Just went on a spree of collecting Fire Emblem boxsets, partially inspired by you. I have the 30th anniversary, Warriors, Warriors 3 Hopes, Fates Special Edition, Echoes, Three Houses, and finally got my Engage Divine Edition in today to complete my collection. Really loving Engage! And loving your videos! Keep up the good work.
Oh that sounds so lovely!! I'm glad you were able to get all of those - the Fire Emblem box sets are some of my favorites in my collection. And glad to hear you're loving Engage too!! 😄
@@ianp5367 don’t get the false impression that I didn’t sell a kidney. I did. But I justified it by thinking about how it would only get even more expensive and it was the single piece I wanted more than any other one! Lol
I have been able to get most of them. I also have all the amiibo. I love fire emblem. And engage is amazing Love the box set as well. I have the fates box too, although its my least fav FE game
Thanks for the shout-out! 😁 Hope you enjoy BR when you get to it. I also just picked up Fairy Fencer F. I was on the fence about it for a long time on the PS4, and then it started to become more scarce, so when I saw the Switch version coming out I figured I should just go for it.
Man you’re a better person than me.. soon as that money hit my bank account I would have ignored them so hard. If they ended up re-reversing the charges so be it but they prolly would have just cut their loses. They should have offered it to you to keep as step 1 after realizing they made the mistake and there was no recourse. Oh well. Anyway love your taste in games def gonna have to try. Some of these out! Cheers from IL
Yeah I definitely thought about it but I didn't want to get potentially blacklisted and as I mentioned the experience soured me towards the game unfortunately 😔 But thanks, I hope you find some worth picking up for yourself :)
Wow, you had some really great pickups this past month! Oh, and no apologies needed as far as your rant goes. I followed it on twitter and was frustrated for you! There are not many things that drive me as crazy as bad customer service, especially when companies seem to set procedures up badly practically deliberately.
Thanks, it was a really great month! And yeah the whole NISA thing was frustrating. I'm glad it's over but I can't help but worry for my upcoming preorders :/
I recently picked up a lot of JRPGs this past month, my favorite obviously being the Fire Emblem Engage Divine Edition. Thanks to you I actually learned about vgp reprints, and after your last video talking about FOMO, i was lucky to get the Atelier Ryza reprints! I am super happy to be able to pick up both for less than it wouldve cost on ebay/amazon/etc. You’ve introduced me to so many good sites for picking up games. On the other hand, would you be interested in a Collection Room tour? As far as ive seen you haven’t shown your collection in its entirety yet, it would be super cool to see all the games you’ve accumulated over the years. Thanks again!
Oh I'm glad you were able to snag those Ryza reprints!! I'm actually in a weird moving hiatus situation for work so I don't have my collection set up atm 😅 But after I officially move I'll likely post a lot of collection room themed videos :)
This series is quickly becoming a favorite of mine on this platform! The general diversity within your pick ups is always really nice to see, along with the games you get as we have very similar game interests! Really loving the Playstation pick ups as well and i hope you're able to get a PS5 soon and join the family! Truly a stellar system and the Dualsense controller is innovation at it's best! As always, stellar video Emily :)
Thanks Mike! I really need to start playing more PlayStation games this year. I keep buying them but my handheld systems keep luring me away lol. I think I may try to push myself to getting some play time for at least one game a month. We'll see if I can hold myself accountable to this 😂
@@orbalology The allure is too strong and also justified as those games will only get more and more pricey! Also i hope you're able too as well as the exclusives and third party games are super fun!
So many exciting pickups! I've also been wanting to get Valkyrie Profile (it's so refreshing to see such an affordable JRPG on the DS!) And I'm glad you found a good deal for Nostalgia! I've always been curious about that one, I've heard great things about it 🥰
I know right!? There aren't so many limited options when it comes to affordable JRPGs on the DS 😭 And I'll let you now if Nostalgia is worth the price!
Thanks for sharing all of your pickups! I'm waiting for my copy of Witch on the Holy Night to come in since it got delayed a bit, but I'm so happy that we finally got a localized VN from Type Moon! It gives me hope that maybe we'll get some of their other VN's localized such as Tsukihime & Fate (which I've already played both, but would buy again to support a western release). Also, I'm excited for you to get into the Utawarerumono series! It's my favorite story in video games and I'm glad you were able to get all 3 games so you could experience it!
