I found this 1988 #BMW #K100 on facebook marketplace. The previous owner said the bike had sat for close to 10 years because he had an accident which prevented him from riding. He replaced the fuel pump and battery and was able to get the bike running before I bought it. It smokes alot on start up like most typical K's but upon my first test ride everything went pretty smoothly other than finding out the fuel tank was leaking and the radiator fan was completely seized. The bike was originally a brown/tan color and had the full LT fairing but at some point it was repainted red and some of those bulky faring parts were removed. Now that I have taken the bike apart I have a good idea on everything I need to start customizing the bike into a more modern cafe racer!
I am collaborating with Jas from @jaxgarageau to fabricate a ton of custom parts that will make this bike unique from every other K100 build! #caferacer

That was my first ‘K’ series . February.83 naked and loved the style. BMW grilled around the radiator, magic. Came with a full Rickman touring fairing and a seat same as yours.
Dude YESSSS. About to start a K100 build, huge thanks for the videos!
Awesome man! Thanks for watching! I built a K75 last year and that's what started my obsession with these old BMW's. I have been enjoying your video series on the electric bike build and look forward to seeing what you do with a K100! If you have any questions or want to chat just hit me up on Instagram. I'm typically more active on there.
Can’t wait to see the next episode.👍🏻
Thanks for following along! Hope to get another episode out soon!
Such a satisfying thing to do, taking the bike apart and knowing its going to great after a little while and some effort. Looking forward to the final episode👍
Appreciate it buddy! Taking the bike apart is always fun because you get to find all the hidden surprises from the work of the previous owners! Luckily with this bike everything was in pretty good shape other than the general maintenance items that are sometimes neglected.
Really beautiful retro motorcycle better looking then some of the other new retro bikes of today like education scrambler and Yamaha Rx 7 n 9
Thank you!
Its a really good base buddy, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this!
Thanks Ben! Got some big plans for this one! Should be my most modified build when I'm done with it.
Came apart nicely.
Yes, this one was in surprisingly good shape other than a few cut wires on the harness.
Can’t wait to see more.
Appreciate the support man!
Love your work fellow Floridian! I just can't wait to see the final result on this bike, but I'm sure she'll come out beautiful based on what I saw on your previous project. It'll be nice to see the tank in a grayish blue tone (kinda like the r nine t), with a tanned leather seat!
Thanks for following along with the build! I've been making alot of progress cleaning up the old parts and ordering new things that need to be replaced. Hope to have some new videos out soon!
Like that seat, looks like a Corbin
spot on! it is a corbin seat made for BMW at the time.
alright mate, here we go... have been waiting for the project to start.
good donor bike, quite something else than the regular r100 & r80 rt’s. not sure how the aftermarket looks like for engine parts, but I think the bmw’s are a good factory build anyway
looking forward for the transformation
They way over complicated the electrical system on the K series bikes as compared to the the R series but overall they are pretty easy bikes to work on. Totally different feel compared to the airhead though. Much more aggressive in my opinion.
amazing! I'm on my way to do this to a little one K75S, and I'll be watchinmg your channel ;)
Very cool! I have a 1988 K75C that I turned into a cafe racer and I love that bike! It is what got me hooked on BMW's
I love those wheels
me too!
K100 is on my future list I'd love to see how you change I heard that K100 is not an easy bike to work on. And collaborating with the @jaxgarageau would be very interesting!!!
I have also a vid of my Cafe Racer build on my channel and the next project is already here :) Looking forward to your BMW build!
I am excited for this build! Maybe consider talking a bit and explaining whats going on?
Thanks for following along! I will try to include more information in the upcoming videos
Very useful videos dude 👍🏻
Size of te tires? 😅
Great job man. Big fan of your work
Could you tell me how much did you get the base bike for??
Thank you! You can usually find a running K100 with decent mileage for $2,000-$4,000.
I've never ridden a K100, briefly a K75 custom my friend owned. I did try an R1150R which felt so smooth with great breaks. I prefer boxers
I enjoy having both in the garage! Each has their own appeal.
Wauw can’t wait
Bike should be finished and ready for a test ride in the next week or two 😁
For racing to the cafe its better to leave it in one piece.
lol good point
Still working on this one? Really liking the detailed perspective.
Yes, making good progress on it I plan on releasing some more videos very soon!
@@BayCityRestorations awesome I just subbed I'll be looking fwd to it
Do you end up replacing a lot of parts or try to refurbish what u can?
I refurbish as much as possible and only source replacements if it’s essential for safety or longevity of the bike.
legal
You need a lift homie. Great work btw.
Need a bigger garage first! Haha
I need your BMW first row bro plz cell me.. ...I'm big fan of you... You are a unique person..... Awesome bro
Thank you! I currently do not have any bikes for sale.
8:12 😂
alot of wiring on these bikes haha
That was disappointing I wanted to see the whole transformation maybe you use a title which makes it clear its only the strip down
It says EP. 1 (Episode 1) in the thumbnail
I will be releasing more videos on the progress soon and then do a full build time-lapse at the end.
the "driving brick"....BMW's new motor concept from the early eighties, durable but terrible design......
Some brilliant engineer thought it was a good idea to just mount a frame onto an inline 4 and put two wheels on it. 😆
the “FLYING Brick”. Lol
