I just sent this to my mom. She pissed me off because I explained that Kevin made me a new woman who would support my man. She responded “what’s going to happen when he finds the real you.” I told her “the real me is dead. I’m only supportive and refuse to argue with anyone anymore. I also told her she poisoned me with this independent woman BS.” Thank you Kevin. You are charging lives.

I had this conversation with my younger sister who’s a housewife. When her oldest turned 18, she got depressed because she didn’t graduate from college or have a career. I asked her if she was crazy. Her kids NEVER went to daycare, never had a babysitter that wasn’t a relative, always had home-cooked meals (my sister can COOK!). I told her there isn’t a higher calling on earth than being a mother to her children.
She later thanked me for reminding her of her value and dedication to her husband and children.

My mother didn’t want me in her house after age 18 so I joined the military. Before she died, we had a long conversation that led to her telling people that I had disrespected her and had folks thinking I had abused her. I did no such thing. Needless to say she died alone in the ER after having an unknown health issue. The woman was so stubborn and wanted to do things her way by being manipulative and deceitful. It took me a long time to work through years of her bs. I’m good now and can talk about it.

Interestingly enough, my entire life she would call me by her sister's name. Either way, lucky for me she sicced the military recruiters on me when I was 19. ('You turn 18, you gettin' up outta here!') I got stationed in the south where feminism didn't have as much of a stronghold then, which meant getting a husband was still a priority for young women. I got married at 23 and celebrated my 29th anniversary last week.

This one really resonated with me. This dynamic is so toxic. Ever since I’ve been in a relationship, my mother has always tried to find any opportunity to convince me that men are bad and that I should just be independent, stay with her and not to depend on a man. I’m learning not to talk to my mom about relationships and love my family but keeping my family at a distance because many other female family members have that same mentality; and one of them lives off a man’s income. You can’t make this shit up!

He’s right about big mama’s generation being loving and caring. They loved and were confident in being feminine. I come from a two parent home but my mom didn’t raise me to be masculine or feminine. Growing up I was blessed to have three great grandmothers, two great grandfathers, and all of my grandparents. I learned to be loving, caring, feminine, cooperative, and submissive from my grandmothers. Anytime I did something they didn’t think was lady like, they got me together real quick lol. No open legs, no loud talking, cursing, no being messy, no short skirts, and sometimes no jeans. I watched them let my grandfathers lead and be a man. Even when they didn’t make the best decisions, my grandmothers were supportive. No one knew about their wrongdoing until they died because my grandmothers didn’t believe in telling everyone their business. I’m grateful to have two loving grandmothers alive today, I’m learning all I can about being a wife from them.

Narcissistic Mothers are jealous of their daughters. Once the mother doesn’t feel the validation from being a parent it’s a wrap. Most these mothers don’t want their daughters meeting the right guy early. They want their daughters to suffer before Meeting the right guy. It justifies the mother being a single mom or being married to Tyrone and pookie . Can go on and on with this one

Thank you Kevin for your content. I’m a 23 years old woman and I can honestly say I was raised around women like her who never gave me a structure on what a healthy relationship looked like therefore I had no knowledge or recognition on how to be a submissive and understanding wife for any man. My mom thought a lot of things were common sense and should have naturally came to me and my grandmother always warned me not to get married because of her poor selection of life time partner. It wasn’t until a year ago I noticed this generational curse I was in (single mom, meeting different men) and decided to make self improvement ever since.I wish I would had learned this 6/7years ago but am glad I caught on now so I don’t make the same unconscious mistakes✊🏽💯✖️🔟

The truth in this dialogue is unmatched. I moved back in with my mom temporarily when I was 21 because my boyfriend and I decided not to move in together unmarried. Three months into me living with her, my boyfriend proposed to me. I asked her if it would be ok for me to extend my stay with her for six months to save for the wedding. I was blindsided by her reaction to my engagement. She talked down on him and said I deserved better and told me I couldn't stay with her. In her opinion, I shouldn't marry someone I haven't lived with before. I was so surprised by her reaction because one of the reasons I decided not to live with him was because we had a pregnancy scare and I didn't want to be a single mom. When I told my mom that I thought I was pregnant she was super supportive, but when I told her we were getting married she was ready to kick me out of her house.
It's sad to think your mom wants you to be better than her in the education department but not in the relationship department.

This is a topic that definitely needs to be spoken about more. In the black community we often act like mothers can do no wrong when the truth is, some of their terrible, selfish decisions affect us all for life or until we handle it with therapy. When he spoke and said “but you can’t be here because you can’t be in my house or in my pocketbook” just WAR flashbacks from my mother. As an eldest daughter, I was seen as competition for my single mother and you saw it in how different she parented me and her son; He became her husband-son until she got a husband and I became a sister-daughter until I was permanent competition. I’m currently married to a woman who was raised to be her mother’s companion and not my wife. Initially, the close relationship with her mother didn’t raise any red flags but now it’s clear that most of our marital issues are because my wife (in title) is not equipped to be a man’s wife. I know it’s not her fault. She got a poor example of adulthood and marriage from both parents. Thank you Kevin because no one speaks about this aspect of failing relationships.

Same situation here brother. My wife was raised by a single mom during the early years of her life. Because of her own insecurities or fear of separation she raised my wife as a best friend and not how to be a woman. She was raised to have this sense of wanting a traditional man without being a traditional woman. The men on that side were rather weak and don’t have a backbone. They brought home the money, stayed quiet, and tended to their honey-do lists. Our issues are due to me bucking back at that, but I have to do that, we have a 5 year old son and a 3 year old daughter and I need them to see what a successful relationship should be life.

It’s called emotional terrorism, when friends and family are draining you for their sake.

This video was a recommended video. Wasn't gonna watch it due to the negative clips I've seen of KS talking to women. So for the first time I decided to watch an entire KS broadcast and I have to say this was a great show! It was done in a respectful way while being direct and getting to the ROOT of these ladies issues.
You really dropped a lot of gems. When you explained the generational history and change of women and the family structure...that did it for me! I can definitely relate. Moms and daughters really need to have these tough conversations so we can help the next generation of daughters to be better women and wives.

I agree with Mother’s failing their daughters… I don’t think mothers had bad intent, but I don’t think they understood the impact would have been so detrimental. I’m a daughter who’s mother didn’t teach. So we have to learn so we can teach our daughters and sons.

Same here. So my teen daughter just announced she wants to be a commercial pilot. She is very interested in making it in a man's world. I honestly felt like I was betraying my sisterhood to explain that a commercial pilot is not a mommy career. If she had kids, someone else would raise them. It's weird how uncomfortable I was.

I got married at 19 years old, completed my Bachelors at 24 years and my MBA in Accounting at 29 years old all while raising 2 daughters and being a wife. Married for 17 years and pursuing my CPA since I have my own accounting firm. You can do it. ;)

From my observation most do not maliciously mentor their girls into this mess, but from experience a mother can be a girls greatest enemy.

This was one of the best shows in a while. Great dialogue. No talking over each other and clear thoughts being put on the table for proper overstanding. 👍🏾
