I found this 1988 #BMW #K100 on facebook marketplace. The previous owner said the bike had sat for close to 10 years because he had an accident which prevented him from riding. He replaced the fuel pump and battery and was able to get the bike running before I bought it. It smokes alot on start up like most typical K's but upon my first test ride everything went pretty smoothly other than finding out the fuel tank was leaking and the radiator fan was completely seized. The bike was originally a brown/tan color and had the full LT fairing but at some point it was repainted red and some of those bulky faring parts were removed. Now that I have taken the bike apart I have a good idea on everything I need to start customizing the bike into a more modern cafe racer!
I am collaborating with Jas from @jaxgarageau to fabricate a ton of custom parts that will make this bike unique from every other K100 build! #caferacer

That was my first ‘K’ series . February.83 naked and loved the style. BMW grilled around the radiator, magic. Came with a full Rickman touring fairing and a seat same as yours.

Awesome man! Thanks for watching! I built a K75 last year and that's what started my obsession with these old BMW's. I have been enjoying your video series on the electric bike build and look forward to seeing what you do with a K100! If you have any questions or want to chat just hit me up on Instagram. I'm typically more active on there.

Appreciate it buddy! Taking the bike apart is always fun because you get to find all the hidden surprises from the work of the previous owners! Luckily with this bike everything was in pretty good shape other than the general maintenance items that are sometimes neglected.

Yes, this one was in surprisingly good shape other than a few cut wires on the harness.

Love your work fellow Floridian! I just can't wait to see the final result on this bike, but I'm sure she'll come out beautiful based on what I saw on your previous project. It'll be nice to see the tank in a grayish blue tone (kinda like the r nine t), with a tanned leather seat!

alright mate, here we go... have been waiting for the project to start.
good donor bike, quite something else than the regular r100 & r80 rt’s. not sure how the aftermarket looks like for engine parts, but I think the bmw’s are a good factory build anyway
    looking forward for the transformation

They way over complicated the electrical system on the K series bikes as compared to the the R series but overall they are pretty easy bikes to work on. Totally different feel compared to the airhead though. Much more aggressive in my opinion.

I've never ridden a K100, briefly a K75 custom my friend owned. I did try an R1150R which felt so smooth with great breaks. I prefer boxers
