Are you worried about what could happen on this trip..I took my mom on some trips..big mistake. When they decide 500 miles from home they want to go home. We had some very bad experiences. Mommy loved the beach and she would say take me where the water is, but I knew before we go an hour from home she would want to go back. Praying you have a great trip, and make lots of memories ❤️ 💕 🙏 ♥️

When my Dad with LBD has moments of “clarity” he apologises to my Mum and I. I just say “it’s ok Dad, we know you can’t help it”

I found your channel when you were first sharing household decor tips, and then when you started sharing Jason’s story I was enthralled by both of you.
Now something in my life has changed and you are a part of my heart, thank you for your videos! My husband had a stroke in early March, we are 60&61 yrs old, just starting to plan our future retirement. That’s all gone now, we live a life of intense therapy sessions and medical visits. My husband has lost his right side, yet he is able to use a cane some to walk. He has both aphasia, and apraxia so he is relearning how to speak, and control his motor skills. Yes, our story is different because we live in hope that he will continue to improve and gain back some of what he’s lost, while you slowly loose your ground.
Being the caregiver is a challenge and yet I feel God’s strong hand on my shoulders constantly, even when I have overwhelming sadness and just want to cry. The community of friends and family have boosted our spirits and have jumped in to help with so many things. I had a hard time at first accepting the offers of help, food, money, chores, but knowing there will be a time when the offers stop coming I take them gratefully and acknowledge that in letting others do something for us I am doing something for them as well. People are good, and genuinely want to help and do good. Not sure where I’m going with this, but wanted to reach out to you and let you know others are learning by your example and that you are in my prayers.

Your story sounds very familiar to mine. My husband had a stroke on Oct. 2020 at the age of 60. We are now 16 months in on the leg of our journey. I knew nothing really about stroke but have learned how it varies from person to person. The first few months were so difficult for us both and while my husband hasn’t improved a lot physically, he has made much cognitive improvement. We’re doing much better. I’ll keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers.

Happy Anniversary! We've been on two river cruises and they are amazing. Here's some things to know, try to walk a lot before you go to build up some stamina because there's a lot of walking on these trips, they do have a 'gentle' walking group but it's still a lot. It could be a lot of stimulus for Jason not only with all the sites but crowds. You don't have to go on the daily trips if you don't want to. On each trip there were a few days we were tired and decided to stay on the ship and we were so happy we did. We asked if the ship was staying at port or moving to another location to meet the group. Once the ship stayed in port and the other time it moved location, we loved when it moved location because we sat on the top deck and it was like we owned the ship, it was peaceful as we watched the world slowly go by and no one bothered us. If Jason is too tired for dinner and would rather sleep, they always put out light delicious snacks around 9ish in the lounge which are filling, the may be able to make up a tray for your room, and there's always cookies in another area too. Enjoy your balcony for peace and quiet as well for a glass of wine and maybe a lovely treat you found while on your day trips. Sorry if this is too much but just thinking about Jason and making it fun and easy. XOXOXO

Sorry, I got one more tip...We always pack a corkscrew in our checked luggage. Then when we are out and about we find a nice bottle of local wine. Back in our cabin or hotel room, we can open it and enjoy a quiet evening (or afternoon) tasting the region we visited. Wine is expensive on the cruises AND having them uncork your wine can cost $25...yes you heard me.

I commend Jason for still realizing the effect his illness has on you . I know you have talked about show timing . It must be very tiring for his brain. I can't help but cry. Seeing your best friend slowly go through this, I just don't know. I miss my husband. He passed from pneumonia and swine flu, he went quick and it tore me up. I pray for you guys often and will continue to do so. May God bring you all so much happiness and joy! God bless you guys

I just love these videos, yes, they do make me cry sometimes but I'm here for all of it. Everytime I listen to Jason I can't help but wonder what he must have been like before this happened. I've only been married three years now and I really hope my husband and I can grow together like you guys... marriage goals.

We did Germany to Budapest on Viking….. AMAZING TRIP! You will love the small Viking River boats. Wonderful experience and like us, you’ll probably be one of the younger couples aboard 😁

I went on a Viking cruise that started in Budapest and ended in Prague in 2019. Budapest is a FANTASTIC city! I could live there. Enjoy your trip!
I am so grateful for your openness in the process. My dad is at a mid level stage, lately definitely more like stage 5/7. My mom and I find so much - so so so so soooo much encouragement through your shares. You have no idea what a blessing you are to us. You’re in my daily prayers, with love and peace as only the Father can bring.
Any kind of dementia is difficult for the patient and their family. For someone so smart and funny and personable, though, it must be so frustrating. Your willingness to be so open is a blessing to many people who are traveling this same path. I live in Lees Summit and my husband is a fly fisherman too. Anytime you need a quick fix of fishing just let us know!
We did Viking just before my husband was diagnosed with LBD. You will love the cruise…so lovely! Have great time.

