- Carolina Gelen’s Herby Mushroom Stew starts with golden-brown mushrooms, cooked with umami-heavy pantry staples-like soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, and red wine-until we’re left with a savory, hearty stew. Serve with chopped herbs and a bed of something warm and carb-y (we like mashed potatoes or rice) for ultimate comfort in a bowl. This video is made in partnership with All-Clad. Her hair is a work of art
I don't know exactly why it's a work of art since I don't know anything about hair, I just know she is cute and it's a very cute comment
Her way of demonstrating and explaining is so easy to listen to. Her voice is very calming, and just easy to follow.
She needs her own channel!! Love her!!
I'm not a mushroom fan.....but....watching Carolina prepare this stew and her wonderful descriptions and instructions made me want to give it a try. Love her presentation and prep abilities. Great demo!
Having once made Ruthenian mushroom stew from BA, I was skeptical I would do it again. But THIS stew, especially over mashed potatoes. My good god. I just made this dish for my wife and mother in law, and there is hardly a drop left! Everyone had seconds and licked the bowls clean. Bravo!
I knew I had to make this today when it showed up on my feed. I was not disappointed... Delicious
Would be perfect paired with polenta too.
going on my thanksgiving table this year ! I'm excited thank you for this lovely tutorial & recipe
This looks delicious! I have most of these ingredients usually, so this could easily be added to my regular dishes.
Omg! She‘s from Romania, I’ve been following her for like ages and only yet found out she’s from my mothers country 🥺🥺🙏🏼🙏🏼♥️♥️♥️
This sounds amazing! My friend and I really like mushrooms with almost anything.
Yesss! This looks so good! Carolina's recipes are always so yummy! Her IG is fantastic! :-) 💘
Woooow!! A warm belly meal! I love mushrooms 🍄.
Just cooked this for dinner, it was awesome.
Mmmm 😋 I'm definitely making this soon.
It's nearing the end of Chanterelle season, so I hope I can still find some in the woods. It's crazy that something that grows wild all over the place around here costs $25/lb in the store.
This looks absolutely delicious, I can’t wait to try it!
I am making this, yes I am! Thank you.
I want to make this. This looks so good!
Delicious, we had this as a stew with baguette the first night. The 2nd night over mashed potatoes. If you are new to vegetarianism, this reminds you of open faced roast beef. Will definitely make again. Yummy!
Need more Carolina vids!
I followed the recipe, it tastes very nice. Thank you
Looks delicious, I'm making it tomorrow!
shes so sweet :') this recipe looks bomb
Looks amazing 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😃
Thanks. It was delicious.
Whith burgul was fantastic.
I love your vegan recipes 😍
One of the best cooks out there
I love mushrooms I think i will be trying this!
Thank you for sharing!
So lovely.
Looks really good
My type of food!!!!
beautiful dish, beautiful woman, making beautiful recipes all over the place. Rock on young lady. You have some serious culinary skills not seen too often in the food industry. Looks good on ya!
It bothers me that there is still a spoon full of shallots left in the bowl ._.
….as well as the remains in the bottom of the stock cup! I’m assuming it was something like Better Then Bouillon that wasn’t completely dissolved in the added water!
@emberchord me too! Why don't chefs ever scrape the bowl?! I don't get it, drives me bonkers.
@@latinalibra8907 They are on a time clock to get it filmed quickly, so they are trying to get the steps done in the least amount of time. It's overlooked, is my guess. I know when I cook I want to get every last bit... and waste nothing. I like to think most of us do.
Lol. I just made a beef stew, it’s simmering now on the stove.
Ladies and gentlemen… HER🤍🧚🏽
Water will come out of the mushrooms regardless of when you salt them. The water will evaporate and the mushrooms will fry/sear in the oil.
Yummmzzzz
We call them champignon in Serbia, too😏
The same in Russia
Looks so 💣....
Have all the ingredients so definitely making this today! Am interested in finding the resource for the lipped plate and "pasta" bowl used in the video. Have been looking for a long time, but haven't seen any like these. They are exactly what I've been looking for. Any help is very much appreciated; thank you!
Not sure where you live, Kellie, but in Australia the lipped bowl can be bought here at Woolworths Supermarket.
@@margaretgiudice7698 Thanks for the reply, Margaret. I live in California, US, so don't know if its available to me. Could you provide the brands of the lipped plate and "pasta" bowl? Maybe I can find it in the US. Thank you!
she’s so beautiful🥰
This over polenta ❤️
Looks so boss
This would be amazing on mamaliga
I made a version of this and it was really good! But I think if I follow the directions more it will be amazing!! (Didn't add wine, stock, and herbs)
Would work well with polenta !!
They actually call it mamaliga in Romania. I spent one week there and I had a mushroom gravy with mamaliga….so delicious
can i use gluten free flour, like chickpea?
corn starch is gf
Looks delicious but not sure why it is called Herby Mushroom Stew. There was just some parsley at the end.
I have the same question.
My husband is allergic to tomatoes. Would it be alright to leave it out, or is there a good substitution?
Yes. Any other man will do.
@@craigfowler4488 😂
well tomatoes have umami so maybe you could try soaking dried mushrooms and using that liquid to add the extra umami youd be missing without tomatoes
I make a paste from red bell peppers. The one I make does also have tomatoes (I'm not alergic, I just hate the taste), but I'm pretty sure you can make it just out of peppers. It's very easy to make and it freezes well so I highly recommend it. 🙂
@@crowleysplants his allergy is to nightshades in general, which sadly includes peppers
I am VEGAN. This looks so delicious. I will try it without the wine.
VERGA
Ok, I love this channel, so this doesn't come from any hate! The recipe is fine, but not all mushrooms are the same! For a mushroom recipe, say more than just "pick whatever you like." This recipe is generally ok, but it would be great to know what mushrooms she's using (I assume from the look: baby bella , maitake, and chanterelle). People don't click on mushroom recipes to find out what they can do with button mushrooms (at least I don't), especially when the video is using a variety of something else.
Generally, from personal experience, people don't know anything about mushrooms. TEACH THEM! I am Polish and grew up learning about all kinds of mushrooms, am no expert, but do know more than the average American. For me, I guess, I can use what I like. But also from personal experience, if you don't guide people, everyone is going to just use white button, crimini (same as baby bella) or shitaake (in my opinion and observation, is the reason people who hate mushrooms say they hate mushrooms.) If you give someone an appropriately cooked for the dish porcini (with polenta anyone) or creamy morel recipe, depending on what you are doing with what mushroom, people end up loving mushrooms! Again, every mushroom is different.
This is a cooking channel, so it should teach people! The video is fine, the chef is lovely, but I was expecting to learn a bit more about different mushrooms...
EDIT: Gah... I also just noticed that the logo's not centered...I just realized tonight after watching this channel for a while. I am a designer/animator so paid attention to that stupid detail, and am also just having a bad day (watching your channel to feel better!!). I LOVE this channel, have watched for a long time now, I just noticed the logo watching this video!!
Olive oil is not for frying tho...
Sit down and have some bread to help you calm down
Lol what?! Who told you that?
Why is every single thing she says, a question?
If vegan were a person…
Please try to avoid the uptalk. Seriously.
