t worry over it, I had a total of 6 weekly meal plans that were rotated and it saved us SO MUCH MONEY, time and angst. Yes, my family knew that Sunday’s or Thursday’s had some kind of roast that was later incorporated into other meals during the week. We are empty nesters now and still meal plan and prep for each week. It took me about 3-4 months to “get it”, so dont worry if it takes you a while to “get it” and also get into the habit of planning and prepping and shopping your pantry or cabinets and freezer before making a grocery list, it takes time and creating a habit like this.
I always recommend your channel and a few others when I see others on other channels I watch that are not cooking related channels. They comment on not having anything to cook, don’t know what to cook, need new ideas etc.
I just make a list and stick to it unless I do see a good deal, I bought 12 cans of refried beans, for .88 cents a can I try and stay around $150 -to $200.00 for a family of 4, yesterday I spent $28.00 and got a lot I use coupons too.
Sos those are great tips. I’ve been trying to track my grocery in order to compare pricing and it has been a challenge. I guess I need to make it a habit
I have the same budget here in New York State for feeding 5 people, making from-scratch meals at least 5 nights per week with leftovers the other 2. My budget also includes paper products, cat food and litter, and personal products for $800 to $1,000 per month. I keep trying to get it down, but we can't seem to with two teenagers and one mother-in-law to feed. 😀
You might really enjoy Good and Cheap:Eat Well on $4/Day by Leanne Brown. It was written in 2015 for people who live in NY, but has handy and affordable recipes for people anywhere. I adore it. 🥰 Also, that's fabulous budgeting!! You have skill.
I really enjoyed this and very informative. My problem is I dont have a vehicle so I have to depend on delivery service. Any tips on this or is there a video for this. I'm trying to work on getting stocked up but not doing too good 😕
I have a table where I write the rock bottom prices (and adjust if the change). The list only contains items we use by categories. When is time to do groceries I go about and check every item. I check if it is a need or a backup need. I specified how much I expect from each item to have and compare. IF they are in good price I buy, otherwise I don't. IF and ONLY IF I WANT to make something specific and is not in sale, I give myself that space. I don't fight it. Other wise I plan with what I have and complete with the grocery shopping (specially in the meats and veggies sections). Is a neat idea to have it in a notebook. I tried to have it on my phone, or taking pictures to later put the prices, didn't work. Neat idea!
I do kinda have a dumb question! Lol I absolutely love watching you and the tips you give. I also try to save money here and there but when I look at the ads I feel like I’m gonna be wasting gas by going here and there. Any suggestions?? Please and thank you! And by the way, you look great!!
I'm looking at my shelves now for what we need. I'm going to the "big town" 1/2 hr. away on Friday. Doctor app., brunch with friends at Panara then shopping for my once a month, if that, stock up. I shop my pantry and use what we have. Thanks for all videos!
I do go for only one thing but I only buy exactly what I went in for normally unless I see a crazy good deal. I stick to a $200 monthly budget which is hard to do.
I really enjoy your videos…watching you and knowing you lost a lot of weight…would like to know what u are doing…if u mentioned it in a video, I am sorry I missed it…you look terrific and would love to get some knowledge on how u are doing it. Love to u and your family…love your family values and Christian lives!
I feel like with Sam club you can spend your budget really fast. I feel like if I don't do a Walmart haul for the month I won't get the things at Sam club mostly junk food or things in bulk at Sam club.
I can’t relate to this video at all. We don’t have any of these shops in the UK. Sometimes I feel guilty for buying food storage items if they’re not on offer.
Her tips aren’t store specific so they can work for anybody. She showed her grocery stores as an example of why it’s good to comparison shop. Don’t feel guilty. I like to keep a minimum of 3 count or 3 months of each item in my pantry. If I go below that minimum I’ll buy it at the best regular price, and if I find it on sale I’ll stock up.
I’m from the UK too and only buy for the food store if items are on offer or if I have money left in the budget. Tesco club card offers can be really good, and if you use the app you can easily see when they are due to expire to find out if they are really a good deal or not (tinned tomatoes are always on offer, so that isn’t really a money saving). You can compare online with the other supermarkets too
@@heathermairie5111 Thank you for the tips. I agree the Tesco clubcard is brill, especially when you can get offers on the items that you need. Even tho it’s not a food one, tho you can buy some food there, is the Boots card. It’s amazing how fast the points build up.

I like to take a bunch of pictures of my shelves before going to the store to remember what I have when I get to the store!

Ty sweet lady. You rocked the food budget. Yay!!! I enjoyed your helpfulness today. Take care, God bless!!!

How was the yogurt? Was it worth the price?

You should just take the oil back to the store if its unopened.

Eggs may go down in your area soon! They were $16-19 here for 5 dozen and now it’s $13 at Walmart
No sale just normal price 😄😄😄
I have to say, Amazon has some good prices for some items. These items are half the price of what they would be at the store.
