  • This project I mostly did completely by myself. I only needed help with the heavy lifting of the vertical columns. All of the horizontal pieces I was able to use clamps and put them up by myself. I did need help with other pieces but only for small amounts of time. For the most part, 2 people would go faster.

Materials were about $3500. My labor was about the same but some people charge between 8000 and $12,000 for a 12 x 50.
It took me just over one week, but if I had one full-time helper, I could’ve cut the time and half

600 ft.². I didn’t even charge $12 per square foot. Next time I can charge $20 per square foot but DIY definitely saves time.

@@Jeremyisyourhandyman Very nice. Thank you for the info. That ledger install gives me the willies, I always have issues identifying studs especially when it's that long of a run. What do you do to insure you are on the stud? Drill pilot holes big enough to visually confirm or was this just one that was simple and straight all the way across?? Seems like I would have ran into something or just had some of the anchors miss the stud for 1 reason or another.
Either way, sounds like I need to invest in a welder and start a new side hustle haha. Is the Miller Multimatic 215 a solid all-around welder?

@@Jeremyisyourhandyman Ya that's a solid deal at $12 a sq.ft with all of the fine finish details. This will last longer than the house haha

In the future, $15-$20 per square foot should be the bare minimum. People are charging more than that for wood, but I am building with Steel. Also trying not to price myself out of a job. Hard to maintain a balanced pricing.