I would love to see official localizations of Tsukihime & Fate as well!! The more VN localizations we get over here the better 😄 Oh I'm glad to hear you're a Utawareumono fan! So many amazing things have been said about this series so I'm really looking forward to seeing how they turn out :)
Nice haircut. I'm not sure whether or not they're easier to find now, but from what I've found, getting the PS5 through Sony themselves through use of your PSN ID was fairly quick and easy. I'm debating on whether or not I want to wait until I watch and finish One Piece before I play the game. I'm sorry to hear about the issues you had with NISA. Sadly scalping seems to be happening with so many games recently, and it seems like that may be what happened with this game. I can understand being soured by the whole experience, it sounds very frustrating. I haven't really picked anything up this month besides the Crisis Core Remaster and Ys VIII, and I don't really have a favorite as of yet since I haven't had the time to get to them.
Thanks. I've been seeing PS5s pop up more often in retail online and around my area. I just need to figure out when I'll be able to play it before I commit to buying one 😅
I just recently bought a DS with Zelda Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. I'm really excited because it will be my first playthrough with those games
Oh nice! I bought those semi recently as well but still need to get around to them. It's cool how innovative the stylus & bottom screen mechanics were for these titles.
Totally understand your experience souring you on the game. I kinda feel that way about the Advance Wars reboot now, unfortunately. I was really excited for it, but then they delayed it over world events, even though it's fully complete and ready to go. Okay, fine, I suppose I can understand... but it's been well over a year now! Really took the wind out of my sails, and the excitement I had is gone. (Funny enough, apparently there was an article posted an hour ago saying it could be released next week.)
Delays can certainly make you less hyped for a game! It'll be cool if Nintendo releases it soon but I agree I'm less hyped for it compared to last year unfortunately.
oof, sorry about your NIS situation! i was also pretty upset about the liar princess and the blind prince situation, but even after you successfully ordered it, you still had to deal with that 😭
What was the Liar Princess and the Blind Prince situation? I have the collector's edition but just couldn't get into it... seems like it's selling fairly well on eBay now. I have only ever gotten rid of one video game I've owned (Super Paper Mario on the Wii, which was just terrible, IMO) but this is another one I may just sell off...
LOL never mind... just got to that part of the video. I need to stop responding before I finish watching. 😓 Ugh... my biggest pet peeve was ATLUS with Shin Megami Tensei V... they said specifically that it would sell at a specific time on a specific date, and I even took the day off work to make sure I got a copy. Then ATLUS ended up listing it hours late and it sold out within about five minutes. 😠 (I did get two copies... a stupidly overpriced scalped copy off eBay because I couldn't bear the thought of not having a CE of a SMT game, and then another copy when they listened to customers and had a second round and I managed to hit refresh on my browser just in time.)
Great pickups! I want all of those games too. Sorry to hear about the NISA debacle, wish they would just make more copies of everything! Oh god... LRG. My friends and I always joke that LRG has a total of one person running everything. "Remember, it's just one guy, so we just need to be patient" 😆. I am still waiting on my 2 switch LRG blind boxes from from a month ago. My friend got his switch collectors LRG blind boxes very quickly, which makes me wonder how things are prioritized around there. Fairy Fencer F was a great pickup, we all got a copy too. Not sure if you are interested, but for notable pickups for me, I just got Disgaea 4 AND Has Been Heroes out in the wild at GameStop for pretty cheap. I was really shocked to find them. Anyways, thanks for the videos. I really enjoy seeing what people are collecting.
Oh I hope your blind boxes arrive sooner rather than later. I remember LRG releasing a statement not to expect receiving those until the end of Q1 for the standard edition blind boxes. I'm not sure how their operations work but they really can be terribly slow at times. And nice finds yourself! It's great to see unexpected titles out in the wild for great prices :)
Wow, great pick ups! I saw a lot of hype around OP odyssey , but after the release, nobody talked about it😅 I hope you can do some sort of review after playing it, once you get your PS5 (I’m glad you’re getting one!) I haven’t bought a single game there, been playing Ps plus games I missed during the PS4 era, tho 😢 I would’ve done the same with Professor Layton and phoenix wright, that game is a rare one, If you got a good deal on it. It was a no-brainer 😅 I usually don’t have a lot of faith in anime games, they don’t tend to exploit their potential. Feel like the studios think that their fame and fandom will do the work, instead of doing their best to make it great, but One piece and AoT may be the exception. Looks like you NIS rant was serious 😅 you usually look like a very chill, relax and quiet person, but I could get your feelings my even though your tone didn’t change much. My recent pick ups are Persona 4 golden Gravity rush (PS Vita) Pokémon scarlet I still need to get my hands on P5R, but since P4G is usually harder to find, I just took it right away 😅😅
Yeah I think a lot of people got caught up in the Forespoken review bombing or anticipation for Fire Emblem Engage, so One Piece Odyssey got pushed to the side a bit. And I agree a lot of anime games tend to be cash grabs but it's nice when certain games like Odyssey, AoT, and Fairy Tail (from what I've heard) recieve better development treatment. I'm still annoyed at the NISA situation, probably won't get over it for awhile because I tend to hold onto grudges 😅 And I'm glad to hear you scooped up some Vita games, and hope you enjoy Pokemon Scarlet!
