I did the Gibb river and few expedition trips around Aus recently where we camped for 5days plus completely remote. A few things we found important. Water - enough for a shower or two, is usually about 80l for 4 days for 2 people. The more the better. Awning - for shade, even something like a gazebo is nice. Frozen meals - makes the whole trip so easy, we would meal prep and take them with us. Dust- the rear tub thing tom has will be full of dust, it’s best to get something completely sealed like a canopy, or a full aluminium tray and canopy set up. Tubs are pretty useless in general and only for looks. Power - just make sure you have more than one means of charging your battery’s. Solar can do nearly everything if it’s sunny but make sure you have an alternator charger also, or a generator. You don’t need a crazy vehicle to do these trips. A stock 4wd like a Ranger will get you 99% of places. However larger tyres like a 33” AT will make rough track’s comfortable and so will a suspension kit. Other than that, and snorkel maybe, you don’t really need anything else. Don’t forget your maxtraxx!!! Driving on soft sand, go down to 12 psi and sometimes lower - or get bogged. Sand driving is slow and steady, going gung ho will get you bogged.
Setup looks awesome man. I've been a viewer since the old days / motovlog / and now have had my Tacoma off-road / camping rig that we enjoy taking out !
Thanks for sharing the set-up, was thinking about something similar so good to see it in practice. Welcome to the West and I've got a spare 690 if you want to tear up some local Forrest trails 👍
That was an amazing video. Your roof top tent is looks like a good investment. Make a separate video about your roof tent too please.. have a good trip mate.
Come on Tom. We want to see Starlink dish fitted to the tray cover and used in-motion 😉😊 R2D2 riding shotgun so the mrs can stream her TV show while you're doing 130kph 😉
What's that unit infrastructure of the Jerry Can? Is that your water pump? Or what do you have pumping water? I'm currently looking for a good solution 😊
@@RidingWithTom That's I good way of saying it, without saying it 🤣 Yes fair point, enjoy the awesome road trip and better than NBN speeds in the middle of no where
Congrats on the raptor 👏 be aware of getting dents with Ford being cheapskates with the steel not that same as Detroit steel in real cars they once made. My Ranger was built to be thrown away once warranty ends. #BuiltFordRubbish
Living the dream Tom, a beautiful wife, a cool ute, and best of all, a WR
Damm nice setup there Tom. When you went down to the cave I was expecting the Uncle Nerb talk and history lesson 😆🤣
10/10 mate keep us updated on your journey 🤟

Thats awesome, keep us apdated!!
This is awesome. The setup I want and can’t wait for the raptor ranger in america 🇺🇸
Living the dream mate
I am now a big follower! Reasons are because:
1. Love the New Ranger Raptor
2. Love your setup
3. Your wife is a Yankees fan
That is so good , good job buddy
I’m mean it’s no WR250 with a jet boil and tent but it’s a cool Ute I guess.. 🤣
You should honestly take this camp gear to Iceland Tom. Actually perfect for it 😁
rig looks great
Tom, see ty Fenwicks video on mounting the Starlink. Might come in handy after your trip...godspeed, looking forward to the vlogs
Lovely mate
@7:17 reverse or forward, the answer is park?
A Riding With Tom video without a wheelstand, that's something new!
Anthony
very cool! nice video :)
Very nice!
Heck yes campingwithtom
Glamping with Tom
Beautiful truck Tom! Loved the interaction with the blue tongue lizard. You didn't bring Nerb?
Maybe the roller deck would have been more dust proof. I like your setup!
Awesome setup! Can you provide some info on that jerry can with the sprayer?
Touring with Tom!
Great work Tom. What RTT is that? As much as I loved my RTTent I loved getting rid of it just as much. But yours looks pretty good.
blue tongue lizards are the cutest out there
Watch those gearbox temperatures 🔥 ⏱️ 🤯
Nice reptor ranger and tend 9:31
Very Nice car camping...
Tom with all the toys
The box of JDs 🤣🤣🤣
Hi mate. Good set up. Just wanted to ask you what the weight of your rooftop tent is please ?
Hey man, considering a new raptor but haven’t been sure how they would go outback touring wise. What kind of Economy/range are you getting?
Nice set up, how did you make up the shower spray!
Awesome
Hi mate, can you tell me what the model name of the roof tent? I also have a 23 Raptor, wanna get one tent, thanks
Şiş kebab super raptor superrrr. greetings from Türkiye
Do you have a portable fridge freezer in the back???
Glamping with Thomas
How compromised is the ride quality/performance with all the extra weight? Still fun?
what brand is that jerry can that you sprayed water out of? cheers
Hello where did you find the base racks ? Please :)
What was the Nullabor like Tom?
What model is that hard shell over lander? 23zero model?
How much weight can u put on the roof?
What is the roof top you're running?
Anyone know what the rooftop tent is?
❤
The dream
tom you sure do rotate vehicles often, do you lease or just had your fun and try something new?
I had my Jeep for like 7 years, I would have had a raptor earlier but it was a massive wait to buy the new one
Isn't it bad to charge from the alternate, that's what I have been told.
Geez Tom how many vacation days do you have😂 your employer looking for new staff? I can do stuff!
Which tent is that?
Satellite set up looks cool. Is it a pain in the arse to set up / pack away?
Insanely easy to setup starlink, I can have it going in under 30 seconds
Plug it in and run the cord.
How is to live in a big island ?
What's that unit infrastructure of the Jerry Can? Is that your water pump? Or what do you have pumping water? I'm currently looking for a good solution 😊
The water pump is inside the jerry can! Just plug it into 12v and it has a hose outlet
What Jerry Can is this? That pump looks pretty strong...
How's the fuel go
Did you make this video to pay for the tyre/rim ? 😅
no awning?
Doesn’t rain in WA
How much does the starlink cost
$170 a month
@@RidingWithTom my god do you get a handwritten Christmas card from the big man himself every year for that price
There was only one rock
Hate to see the fuel bill.
Others i know get fueled every second day 😩
I daily drive a Tesla so offsets the stupid amount of fuel the raptor uses haha
@@RidingWithTom That's I good way of saying it, without saying it 🤣
Yes fair point, enjoy the awesome road trip and better than NBN speeds in the middle of no where
ıt's my dream :)
Nice setup. What’s the load rating for the ranger roof?
100kg, I’m pretty on the limit
80kg on raptor 85kg on the other rangers
1 Ethiopian
1 Ethiopian
1 Ethiopian
12psi for driving in sand boi, bag those tyres out..
you should a let ya missus drive.
Where's my Ford Ranger Raptor? Why doesn't America get a Ford Ranger Raptor!?!?!
You guys a Bronco Raptor! They are pretty much the same thing
Yikes they got the steering wheel on the wrong side😂
Everything looks like a burdelo
Congrats on the raptor 👏 be aware of getting dents with Ford being cheapskates with the steel not that same as Detroit steel in real cars they once made. My Ranger was built to be thrown away once warranty ends. #BuiltFordRubbish
FoundOnRubbishDump FORD. 😂
"gonna put him in the bushes where he can be safe". Next shot, meat being cooked on the BBQ. Hmmmm.
Fuck imagine being stuck in a car with this guy for 6 months...
Eww, how do you go from a 250 to a ranger? You should be in a jimny lol.
No you drink Jimmys.
for me a bit of modern poverty.......
Wtf have you done to that car man what a mess… make it neater
Chanel peaked years ago.
Bogan! 🤦🏼♂️
It's no good for what it's designed for so you may as well use it for shade when it breaks down.