Sickness & in health. My hubby and I deal with more physical disabilities, but it's still taxing on him mentally and physically. I love him & wish I could do more, and I try to thank him as much as I can, that's all I can do. I lost my step father to this same type of dementia, he could never express his pain verbally, so having that is a blessing.
That is definitely depression, is he on any meds for anxiety and depression? My Mom was on for both, it did help her. Jason, we appreciate hearing the other side of Dementia, we appreciate you.
Leslie and Jason, I've been on several Viking River and Ocean Cruises. Our first one started in Budapest and we loved the experience. River cruises are wonderful and low stress. You can just enjoy sitting on the top deck or walking in the ports on guided tours. Cafes and bakeries are always a treat! Hope you enjoy this in whatever way works for the two of you. My mother had Alzheimers and I was her support, we traveled together and made it work. I wish you both a wonderful and memorable adventure. Cheers!

I’ve watched a RUclips channel that talks about these river cruises in great detail.
He gave lot’s of information & tips to have a beautiful experience.
Sleeping in after a busy 5 days, is understandable. Fishing with a little one so fun. A Viking river cruise from Budapest to Prague, so many things to see and do. Lots of time to look out the windows and sit on the top deck.
My husband also has been diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. I especially appreciate your videos together with Jason. I relate beyond measure and I find it both helpful and supportive in my journey. I enjoy the two of you and you are the model of a beautiful relationship.🥰🦢💗
Y’all are the sweetest couple! I’ve tried to put myself in your shoes, and I think part of the frustration has got to be that you’re so young to be going through this. My husband and I are about 20 years older than you are, and it would be different if you were our age. It’s not fair, but just keep trusting God’s plan!

today my kenny is gone 3 years, he also suffered alzheimers but it went fast, from diagonisos to passing was only 5 years so i am glad to see you living every momment to the fullest. i took care of my kenny till the last 5 months of his life when i just couldn't anymore. love to you both

I think Jason is doing far better than anyone could expect! His sense of humor shines even through the confusion! This is a very hard situation and I know from my mom. The head pain is so hard to hear about. Has he tried a massage? Budapest is so beautiful. My mom was from Czechoslovakia and she studied in Prague until World War II broke out. I hope you can enjoy this trip....you are amazing, Leslie! You are my hero
Thank You for sharing your story. I lost my husband in 2020 of Lewy Body at the age of 76. We were in the dark about this disease. I had watched love ones with Alzheimer’s so when he presented with and was diagnosed with dementia I was confused until I stumbled upon an article about Lewy Body. The article helped so much however, I couldn’t find more information about Lewy Body. The two of you are now, and I am sure, in the future helping so many people. God Bless you both and may the good days outnumber the bad. Oh and ignore any haters, they are not walking in your shoes.

I just want to say that Jason is so brave! I appreciate it so very much your honesty and sincerity of your struggles. My mom has been living with dementia now for many years and we are really seeing the changes and daily struggles, not wanting to get dressed and wearing the same clothes over and over stained etc. My mom was a person who was immaculate in her dressing hair always done beautifully and now lucky if we can get her to comb it and or get dressed. It is heartbreaking and both you and Leslie are just a great couple. I am knew to your channel and have binged watched every one of the videos concerning Jason’s dementia progression. Amy, I come from a place you are now. And whether you’ve said it to your followers or kept it amongst your closest friends, you will, sooner rather than later, have to make certain decisions concerning your husband and your own mental health. I know this because my own husband fell 15ft onto the concrete flooring while at work and suffered a TBI. That was the fall of 1998 and I was pregnant with our son. I love watching these Lewy Body Dementia episodes. My husband's brother passed away last year with dementia, and my husband has Hepatic Encephalopathy caused by liver cirrhosis from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. I know both of these are not the same as what you and Jason are going through, but my husband has a LOT of the same symptoms. Because the liver can't eliminate the ammonia from the body, it affects him physically, mentally, and neurologically. He walks with a cane and/or a walker but still falls, he has tremors some days so bad that I have to feed him, and he has days that he doesn't even know how to go to the bathroom by himself or what to do with the toilet paper when I put it in his hands, among other mental faux pas. There are days he sleeps most of the day. I have come home from work twice when the house would have burned to the ground if I had been 30 minutes later getting home. As a caregiver, I know what you are going through, Leslie, and I will keep you both in my prayers. I would appreciate prayers for my husband and myself too. You are an inspiration to me and I'm sure to many others too.

Thank you so much for sharing. My Brother and I just visited our Mom. She seemed so expressionless. We took her to lunch and she wanted a beer. She has not had a beer for 30 years. After, my Brother was smoking and she wanted a cigarette. I said no to that. I feel so sad for my Mom. I hate that I am not able to do more. The guilt is unreal. My Mom was always very capable!!! Now she struggles with every little thing. I will stop here. I am so appreciative of your sharing. God bless both of you. I look forward to your trip.
Leslie and Jason, Having lived with Lewy Body Dementia for many years (my husband) I really appreciate your videos. They make me cry and laugh. My husband passed in 2018 ten years after symptoms started, four years after the diagnosis. I applaud your transparency with each other and with your audience. My husband never asked what Lewy Body was or what it meant, I didn't tell him. I tried to keep family informed about his health and changes but I only told him what he needed to know. I watched the video with your family members and it was very moving, an honest look at the side of Lewy Body that people don't know. I used to get so frustrated and I would walk into another room and tell my self, I am not mad at him, I am mad at the disease! People would always say "Terry is fine" "You would never guess anything was wrong" no one knew what happened behind closed doors after he had to be "normal" around people. I pray for you both often and I wish you the very best. xoxo