I was curious how it looks like when you are angry because you always smile and are so nice and polite. That was funny, your rant, it was a rare occasion to see you mad about something. 😉
Great pickups video, Emily! I always enjoy the relaxing music you play in the background of your videos. I also feel out of the niche JRPG loop these days so seeing and hearing all of the games you pickup helps me expand my wish list (a blessing and a curse to my never ending backlog 😂). Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Rusty! With JRPGs having a strong comeback these last few years there's been so many interesting ones popping up. It's definitely been difficult to keep track of them all and try to limit what I add to my wish list as well 😂
Great video! You should definitely preorder Octopath 2 for the Steelbook. The Crisis Core Steelbooks go for so much money on eBay now. I preordered both the PS5 and Switch versions so that I can have both Steelbook types.
Sick vid! I didn’t even know abt that Liar reprint- so lame that u were lucky enough to get it and they still did u dirty >_< also Nostalgia for $70 is a solid deal! I’ve had that one on my list for quite some time and never pulled the trigger. DS is probably my favorite to collect for, nice to see u get more og titles :3
Thanks! Yeah NISA may do more reprints, it was so weird they really limited those :( The DS has been really enjoyable to collect for! I just wish so many of my wish list items weren't so expensive lol
@@orbalology i got most of what I want for DS a while back, last splurge was for Last Window the Secret of Cape West last year - needed to complete my CiNG VN collection lol - good luck w/ the deals!
Thank you for the video, hunny. 😉 I've probably picked up too many games again this past month. I just got Bug Fables, Arcade Paradise, Moonlighter, Cobra Kai 2, and Atari 50 on Switch. I picked up a bunch of games during the 4 for 40 Gamestop deal. I also got Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Ghostbusters the Game, Ultra Street Fighter, Baba is You, Supee Meat Boy Forever, and a bunch of Wii and Gamecube, with the expensive Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. I forgot to ask if you have a Discord. I post a lot of my findings on there.
Damn I really missed those Ryza reprints from VGP. I had just seen it right before you posted this too haha. Hopefully they do another wave sometime soon for Ryza 1, as I've really wanted to give it a go. Ive also really been reminiscing lately on 3DS games, as you mentioned, and reflecting on last minute pick ups and merch themed from some of my favorite games. As a small update, in the same vein. I've recently descended into figure hell, which Ive always been tempted by from your previous figure videos haha. That said, I got the Bravely Default Tiz and Agnes figures that were recently announced as I couldnt pass them up, haha. I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with NISA. It makes me a little concerned about the limited editions I have ordered as well. Thanks for sharing that story, as I don't feel like we hear enough about their customer service when something does go awry. Regardless, great pick ups video as always! Really got me thinking on what else I may need for the 3DS too haha. I keep saying I'm done, but "they always managed to pull me back in." I thought finishing off my Etrian Odyssey games would be the last of it 😅. Speaking of, if you haven't done so I would make sure you double check all DLC you'd want to grab, as I'm gonna need to spend a day going around to like 8 different games buying some stragglers ahaha. Shit, I wasn't aware of that Best Buy Octopath 2 steelbook. Whelp, "here we go again."
I'm sure VGP will get more Ryza games in stock! And oh no sorry for my bad influence 😂 But those Bravely Default figures are really adorable so well worth diving into the figure collecting rabbit hole for those 😂 I still need to look over my 3DS DLC options as well, including for games that offer free DLC at certain progression points. Unfortunately there are a few titles that require you to beat the game completely before rewarding you with free DLC... I think at this point I'll likely miss most of those (e.g. Dragon Quest VII) but I may try to pursue a couple before the end of March 😅
@orbalology Yeah, all it takes is one or two ahahaha. I can already see it going out of hand. Luckily, they're fairly cheap being pop up parade. They really work for the pop-up parade scale though, and are super cute, haha. I know, it makes it pretty tough, that they aren't just all easily accessible through the eShop. Oh man, I completely forgot about the Dragon Quest VII DLC. Damn, I may need to get going on that if I want to make it in time too 😅 Yeah that really is the trouble with a lot of them, having to make story progression. "FromTheVoid" did a really great series of videos on the eShop closure, including one on every piece of DLC. That video is worth checking out if you haven't seen it.
