I know this is a two year old video, but after taking a '22 XLE Hybrid for a spin recently, here are my thoughts: 1). The seats. What is it with Toyota and seats that they think people like to feel like they're sitting on top of the car rather than in? The seats themselves are nice to look at, especially in Cockpit Red, but there's very little substance. The bolstering is weak at best, and the bottoms feel flat after 10-15 mins. Of all the things people have complained about, from this generation's styling, to the infotainment placement and operation, I'm surprised more people didn't mention how gutless the seats actually are. 2). What's not gutless is the powertrain. Quick stab on the go pedal while moving and acceleration was brisk and smooth. It will never be confused for a performance sedan, but this is proof that hybrids are no longer super slow and you don't have to be penalized for squeezing every mile out of that gallon of gasoline. CVT's do keep the engines they're attached to at a constant RPM, but it wasn't a horrible experience. In fact, some electric motor whine can be heard, so mixed with the ICE, it was actually rather pleasing. One thing though; if this same hybrid system is in the Avalon and ES, why do those systems have 215hp, but the Camry gets 208? 3). Toyota has the XLE's suspension sorted. Well-mannered ride characteristics for a "blue collar" sedan that didn't crash, bang, shudder, or otherwise flop over bumps or twisting terrain. I'd say the line between Toyota and their upmarket brand Lexus is blurred here. 4). Steering input is light without feeling completely artificial, though there is little, if any, actual steering feel. The entire car feels on the chuckable side and this wasn't even the XSE or TRD. Given that there is an XSE trim, why didn't Toyota give the Camry a steering wheel with perforated leather like the Avalon XSE? 5). People have gone on record multiple times about the brakes on a hybrid. The artificial feeling due to the way a hybrid system is setup. Here in the Camry, the pedal felt "normal". A lazy word to use I'll admit, but, perhaps this is due to me not having a wealth of hybrid driving experience through the years, I didn't notice too much of a difference between my current car and the XLE's. Response was prompt and the throw never felt long or labored.

So excited for it to arrive now!

This Camry shows speed and speed limit and other things on your front window , but Lexus ES 350 2022 does not. This Camry has front and back and side (360 birds eye view) and Lexus only back up camera (not that great). Something to think about if that’s important to you.
Literally had to scroll down for like 3mins just to see if im the only one who noticed this piece of shit being terrible at corners, even tho the influencer said otherwise lmfao
Toyota smart, they let the engine warm up and shut off, my 2022 x5 phev won’t do that, so whenever the battery is low in the winter morning and switch to engine, it sounds like engine is running roughly, it breaks my heart a little, but so far, nothing breaks down, B58 are reliable!
You mentioned that the 8 speed transmissions had problems. What kind of problems did they have or are having? I had. 2019 RAV4 with the 8 speed and I had problems slowing Down to a stop light and if I barely pressed the gas without coming to a complete stop, it would down shift from 3rd to first with a hard shift. I always hated that. Took it to the dealership and they couldn’t figure it out. We just lived with it.
I did some research and this Toyota Camry hybrid can go over 800 miles to a tank of gas!!! That is in the ballpark of 800 mile range with city and highway. The Honda accord hybrid is in the 600 range, city and Highway to a tank of gas. What a beast! You take 5 minutes to fill up and another 800 miles! Wow! To me that’s way more impressive than an all electric car! And no glass roof, which is why I can’t stand Tesla. Very hot with dangerous UV rays hitting you. Huge downfall! Also you take 30 to 60 minutes to charge your Tesla. I take 5 minutes to fill up this Toyota Camry hybrid and I can go another 800 miles. That Toyota Camry Hybrid is very impressive! If we were on a race cross country, going 3,000 miles, following legal speed limits, a 2022 Tesla wouldn’t stand a chance against a 2013 Honda Accord! Electric cars have a very long ways to go. Heck my 2013 Honda Accord four-cylinder CVT can go 500 miles to a tank. So when you compare a Tesla to a Toyota or Honda in 2022 there is still no comparison.
We have a 2012 Camry Hybrid and it drives amazing as well.. after getting rid of our 2017 Camry LE, I couldn’t believe how much better the 2012 hybrid one drove.. seems to have lots more power and drives so much better which I find strange since it’s an older car. I know this is a two year old video, but after taking a '22 XLE Hybrid for a spin recently, here are my thoughts:
Thanks for this! I put a deposit down on this exact car (red/black) yesterday but since they’re so hard to come by, I haven’t had a chance to drive one yet. (I can change my mind but after watching this, I won’t.) It’ll be my fifth Toyota (Camry, RAV4, Prius, Corolla, which I’ve had for 11 years) so I wasn’t too concerned. So excited for it to arrive now!
