    Their entire DISCOGRAPHY is amazing. Early TOOL is raw and full of angst. Later TOOL they turn into PROG ROCK LEGENDS! ✌️

    I think this is my favorite reaction to date. Brilliant format. Beautifully reading the lyrics at the start get the emotions stirring and playing the clip without interruption whilst watching it's effect on you was the best. I must have watched 20 or more reactions to this live performance of Sober and some multiple times. Naturally, you try an guess what the reaction will be like from just looking at the still before you start playing. 99% of the time my initial prediction has been wrong. From classically trained teenage kids in Asia to middle aged school music teachers that look like they will surely be horrified and negative, but instead they are all left blow away by the performance and without the words to truly describe how they feel. I love how all these open minded genuine lovers of music describe in their own way the brilliance of this video.

    Oh my GOD!!! the way you read the lyrics... like a dark poet... it was deep! Yes addiction is hard... I loved this reaction! You are very captivating! Thank you Pandora!! ❤❤

    I am new here and subbed bc I loved your reactions to this and Descending! You seem to really feel their music ❤! Having picked these 2, you got quick overview, as Sober was from their first album (1993) and Descending from their last (2019) (they released an EP prior to 1st album). I typically describe their catalog as a journey from anger thru enlightenment, which, I'm sure you can clearly see the difference. I was blessed to be able to grow with them since the MTV debut of Sober in 93. I got the album the day it was released and was hooked! A week later I went back for the EP, but I really fell in love a few months later while seeing them live at Lollapalooza! That energy you feel from watching this video was even more amazing in real time! They sound as good live as they do from the studio, but the feeling live was intense and Maynard was so captivating! He did quit being at the front of stage after a few years, but their imagery took over and nothing was lost.
    Im sorry for rambling.. Im just excited bc i know you will love them too! I will watch mamy more past and future videos, but I hope you get back to Tool, you will never be disappointed, I promise! I do wonder why you haven't done any more Tool reactions since this one.. I assume life, amd the myriad of other things to react to, lol.. but I hope you get back to Tool soon! When you do, keep in mind to not watch official videos on first listen, they are abstract and detract. I really like how you read the lyrics first (which I haven't seen any other reactors do) every song is meaningful. Id like to suggest Aenima, Invincible, Pneuma (then live drum cam version), Opiate original and 46&2.

    Great reaction vid. Maynard is the king at making the listener/viewer feel uncomfortable. Totally loses himself in the song. Adam Jones, the guitarist, also does a fantastic job creating tension. He's a wizard with the sounds he gets out of that guitar. Enjoy the rest of the journey. It's an incredible one. Spiral out 🌀🌀🌀👁🙌🏼

    It's been said that Sober is an homage to Andrew Wood of influential band Mother Love Bone. He thought that he needed to be high in order to be creative, and unfortunately overdosed on heroin in 1990, at 24.

    Tool is haunting. And soothing. And scary. And satisfying.
    Maynard's voice combined with this insane play of every instrument. I mean, Danny...
    What i would consider equivalent quality is "Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing" Be sure to check out the live version ;)

    You should listen to Maynard's other band, A Perfect Circle and their concept album 13th Step. It is mainly about addiction from many different perspectives and the internal struggles with it. It ends with the most amazing song "Gravity" that will really hit you in the soul. It is simply an amazing album from an amazing group of musicians

    I like your style of reactions.
    I love Tool and what their songs stand for. The only thing I will mention is that this song in fact is about addiction, but I find it ironic that Maynard also is a wine maker and has his own business in it. This just seems odd that he sells what some people wind up getting addicted to.
    Don’t get me wrong, I’m not putting him down for doing what he enjoys as a side business, but you have to admit it is ironic how it sounds. Am I alone in this thought?

  • @phamily2572
    @phamily2572 9 месяцев назад +1

    So you fell into the Maynard brilliance. You bought that the song is about addiction. Time for the switch. Read the lyrics again swapping I or me for God. Now you see the real point. Religion is the drug. There is almost always a deeper level in his lyrics. Sometimes he is straight forward, but rarely.