Sucks about your NISA store debacle. I don't blame you for feeling salty or ranting. I tend to get irrational like that myself and give people the Lily your dead to me look from How I Met Your Mother (If you have any idea what I'm talking about 😂) You did get some fantastic gems especially for Switch. Alot of stuff I'm interested in but I have to wonder with Switch sometimes; when do I stop and what do I continue to shoot for? I recently hugely cutdown my pick ups list from over 150 to 30ish. Also what 3DS games are you unsure of getting? Maybe I can help steer you in the right direction. Finally the new hair cut looks good. Great video as always! ^^
Lol that's a good comparison 😂 The Switch is really a beast of a system and it's so easy to go overboard because of the wide range of offers. I definitely go overboard with it myself 😂 For the 3DS it's mostly just a lot of lesser known titles that are still within obtainable means I keep second guessing myself on. Games like Heroes of Ruin, Jake Hunter, Code Name Steam, Ghost Recon Shadow Wars, Detective Pikachu, Harvest Moon A New Beginning, Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights, Fossil Fighters Frontier... so not exactly top of the line games but some I may or may not want 😅 Along with all the Mario/Luigi games even though I'm not really a Mario person except for some of the 3DS platformer stuff. Though with those I can think a little bit longer on bc I can always settle with the World editions. I imagine those will remain in circulation for awhile. And thanks :)
@@orbalology I think youre probably pretty good to wait on those except the remake Mario and Luigi games, Superstar Saga and Bowser's Inside Story. Theyre great games and their low sales numbers especially in the case Bowser's Inside Story. But even still the DS game is more beloved and it was the best selling game in the series, so there are plenty of copies. Out of all those games you listed I think you would like the Ghost Recon game the best, depending on how much the source material matters for you. It's a great tactical game. Jake Hunter is also really good too, but so many of those games havent been released in the west so IDK how much it matters. The only two games I dont have that you listed are Doctor Laurec and Fossil Fighters. But I've heard not the best things about them. The RPG Monger on youtube did a good look at the whole Fossil Fighter series. That video can do a whole lot better than I to explain why the third game is meh. I hope this helped ^^
Oh no, sorry to hear you ran into trouble with the Square Enix store. I haven't ordered directly through them yet, and dread doing so if they keep doing limited releases like the Pixel Remaster :(
Awesome pickups!!! Blue Reflection is pretty sweet! I'm planning on playing Blue Reflection 2 this year with a bunch of people at the same time haha, including Branden! It would be fun if you got in on that!
I'm not really a collector, I love jrpgs on my ps5 & switch and I really enjoy your videos, somehow you spread your passion for the games and that's fun to watch, that being said it's impossible not to say that you are beautiful.
Definitely grab that Octopath Traveler II Steelbook while you can. It's beautiful, and when it's gone, it's gone. Your hair looks great, by the way. I love the length.
Another enjoyable video and good pickups on your part!! I recently picked up both live a live and triangle strategy and I'm looking forward to when I finally get the chance to play them! Happy friday eve!
Speaking of those Ryza reprints, thanks so much for tweeting about that! I wasn't following VGP so would have missed them otherwise. Now I have 1 and 2 on their way to me 🙂
OMG Emily your hair looks amazing!!! Great video as usual! Sorry to hear about your Liar Prince order, hopefully they will do a restock soon considering how fast it sold out!
Thank you!! And ah yeah the whole Liar Princess situation was unfortunate. I was really taken back by NISA's customer service after having no issue with them in the past 😅
Hi Emily, I'm totally out of topic here... I recently "discovered you" and I saw you're much about this romantic side of gaming, involving jrpgs, Nintendo and portable consoles. Which are the same things I've been loving the most in the last decades (the first game I've ever played was Minestorm on Vectrex). Then I hope you may have more and more viewers/subscribers, cheers from Italy!
