As a boy raised by a single mom who ran my father out (I found out at age 37 while cleaning out her apartment after she passed - old letters between them), this hit hard. I had many of the same mother wounds plus the added child husbandry issues when I got older. I was the most successful son and was expected (by her) to help support my older brother and his kids.

My mom was a single parent but she had a support system from my grandmother.. All I do is ask for the same support she received or at least genuinely helping as grandma.. But my askings go ignored while I watch my sisters kids get all the support from my mother while they dont have any dad around...I'm being the father that I never had.. While in my opinion, my mom is being the father to my sisters kids..with no issues. She doesnt expect a thank you from those men that she is stepping up for on my sisters behalf, But tells me to man up and be a man .. Pisses me off and I have to separate myself and turn to God and ONLY PUT MY FAITH IN HIM.

i probably tapped out too early, though.
these young men NEED TO KNOW the Cost, of getting involved with the Wrong Woman.
they can cripple a dude, before his sails fill out.
because of this, I've suggested to my son that he MUST NOT HAVE CHILDREN or a 'woman', until he's Established to the point that he is in Full and TOTAL Command, because regardless of what they say, they ONLY respect POWER, Authority, Domination and Mastery.
otherwise, the woman will see him as a 'peer', and challenge and undermine All his decisions, to the degree that he won't be able to ever get anything going.
they are they scorpion, that NEEDS the frog, to help her get across the river, but she stings him, mid crossing, because she has No Control over her Nature.
If the man is too weak to resist, they will both end up at the bottom of the river.
      of COURSE, it's his fault!
you KNEW she was a scorpion, when you let her climb onto your back.
(yes, you were overwhelmed by Compassion and Decency (and lust. let's keep it REAL...), because yo' mama taught you good, but you shoulda been stronger! a 'REAL' Man don't die, when he gets sh*t in the heart. and the head. twice. what kind of man, are YOU??!?)

This is also seen in Mexican households. My mom is a very toxic, negative, bitter woman. Never takes responsibility for her actions. She used us as a wheapon against our father whenever they had problems. As a result we have a very distant relationship with our father and my older sister hates him because my mother used her and told her every bad thing about him. Now as an adult I see that my mother was the problem all along. She is impossible to talk to. Kevin said that a lot of moms are babysitters which is in my case true. My mother never taught us to do anything. When I ask her now on why she never taught us to cook or clean, or why she never was emotionally available she said she didn't have to be there because her children had one another. So basically we had to raise ourselfs and had to be her emotional support because she is emotionally and mentally immature. I am glad to have found this channel it is helping me heal and become a better partner and mother to my children. Thank you Mr. Samuels.

A: I do NOT want an apple.
With accepting or rejecting the said apple, "apple" still remains in both forms of the answer. Sooooooo, that is not what's gets emphasized. What does, is the singular difference between the two. In your misunderstanding, you would accentuate "APPLE." What exactly gets emphasized by accentuating "apple"??
What exactly gets accentuated/emphasized by you capitalizing "love" that wouldn't get communicated in lower case???
"clearly show" Love is already individual of hate because they are 2 separate fucking words... Are your eyes unable to differentiate between different letters? Their different spelling is what accentuates them. Capitalizing "Love" doesn't increase or change the relationship or gap between hate and "love". I love my mother and still have her thank goodness at age 71, but I had to confront my mother wound last year. It almost killed me, but it was the most emancipating thing I ever did. Now I’m ready to be a wife.
My mother is boss, but when my father died after 35 years of marriage, I realized just how toxic her views on marriage and men actually were and I can see that she emasculated my dad, unwittingly or not.
She dated 2 or 3 of gentleman about 10 years ago as a widow but attracted either beta males in their 50s who didn’t have who wanted her to take care of them financially, or a great Italian guy who was in his mid 70s, spoiled her, but she felt he “moved too slow”. She ghosted dude at the airport the day they were supposed to go away together. SMDH
Education was always a priority. Cool. “so that you wouldn’t ever need a man”. Not so cool. It always made me wonder that was wrong with valuing a man as well as your career. Nothing but the husband part needs to be prioritized. I had no clue how to choose and by the time I was ready to marry after medical school, my father gad already passed. I picked a toxic narcissist out of my brokenness. I’m grateful that I have two young daughters so I’m not desperate to find any man. I got my head on straight, psychologically cleaved from my mom, and now I’m ready for a good husband.

