  • The base model costs 24.000€, while the fast and hot Audi S3 with 228kW or 310 horsepower, automatic transmission, all-wheel-drive and almost all optional extras costs 78.000€.

I also have a 1.0 tfsi 116hp Audi a3 with 150.000km on it. Besides regular maintenance 0 problems with the car! Everyone has something to say about this small engine, but when they drive it they are amazed by the performance. Its not “fast” like a s3 or rs3 duhh, but its quick! Just as quick as a 1.4 tfsi 125hp. I races one, we did go head to head 😏. I'm not afraid that the engine will last less, maybe the turbo will, but a new turbo is not that expensive. Ford also makes 1 liter engines with 3 cylinders (ecoboost) and they go over 300k km. If Ford can do it, a premium brand like Audi can do it even beter🙌🏻 . You just need to take good care of your engine and a bit of luck, but that goes with any engine.

What i wonder though is how good it's reliability is because this gets as much hp/L as a golf gti. I can imagine that it puts more stress on the engine than a car with less hp/L

You really have to be budget minded to drive a 1 litre 3 cylinder and even then the 1.4 is just as efficient and much better hence why I think people buying this car are just nuts.

The funniest thing with tiny 3-cylinders (or tiny engines as a whole) is that they often have the same or even higher consumption than bigger engines, for the simple fact that they need to be thrashed far more to keep up with traffic.

@@Pit-Stop To keep up with traffic?
200 Nm, 206 kph top speed and less then 10 seconds to 100 kph? That's not fast but far enough.
This car is faster as an 2011 Audi A3 1.6. And more economical.

1.0 is only good for small city roads that dont need big engine cars to burn silly amount of fuel everyday.
Not design for long journey trips of 120km
I feel the 1.0 car will struggle once it reaches 90k feels like its more wear and tear in the engine once its at that stage.
1.6 is more ideal since that can atleast sirvive till 210k
If your planning to keep the car forever.....
As for me. it will have to be 2.0 at 190hp or 2.0tdi 184hp
The 150hp my brother has, feels good. but after awhile on motor ways feels slowwww once at 110km.
Ive stuck with the 184hp tdi 2.0. Fuel wise was great for me since i drive only only motorways.
After a while i remapped it to 220hp and fuel was even more amazine. But for city drive it will eat fuel.

I have to agree. 2.0 really feels like it's the sweet spot for power and economy. All these tiny engines are advertised as using insanely small amounts of fuel, then you realize they're actually thirstier than bigger engines in the real world, not to mention less fun.

@@Pit-Stop 2012 my inlaws had a 1.2 car felt like it will not move unless i put my foot down harder. then in 2015 they had a 1.4 that car also felt like it wouldn't pull in motorways they used to avoid not driving it on road trips of 350mile, and would ask my wife to borrow our car to take them.
Now in 2020 they got a 2.0 now that car moves. I told them dont you dare ever buy a small engine car. Plus i can borrow it now for 600mile trip :)