Amazing pick ups fire emblem engage is what I have been playing recently! So many great JRPGs to add to your collection. I hope you enjoy all of them!😁
Glad to hear I’m not the only one still hunting for ds titles. I just got my hands on a cib used copy of Chrono Trigger for ds and I couldn’t be happier! That Valkyrie Profile looks interesting. Might check it out later.
Congrats on Professor Layton vs Pheonix Wright 😀 I have recently pre-ordered Blossom Takes 2 from limited Run, Celeste from VGP and Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe (big Kirby can lol)
I feel like limited run had unfortunately realized their main appeal is sealed collectors. I’ve noticed like every single game I pop in my switch from them has an update. Since I live near the retail store though the main appeal for me is browsing the shelf to discover a new game on the shelf ever week and looking at the box to decide if I want to try it. Will see how long that keeps up though, ha.
@@orbalology yeah I get that. I do stand up comedy and I can be in front of a hundred people and I’m fine but talking alone into a camera feels very awkward. I think you are fine and you’ve definitely gotten more natural with more videos.
@@themanboycave122 Oh gosh I'm awful at both lol. But I agree I think I'm slowly getting better after making all these videos which has been very rewarding. It's also cool to hear you do stand up comedy as well!
My pickups this past month we’re primarily 3ds related. Yes of course I did get Engage and am loving it. I doubled up on Tactics Ogre Reborn when I saw the ps5 version go on sale. For 3ds I picked up 3 new units, Fates Edition, a Dual IPS Gray unit, and imported a MH Cross Edition (the red and black cause omg the colors rock me). Games on 3ds I nabbed MH Stories, Kid Icarus Uprising and Metal Gear 3ds. I had a good month now it’s time to slow down until tax season. Ty to all my customers who tipped me so well during the holidays.
I am really glad to have found found your channel and have been watching all your previous videos (with pleasure). I am also a big One Piece fan and have been playing the new game. I like it (I think mostly because I can get the references and enjoy the variations on the older arcs) but I think the combat is bit unbalnced (sometime too easy or too hard). What do you think about the live action version of One Piece that is being made? I have a huge collection of games but never thought of myself as a collector as I only really buy what I'm going to play. I have pre-ordered Atelier Ryza 3 as I have copies of every Atelier since Rorona. I do play a visual novel every now and then. A game I liked that I rarely hear mentioned is Worldend Syndrome.
Oh thanks! I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the videos :) And I'm not too optimistic for the One Piece live action (given how most of these tend to turn out 😅) but I'll probably eventually watch it. And oh I've been hunting for a Switch copy of Worldend Syndrome actually - it seems to be out of print but maybe one day I'll find it haha.
Been trying to get a copy of blue reflection from VGP and I’m assuming they stopped reprints of that game. Literally been looking at their website every day and haven’t seen it get restock yet which is weird because Attack on titan 2 has been restocked so many times despite being more popular.
I think VGP may do another run! I think they mentioned they'll keep ordering as long as there is demand. I recommend following their Twitter account for the latest updates on reprints and when to anticipate sales.
Very nice pickups.. If I collected more modern.. My pickups would be similar, but priorities ^^; I decided to focus on Mystery Roguelike Dungeons.. Torneko PS1/Izuna 1 DS/Shiren DS/Azure Dreams PS1 Dragon Quest.. DQV DS/DQVI DS/DQB2 PS4 Odds.. Luminous Arc/Odin Sphere Stoybook ED/Drakengard 1/Samurai W5/Neptunia Reverse (getting rare on PAL UK), Etrian Odd untold.. Zack 2nd Class PlayArts.. for once SquareEnix Store EU released on time.. was very surprised ^^;;;;; lol I gotta return to modern.. Currently on Trails Zero and Tactics Ogre (both on Chapter 4.. Unplanned XD)
You call that a rant?! That was cute if anything, sorry that happened to you Lol. I'm surprised you had an issue with NIS, they have been pretty solid. As for LRG, yeah I'm officially done with them, besides how they handled their situation recently, I still have pre-orders from 2021 that still haven't shipped yet smh... Anyways great video, hope you get your PS5 soon :)
Ah yeah I guess this is how I rant lol. Ugh preordered since 2021?! They seem to really overextend themselves, especially with new preorder announcements happening every week... And thanks! I hope I can get a PS5 soon as well haha.