This is absolutely true. The more detailed Kevin goes the more exacting his assessment is. Totally accurate. I realized my mother tried to sabotage every relationship I’ve ever had. You can’t clearly see it without help because it’s the only reality you know.
In hindsight and after healing the trauma I find myself present at home with my children. Preparing them for the actual world rather than perpetuating the lie I see the last of gen x are still pushing. It’s a dying world. Look to the future. Families and relationships are the most important thing. I worked in hospice and saw this. Over and over.

When I sit back n think about all the negative emotions n bad ways I behaved growing up, it all came from my mom. I can see her now as an adult and can only imagine how my mom operated as an adult when I was a kid. I asked her rhetorically “how did I get it from my dad if he wasn’t there and you the one who raised me?” She didn’t like that but it’s the truth. We all suffer gaslighting, deflection, and everything else at the hands of our mothers. That’s why we go out into the world accepting whatever.
Me n my dad recently talked and I told him I can only imagine how much better me n my brother lives would be had he raised us. . .

Even to this day I hold on to guilt due to how I iltreated my father because of her. I even walked away from two relationships that could have resulted in marriage because of the fear of men and insecurity instilled into me by her. Luckily, I learned early and forced myself out of that rutt earlier than some women. My heart goes out to them. At least I had my father around to help me and explain what is needed to be a wife and took it upon myself to learn because I would have still been walking around blind. Our knowledge has deteriorated to the point, that we don't even know that we are destroying ourselves by our own (action). Case in point, our ancestors knew that our "action" determines and set things on course "positive or negative". So, when a male and a female agreed to engaged each other sexually (action), it's more than emotions/feelings, it's "duty and responsibility" (action). In addition, feelings/emotions are the last things you want to make a decision with, because they don't override natural laws aka biology. Hence, why our grandmothers seek commitment and cover (marriage) from a man, before engaging in biological affairs, because they come with physically responsibilities. In closing, they also understood that divorce was based on physical abuse (action), and lack of intimacy (action). Real, before feel.

Not all women are like this, but we are all put in this category of being selfish, and I can do better by myself attitude, which is a lie. Children thrive in a two-parent household not based on a woman's insecurity and a man's sacrifice for one's happiness. The kids are suffering without a present father. I'm sure she's somehow telling herself and her single mother friends that only her children are the ingredients to happiness until her kids grow up, leave home, and she's all alone.

This is the best video KS has done. There were minor technical issues that I found distracting but KS's intro was filled with a lot of useful information. With this episode, KS really emphasized his views against advanced education. And I have learned the hard way, looking at advanced education the wrong way can hurt in the long run.
My mother and grandmother believed in going to college so I can get an education and get a good job so I can financially support myself. I was taught not to rely on a man for financial support. I think the reason why black women need to take a step back from advanced degrees is because the only purpose in going to college is learning how to learn. That's it. Then - you go to law school to think like a lawyer, you go to business school to think like a business person, you get a PHD to specialize in a subject. That's it. Otherwise, a degree is not going to fix you.
I have went to 2,3 years of therapy in the past and it has helped a lot - and this was after I got my MBA. It was therapy that made me understand my issues with both of my parents. My mother got offended when I told her the mistakes she made as a parent when we had a talk over 10 years ago! And she was the one who initiated the conversation! If she didn't ask, I wasn't going to say anything because I knew I would open myself up to being misunderstood. Which is why this video is so important.
We live in a country that like to put mothers on pedestals and here I am sitting over here, rolling my eyes because MY mother is not perfect. At the time I am writing this, I am 43, single, with no kids - and I work at a local gov't job that I hate and I want to quit so I can fulfill my artistic dreams. Both of my parents are survivors - and I don't want to survive anymore. I never wanted that for myself. So KS is right - some of us got mothers who want to see us survive, not thrive and be happy. And according to KS, my time has past. I understand that so - I wish the younger generation of Black women the best of luck in finding love and happiness.

