I'm likely missing the point of this exercise.however, the stock pa18-150 has a better weight/hp ratio and a slower stall speed than the stock 170b therefore better take off and landing performance. It would seem you can mod both planes as much as desired. But then trying to compare them becomes a bit meaningless.
The point (to overly simplify what was said in the video) was to show that the 170 in its partially-modified condition now has comparable TO/L performance of a stock Super Cub. In stock condition, the 170 would've performed poorly in comparison to the Super Cub.
@@erickwebb1 and see every one is going to say you guys have such fun jobs but they never think of that do they? Haha maybe there should be an employee only plane to win every 2 years or so haha
@@ichabodwainwright3918 🤣🤣 It's always sad to see one of these planes go after I've gotten so used to them, but it's great seeing the joy on the winners' faces when they win such nice airplanes! All-in-all, I think I'll be okay (I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying!) 🤣
I'm curious, what is the new Useful Load with the STC AND the new interior?
Lots of fun. Great video thankyou!
Recently got my TW and would love to win this plane fingers crossed
I wish I had your jobs (and your toys!) What fun. And in airplanes many of us can potentially afford.
I have a 160 HP Piper Pacer at OKV. It would be interesting to see how it compares to the 170 and Super Cub
What are the actual empty weights of each of those airplanes? I'll guess that they're within 150 pounds??
Maule would be a great comparison. MX7 180 is very close to the same specs as the 170 now with its upgrades.
Why didn’t you install VGs on the wings?
They're scheduled to be installed before paint
They don’t do that much in a Cessna wing without wing extensions. I have them but probably wouldn’t bother doing them again.

Its really interesting to see what some modification can do to wake up an aircraft, not saying i joined aopa for a chance to win…… but it helped haha
I'm really disappointed I'm not eligible to win this one! Something about employees winning the sweepstakes just seems fishy! 🤣

@@erickwebb1 well i hope that face is my face, haha dont worry ill bring it to fly in’s i promise haha
@@ichabodwainwright3918 I'll hold you to it!
Sweet airplanes, now you should fly off against a Navion A.
vs 172s
Do the test at MAX WEIGHTS.
Good idea!