Totally agree with you on One Piece Odyssey, seeing the characters in action and the turned based battles and moves is a wonderful feeling. Everyone looks pretty in that game and the creatures is iconic. Funny how we were talking about Ryza and Ryza 2 potentially getting a reprint and it ended up being announced a few days later. I didn’t get my hands on the reprint of Ryza 2 but it gives me hope that it’ll happen again. I’m with you on the LRG situation, I feel that they haven’t had anything exciting in recent months and I’m pretty tired of waiting for eons for their games to ship. I am grateful Shenmue isn’t a super popular series though because I lucked out with that end of the year sale. 😅 I’m wishing you the best when it comes to finishing your Layton collection, it can’t be easy I’m sure. Nice pickup of Nostalgia! I completely forgot I had that game at one point and traded it in regretfully. The whole NIS situation is inexcusable, I would be annoyed if it happened to me as well. You’re justified in feeling upset about it. That’s the kind of experience that would make me want to stay away from a company like that. And yeah, I’d be equally upset when I looked at the poor game too even though it’s innocent. P.S. Loving the haircut, it looks fabulous!
Oh I think there are still Ryza 2 reprints available on VGP! They seem to still be well stocked over there :) The wait for these limited production companies can really be a pain. I'm still on the fence about ordering from First Print Games who are handling Chain of Echoes because I only hear horror stories of 2+ year long waits 😭 And thanks, the hair will take some getting used to but it was nice to have it back to looking healthy again 😂
@@orbalology I may have to jump on it even though I still haven’t made significant progress on Ryza 1. A 2+ year wait?! I thought LRG was bad but First Print has them best from the sounds of it. I think I can relate, I’ve always wanted long hair when I was younger and now that I’m able to have it long I’m afraid of cutting it. At least you didn’t cut too much off, it’ll grow back fast anyways. As for me, who knows how long I have before it gets any thinner. 😰
Going to hold out on the Utowawarerumono stuff since Mask of Deception is too much now. Hopefully they all make it over to Switch some day. Can't really do visual novel stuff on the tv. Definitely more of a lie down in bed kind of thing. Same with srpgs personally.
I've noticed the Mask of Deception increasing in price these last few months which is unfortunate. I agree, these games would be really fitting for the Switch in handheld mode. I'm not sure if these are compatible with the Steam Deck but that could potentially be an option down the line.
i didn't even collect stuff, but i think it's soothing to listen to you while playing something! ^.^ I do think i will try some Fire Emblem. Other thing i wanted to play, but i really don't know where to start is visual novel. One day i and a friend played a very junk one just to laugh, but i know there's good games VN out there. As a melancholic person, i want to find some romance but in a not ''harem/ecchi'' way, i just want a beautiful VN, do you have a favorite one?
My favorite VNs have so far been more of the crime/thriller genre. But I've been accumulating a large stack so I'm hoping to dive more into them this year. One I'm looking to get to first is The House in Fata Morgana, which may also interest you as well based on what I've heard about it :)
I am also winding down my 3DS buying (still looking to get the launch editions of Etrian Odyssey Untold, and IV cause I'm crazy lol) but now I've now shifted my attention to getting the PS2 Atelier games. I hope you enjoy Fatal Twelve, it was pretty good if you are looking for another visual novel check out Raging Loop if you don't have it already.
I too was seduced by the Octo 2 steelbook, it looks really nice. I believe its an Amazon exclusive here in the UK which is who I pre ordered it from. Picking up on your comment about Valkyrie Elysium, I played it last year and really enjoyed it. It was my first game in the series and I had no expectations. I thought it did what it set out to do really well. The combat was super fun snd the main character has a bit of sass about her 😄.
Oh I'm glad to hear Valkyrie Elysium was a positive experience! I've been waiting for the PS5 version to drop a little more in price before picking it up, I'm always there for a sassy lead character :)
Thanks Joe! I have similar regrets regarding Etrain Odyssey Nexus - I got it for $28 on Amazon a year after it's launch and sold it because I wasn't sure how I felt about trying a first person dungeon crawler at the time. Poor decision on my part too 😅
The best thing about handheld games is: because they have their own screens, they hold up better with time. Home console games look basic if you have an average television, and look premium if you have the latest set. That being said, does this result in consumers feeling like they're getting half of a game, or two games in one? For example: if 'Layton Vs. Wright' was to be played on a 2DS instead of a 3DS nobody would care because most people who played on a 3DS admitted to usually having the effect slider off, but on the other hand, given that those two DS games were from an earlier platform, if those DS games were played on a 2DS or 3DS opposed to a DS Lite people would care because they didn't look worst compared to the original DS hardware. Which brings us full circle, is 'Layton Vs. Wright' half a game if you play it on a 2DS and two games in one if you never played either title on the DS? or are those two DS games: two full games to a 2DS owner and two halves of a game to a 3DS owner?
