      Most of the job I did by myself so it actually took all week, or 40 hours. About five days but of course I was taking pictures and video for this RUclips video. With Help, I could probably knock it out in 3 or 4 days, but they would be at least 10 hour days

    1 1/4” x 1 1/4” square tubing My replacement piece was 1/8 inch thick but the original was 16 gauge or less. That’s why there is a slight difference, but I tried to blend it in with my flapper disc. Anytime I weld handrail, I do a minimum of 1/8 inch thickness. 16 gauge is junk. Reminds me of a soda can.

    Especially with the more expensive drillbits, I take a spray can cap, turn it upside down, pour some oil in there, dip the drillbit every few seconds. Especially drilling through steel. Cutting oil would be the best but WD-40 or synthetic oil works also.

    It’s a much cleaner weld with .035 hard wire, and C25 shielding gas. But most mobile welders do stick welding, which is entirely different video. Shielding gas can blow away in the wind, which is why this is a shop machine mostly. My #multimatic215 is so lightweight that I use it everywhere. 220 V is the best.

    No, no, no! Don't butcher your harness, just replace your flasher relay, It's usually right under the steering wheel, takes all of a minute to do. You can hear it and even feel it when you reach under your dash. I've seen people burn parts of their car with these hot resistors, its not even worth the hassle when you can just swap the flasher relay for an LED compatible one that costs less than $20.

  • @Welding_Handyman

    Cast-iron table would be nice. Some of the pieces are so awkward, I have to weld them in place. Fire blanket comes in handy so that I don’t burn up the concrete.

  • @Welding_Handyman

    So the load resistors do get extremely hot. I adjusted one and accidentally touched it and nearly burned myself so be careful. What’s cool about these lights is they function with the white and the yellow depending on what you need. The daytime running lights or the turn signal.

    Please leave a comment if you are a welder with an electric vehicle or are considering one. If so, will you be buying one of these adapters?

  • @Sparky-ww5re
    @Sparky-ww5re 2 месяца назад

    The problem with using an adapter to go from a NEMA 10-30 to 6-50 is that the 10-30, which was most commonly used for electric clothes dryers prior to the adoption of the 1996 NEC when NEMA 14-30 took it's place, is rated at 30 amp, while the 6-50 found on most 240V welding machines, is 50 amps, meaning you'll have trouble with the breaker tripping when welding at the mid to higher amperage ranges Which brings up another important topic that warrants a chit chat. If using an adaptor to plug the welder is causing the breaker to trip, as tempting as it may be to simply swap the 30 amp breaker over to a 50, DO NOT do this under any circumstances. The wiring is likely 10 awg, which is good for 30 amps. Anything above that and the wires begin to get very warm especially when behind insulation in walls and ceilings. At 50 amps this could heat 10 gauge wiring to the point of melting the insulation causing a short circuit and possible fire inside the walls and ceiling of your home, by the time you see or smell smoke or flames , it's probably too late to save the home from being a total loss.

    • @Welding_Handyman
      @Welding_Handyman 2 месяца назад

      Yes, you are right. The Millermatic machine only needs 20 or 30 amp breakers. 50 amp would be overkill. When I use my machine without a gas powered welder, 9 out of 10 times, I am able to use these adapters

    • @Sparky-ww5re
      @Sparky-ww5re 2 месяца назад

      @@Welding_Handyman thank you for sharing. It seems like all the 240V arc welding machines I've seen are shipped from the factory with a 6-50 plug, as sort of a "gentleman's agreement " if you will, in the same way that a TESLA EV charger comes equipped by default with a NEMA 14-50 plug even though it doesn't use the neutral (found out by surprise when I recently installed a hardwired TESLA charger and it only required 6/2 romex instead of 6/3. If I had to guess, that's because when you go to a campground or RV park to plug your RV into the power pedestal there are 3 receptacle outlets to choose from. A NEMA 5-15 or 5-20R, a TT-30 for small RV/campers (many folks would mistake this for 120/240V, but it is designed for 120V, 30 amp and I've seen smaller RV's that required every 120V light and appliance to be replaced because the homeowner wired a TT-30 thinking it was 120/240V like the 3 prong dryer outlet in a pre-1996 home) and a 14-50R, found on most RV's and campers. As for arc welders that draw 30 amps or less, I can't see a reason why it wouldn't come equipped with say, a NEMA 6-30 plug

What do you do to insure you are on the stud? Drill pilot holes big enough to visually confirm or was this just one that was simple and straight all the way across?? Seems like I would have ran into something or just had some of the anchors miss the stud for 1 reason or another. I have this setup plus more. In addition to a combo washer/dryer and garbage disposal, I also split the cold water to a carbon filter with a separate beverage faucet, and split the hot water to a countertop dishwasher. All on the same kitchen sink! Never had any leaks or problems for the last 3 years with all those appliances and everything works great, even the dryer function. The only caveat is, you can't run the dishwasher and washer/dryer at the same time, and they cannot be on the same circuit.

    • @Welding_Handyman
      @Welding_Handyman 3 месяца назад

      Excellent feedback, thanks! Did you have to do a custom drain adapter like I did or was your drain setup different?

    • @christopherstone6962
      @christopherstone6962 3 месяца назад

      Different. My LG combo washer/dryer’s drain hose clamps directly on to the sink’s Y-trap, no adapter or hose is needed beyond the clamp to keep it tight. The only adapters are at the hot and cold water connection to split them because the washer/dryer gets hot and cold connections, the drinking faucet only gets cold and the dishwasher only gets hot. Also, I’m in California where an air gap is required for the dishwasher only. So if the kitchen in your video is located in California, you can bypass the air gap. The manufacturer of my countertop dishwasher advised that no air gap is required, but I nonetheless installed one to keep it up to code.