I’ve been waiting for 3 months for my se hybrid and my sales rep says in his 4 years there he only saw the xse hybrid once. Try looking out of state.
Black exterior always has a special place in my heart
I have the 2022 Camry XSE (not hybrid) and I'm getting 25 mpg city driving like clockwork which I consider not bad. IThe more I do highway driving the higher the mpg goes. Love the car. The panoramic roof is awesome.
In the Hybrid you have much higher mpg in city, around 50mpg
This is a beautiful looking car, inside and out. Maybe this will be my first car
Good choice
@@naveenthemachine I’m thinking if I should get it or get the avllone
@West West I mean it depends on the price and driving limits.I’m thinking about the camry.but I think the Avalon is even better
So hard to find now 😔 . Everyone’s getting one
@@kiingkay ?
That’s so awesome! Thanks so much for reviewing this car. I’m officially owning this car in a few days. It has a lot of amazing features which I’m not use too. I can’t wait to drive this car for the speed. 🖤
Thanks for another informative, pleasant, and entertaining review.
The glare of an alien creature.
It's so cool and I want it.
I'm glad the CVT buzzing from my Prius C still sounds the same as this Camry 10 years later lol.
Screw the CVT. Even with the acceleration delay, the 8-speed automatic is much better.
@@nikoss.kiriakis3268 but it’s not fuel efficient that’s why this model is hybrid
@@nikoss.kiriakis3268 No, the 8 speed is actually not good at all. The car sometimes doesn't know what gear it wants to be in, it's clunky, and the throttle lag is sometimes bad unless you do something to actually fix it.
And this is coming from someone who actually owns an 8th gen Camry...
Did you end up buying a RAV4 hybrid, like you said you were considering in one of your previous videos? Toyota's hybrids are the best in the industry, nothing else comes close to their efficiency and reliability.
Nope his wife ended up with the cx30, I think ultimately they didn’t want to spend the extra money they compared the cx30 to the rav4 limited with JBL. I think they mentioned garage space was also a factor
I love the way you film the videos and drives .
Ohh I like this Camry, finally something I like and can afford 😚
Excellent review I appreciate the no nonsense presentation of the car.
Can't wait to see the 2022 Rav4 XSE Hybrid
One of the best sedans you can buy, it feels like a european car but with the reliability and longevity.
Thanks for the preview! I ordered a Nightshade SE Hybrid that’s supposed to arrive at the dealer in November (2021). I did not want the 19” wheels so I purposely stayed with the SE vs the XSE. Good to hear I may be able to get 50mpg, I will try to achieve that.
Couldn't you just request the dealer to put on 18" wheels
@@ultragoldcoin8780 they are very expensive, I didn’t think maybe they would do it for free. Also, the car may be calibrated for a specific size wheel/tire.
The new camry 2018-2022 look awesome
that interior is beautiful
Great level headed driver. Does not feel any jerky motion of a helmet camera :)
I don't know why Toyota’s cars are different in design and features in Saudi Arabia,
Here in the video is super amazing
pro tip: leave a small air pump that you'd use for a bike in there with your spare tire.
I once had to use one in the middle of winter with the flu to air up my spare.
I really like the V6 and it’s the last of a dying breed. Know they’ll likely discontinue the V6 but hoping they don’t, it’s a pretty efficient one too
I agree with You
Im 23 years old, my first car was a 2001 Toyota camry, my second camry was a pearl white 2009 Toyota camry se, my present camry is a 2019 pearl white, i wrapped the roof, chrome delete. Tinted windows wrapped mirrors rear black v2 diffuser, lexus LED taillights v4, thinking of getting black and red marquee luxuury rkms, (black and red)
My dream hybrid sedan! Amazing job bro.
I hate how they ruined the center stack. The original 2018 dash was beautiful. Why did they feel the need to ruin it?
Cheaper to manufacture the tablet way.
They were able to make the screen bigger with this design. The previous design was only to fit 8 inch screen
@@FlexSZN23 There wasn't anything wrong qith an 8 inch screen though
I LOVE how Toyota make this beautiful car in America but unfortunately in Saudi Arabia it’s very different because in Saudi Arabia we don’t have these kind of good features because we have a Bad dealer for Toyota 😢
Or maybe it's a different kind of Camry, which are not available in UAE
This Camry shows speed and speed limit and other things on your front window , but Lexus ES 350 2022 does not. This Camry has front and back and side (360 birds eye view) and Lexus only back up camera (not that great). Something to think about if that’s important to you.