I've been known to double dip at times 😅 Mostly with favorite franchises like Kiseki or if something say gets a port/remaster on the Switch that portability factor can win me over for JPRGs 😅
I've heard good things about the PS2 game! I think it's regarded more highly than the DS title but Covenant of the Plume seems to have some interesting mechanics to offer for a handheld JRPG.
I'm glad to hear it's fun! Some of these budget JRPGs can be rather hit or miss, but I hear this one has some fairly good humor which is usually enough for me 😂 And I've heard a lot of people making Danganronpa comparison with Fatal Twelve - so definitely something to look into!
Thanks for talking about the NIS experience, even though we do not expect errors to happen, companies should be ready to solve them taking the customer into account not just the quick refund and run. It is amazing that you get a copy of professor Layton VS Phoenix, I only see the japan import on Amazon :(
Yeah I figured it was worth talking about the experience for a company that normally has a pretty good reputation. Shows that bad customer service can happen anywhere unfortunately. The prices for PL vs. PW have been getting insane. I grabbed this one for a decent price but it was still expensive 🙈
Thank you! And yeah I hope my upcoming pre-orders don't have any issues. I'll probably continue being salty for awhile & would dread to go through customer service with them again 😅
I bought this on videogamesplus.ca website. They've been reprinting a lot of PS4 and Switch games recently, especially from Koei Tecmo. I recommend following their twitter account to be up-to-date with their reprint releases.
I've been having my own problems with NIS America as well. Their online store offers a bundle deal for Hanasaku Iroha. You can get the complete anime for 70 bucks, but their online store won't allow me to check out. If I place the 3 individual items in my cart I CAN check out, but then the price is like 10 bucks more. I've been trying to complete this order since about early March. I sent an email requesting help about this more than a month ago and they've not gotten back to me. I sent another email about a week ago and they haven't responded to that either. While typing I decided to try again, and my order finally went through! Still, my complaint stands. I had no communication from NIS for months and there is definitely something f'd up about their online store. Even though my order eventually went through they still have a notice across the top of the screen informing people they are experiencing high support ticket volume.
That’s unfortunate that you had to go through all that customer service bs! I don’t blame you for being salty still! I would be to! As for current pickup(s)..I was finally able to snag me the millennium collection of parasite eve for the Japanese playstation! 🤩 great vid as always orbal!
Hope you enjoy Fairy Fencer. Sure, it's more of a budget title and there are weird points where you have to grind a bit to progress the story, but the character interactions are hilarious and you'll love Fang's sarcasm, plus who doesn't like great character transformation theme songs.
I played Nostalgia yeaaaars ago on an flashcard and can't remember much about it other than liking it enough to actually import it a few years later (which was really expensive). And liking it way more than any FF game on the DS.
Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of The Plume is actually a really expensive game over here in Europe, going for around $100 complete so $30 is such a great deal!
Oh that's interesting! Well, it's great that the DS is region free so if anyone in the EU is looking for a brand new affordable copy they know where to look now :)
I am interested in One Piece Odyssey but I don't collect a ton for PS4/5 only games I really really like so I'll get it on my steam deck at a big discount if I do pick it up eventually. Wow that witch on the holy night box is gorgeous! I can't wait to get my copy from VGP. I also grabbed Attack on Titan 2 switch version, Fate Extella Link ( I have Umbral Star on Vita) and Blue Reflection PS4 from VGP.
Oh you got lots of great VGP pickups too! They should be a good alternative to LRG if you don't want to preorder well in advance. And I imagine One Piece Odyssey will start to get discounted on all platforms in the next 6 months, seems to be the trend with these sort of releases 😅
Have a love/hate relationship with limited run games. They have the games I want but the waits without production updates is though and my wallet cries from the mark-up in prices when I see the same games listed in the e-shop 👀 My worst experience though wasn't with them but with strictly limited with their Turrican Anthology collectors edition. Spent $130 on it for the Pre-order and waited 2 and a half years and then seeing the standard versions of the Anthology in local game shops months before my collectors edition came in 😐😑😅
Oh no 2.5 years is so long 😭 It really is frustrating when you see the retail version hit stores before the limited production company editions release :(
I feel like my experience was a bit of an anomaly (or so I hope). I haven't heard of any others receiving the wrong platform for a collector edition but hopefully this isn't the new norm with them :/
The Attack on Titan game is such a solid rendition of the anime/manga! I played it on switch, PC, and PSVita and surprisingly plays well on all 3 devices. The Vita of course you need to use a patch and a hacked Vita, but honestly great all around. My niece convinced me to get the upgraded version with all the add-ons, definitely didn't regret it!