My wife's close friend wasted her adult life financially supporting and carrying for her out-of-control mother, and sister. At one point she was engaged to an outstanding black man who had his life together. What killed their relationship is 'Survivors Guilt'.
Her mother's husband was killed in a car accident...she moved her mother into her home with her fiance. Her sister, an out-of-control and just plain useless female, was a single mother of 3 children with no job. Something happened between her and one of her children's fathers that she was living with, and her 3 children were threatened to be placed in Foster Care.
My wife's friend, who already had her out-of-control mother living with her, took custody of her nephews and niece. Her nephews and niece were feral (no home training) whatsoever. Her boyfriend, who was now her fiance, tried to get things under control in the house by enforcing discipline. Her mother, the children's grandmother, tried to intervene and shit hit the fan. The grandmother called up CPS and lied on him. When it was all said and done, nothing happened.
My wife's friends fiance told her, "I know they are your family, but they have to find a new place to live. He rightfully told her, "Their presence in this household is having a negative impact on our relationship. So, they need to go. If not, I will go! She told him, "But that is my family, I can't abandoned them!" Well, he ended up leaving because she picked "blood" over love.
That man ended up meeting and marrying a woman from Trinidad. They have been married for many years now and their kids are all doing well.
My wife's friend...She never marri3ed and her adult son lives in her basement. Not long ago she admitted to my wife that the biggest mistake she ever made was choosing 'blood' over love. Her mother (RIP) passed away from disease related to alcohol abuse. Her sister, an unappreciative and unapologetic cow, now claims that her sister tried to take her kids away from her. It is sad.
My wife and I used these stories to help our children, especially out daughters', to avoid making similar mistakes.
Black women...We have 2 amazing son's...get yourselves together.

She was smart, funny, accomplished, and so beautiful that nobody in the room could take their eyes off of her, and we had absolutely the best time together but at the end of the day she would cry herself to sleep being completely emotionally exhausted from taking care of her staff at her job and her friends, and her family, and her mom, and her dog. The only reason why I have any sort of navigation in the world, is because of my mother. The best thing my father ever did was give me a healthy two parent house hold with an amazing mother.

Kevin is on point with this one,I can agree with how he breaks down this important topic. This hits me so much and the fact that we(my m-other) grew up like sisters and it was cool at first so I thought, but as I started getting older it became tiring. I told her how I felt about it and she just brushes it off and tells me"you know who I'm to you" but that's Not what I wanted and needed to hear.Ever since I was 11 years old I always wanted a more mature and responsible mother and was speaking with my grandmother about it and my m-other hear us,she got so upset because she heard me say that I wished I had a more mature mother because I already knew that living with her wasn't gonna be a great learning experience. However now I can't be around her nor have her around my daughter with her kind of mindset, that's why I'm in therapy so is my daughter because m-other dear is just Toxic AF😔

My mother chased my father off, taught me to hate him and reward me with full freedom. That made me grow up to be a complete ass, thank God I had grandparents, aunts & uncles to set me straight.

All of this is true. I've said this about my mother. She didn't teach me anything, but how to clean. I had to learn everything on my own. My parents were married, but my dad was the provider, protector, and did all the cooking after he got off work. I had to do all of the cleaning. My mother went to work full time and paid small bills such as the cable, her car note, and her cell phone. She would come home and sit on her butt. She did not interact with my father, me or my siblings. Then she had the audacity to divorce my dad. When she divorced him, she wanted me and my sister to be her man by paying her bills. I use to think I owed her my life, but eventually I had to cut my mom off.

My sister's keeper Your statement shows you really don’t understand the fight that men have with women when you have to fight them and the state
Would you rather your father die in a war, or live to tell you the tale?
If he’s alive, he could at least give you a first person perspective of what the war was like, versus just being told what the war was like

So happy for the way I was brought up. My Mum served my Dad...showing me how to treat a man. She never allowed the helpers to cook for us. She did it. She taught me to be selective and keep my legs closed. I am a good parent and wife due to my parents.