Nice drifting starts @ 11:19
Lol
Literally had to scroll down for like 3mins just to see if im the only one who noticed this piece of shit being terrible at corners, even tho the influencer said otherwise lmfao
I've always said that this drove way better than Honda's super loud hybrids
The best mid size sedan ever. 🤩
A sedan that almost looks like a premium nice job Toyota
2023 is about time for a remodel. Same model 5 years in a row.
Great video. I’m about to buy one and this video helped a lot
I honestly love how muscular this thing looks, I just hate the old interior and the low power
Low power? Man...you can't handle more power than this unless a trained track driver.
I mean, it is a hybrid lol
Its so satisfiying when u drive
Toyota smart, they let the engine warm up and shut off, my 2022 x5 phev won’t do that, so whenever the battery is low in the winter morning and switch to engine, it sounds like engine is running roughly, it breaks my heart a little, but so far, nothing breaks down, B58 are reliable!
Toyota's are the best they always last long
You mentioned that the 8 speed transmissions had problems.
The people in soudi love this car veryy
We have a 2012 Camry Hybrid and it drives amazing as well.. after getting rid of our 2017 Camry LE, I couldn’t believe how much better the 2012 hybrid one drove.. seems to have lots more power and drives so much better which I find strange since it’s an older car. Oh and we got lucky.. it only had 28k miles on it! Especially needed now since gas prices are high.
I don’t know much about Camry hybrids
What make do you recommend
I meant model year lol
@@ericlachmann2253 I’ve driven a 2012 and that was really good.. so I would assume anything from 2012-2017 model years.. not sure about the 2018 to current ones but it’s Toyota so I’m sure it’s good quality. 👍
You def need to try the kia k5 2022 gt-line! I really wanna see how it drives and what it looks like to drive
This is off topic - but your voice is very calm, and soothing lol
I love the sport pedal on camrys it’s just so much better than a regular pedal
If I was in the market for a new car I'd probably get a Camry Hybrid, but I'd rather it in the XLE trim.
The XLE is smoother and feels more refined.
XLE is amazing. I have one fully loaded. I like it much better than the XSE
Do not forget to check for the "open campaign" for the Camry you have during the oil change. It appears Camy transmissions do not go more than 100,000 miles. The Diller will not tell you anything, no recalls from Camry, they call it "open campaigns", if you ask them they will tell you if not, you are screwed...
Google it yourself, there are thousands of posts about Camy transmissions going bad at 100,000 miles...
We just bought one best car ever
Great car, great quality
as a 6'1" individual, I would appreciate actual headroom gap estimates since my hair/head literally scrape the roof of most compact cars.
I would have bought a Scion TC back in the day, but the original version had such a shallow roof that I literally couldn't sit in it.
We own a Toyota Corolla!
And we love it!
.
I am about to buy a 2022 Camry SE HYBRID w all the packages (a sunroof) and heated wheel/seats included for under $34000 (not include tax n title); great deal!
Toyota needs to make the Camry Prime!! Give us 300+ hp on like the RAV4 in hybrid.
While also keeping the v6 option
Toyota is the king 👑
Why does the front look like a lolly wrapper?
In my opinion, go with the European 8th gen civic it will give you that premium feel and its also cheap so I recommend that for your first car
Your are right the car is sporty but what you didn’t know about SE and XSE SE stands for sport edition XSE stands for EXTRA SPORT EDITION which means you have a extra sport hybrid edition so a fast hybrid CAMRY
🧢
it is such a great car😍
This car is gorgeous
Don’t understand the hate with the interior, I think it looks great.
Interior design is fantastic!
This car is a beauty ima buy this
This is a legend
As far as Apple CarPlay goes, does it work wirelessly with these new Camrys, or do you need to have an iPhone tethered via USB?
I'm definitely making a goal to buy this car one day.
Also, when you turn left, you have to enter the most left lane, not just drift over to the right.
huh?
If it came with AWD in hybrid configuration I would buy it
Me too, would love it... especially if wagon and ride height, that's my dream car. Audi A4/A6 AWD All Road alternative from Toyota...oh man... that's my love
4:25 those footsteps.
Thanks for the great review. The XSE seems amazing! Can I have you're opinion on how you would rate the camry 2022 xse when compared to a 2019 Lesus ES350 executive edition - in terms of cabin sound quality (quietness) and overall features? I'm looking at these two models as options for a purchase. Price is about the same.
According to Toyota this exact trim & options is not 33K as stated in video. It is in fact closer to $37K
I worry about a the black paint on the roof taking a beating on hot days. Might fade sooner than the rest of the car.
Unfortunatly every dealer is ripping off customers. $35-36k msrp plus $3-4k upcharges. You’re looking at $40k plus tax title and fees for a Camry!