I used to be big in to switch collecting than I just stopped one day and haven't used my switch in months. I just lost the passion for collecting for it than got back into retro collecting but even that I have to force myself to collect or even play anything anymore.
I haven't seen any indicators for the PS4 boxes, though I haven't done enough research to verify myself. I know people were closely comparing the Blue Reflection boxes and didn't notice any difference between the original release and reprints. So it's likely the same for Ryza 2.
I'm actual playing Fairy fencer right now its ok its not to bad but not to great either. I am also currently playing Attack on Titan I beat the main story that covers all of season 1 and 2. Im playing the expansion that covers season 3. Sorry about the NIS America stuff I've only ever ordered Ys 9.
Haha yeah I figured Fairy Fencer F isn't the greatest JRPG out there, but hopefully you'll find some enjoyment out of it during your playthrough. Those budget JRPGs sometimes hit a certain sweet spot with me where I know it's not that great but something about it is still charming lol.
Layton vs Phoenix Wright is expensive these days! Glad I got mine when it was 30 bucks lol. I love the 3ds split screen though. I think it will be hard to Port these to the future consoles.
NIS used to be a PIA to deal with, I'm talking back like 2006/07- 2013 the beginnng of their online sales of published merchandise, I wont even get started on the PS2 game limited edition I ordered online from them like 14 or 15 years ago
Goddamn, even the Fates special edition? Where'd you managed to get that without selling your kidney? Haha
@@ianp5367 don’t get the false impression that I didn’t sell a kidney. I did. But I justified it by thinking about how it would only get even more expensive and it was the single piece I wanted more than any other one! Lol
@MostlyRed That's a fair point, definitely a holy grail item. Meanwhile, I'm chillin' with my own holy grail, dual IPS Fire Emblem Fates 3DS. 🙏
I have been able to get most of them. I also have all the amiibo. I love fire emblem. And engage is amazing
Love the box set as well.
My pleasure, it was a good review! 😊
I'm actually in a weird moving hiatus situation for work so I don't have my collection set up atm 😅 But after I officially move I'll likely post a lot of collection room themed videos :)
i love you
This series is quickly becoming a favorite of mine on this platform!
I like the addition of b-roll, it adds a lot to your videos. Love what you’re doing on here!
Thanks! Haha, I mostly added the b-roll because while filming I didn't realize I was holding my games out of frame but I like how it turned out too :)
The more VN localizations we get over here the better 😄
Oh I'm glad to hear you're a Utawareumono fan! So many amazing things have been said about this series so I'm really looking forward to seeing how they turn out :)
@@orbalology I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts when you get around to it!
Awesome pickups! I also got Witch on the Holy night and FE Engage! Both have been really great so far :D
I'm glad to hear you're enjoying both of those too! I'm almost finished with Engage so hoping to get to Witch on the Holy Night soon :)
It'll be cool if Nintendo releases it soon but I agree I'm less hyped for it compared to last year unfortunately.
oof, sorry about your NIS situation! i was also pretty upset about the liar princess and the blind prince situation, but even after you successfully ordered it, you still had to deal with that 😭
Ugh it was really disappointing but I'm sorry to hear you missed out on a copy too 😭
What was the Liar Princess and the Blind Prince situation? I have the collector's edition but just couldn't get into it... seems like it's selling fairly well on eBay now. I have only ever gotten rid of one video game I've owned (Super Paper Mario on the Wii, which was just terrible, IMO) but this is another one I may just sell off...
LOL never mind... just got to that part of the video. I need to stop responding before I finish watching. 😓
Ugh... my biggest pet peeve was ATLUS with Shin Megami Tensei V... they said specifically that it would sell at a specific time on a specific date, and I even took the day off work to make sure I got a copy.
I saw a lot of hype around OP odyssey , but after the release, nobody talked about it😅 I hope you can do some sort of review after playing it, once you get your PS5 (I’m glad you’re getting one!) I haven’t bought a single game there, been playing Ps plus games I missed during the PS4 era, tho 😢
I would’ve done the same with Professor Layton and phoenix wright, that game is a rare one, If you got a good deal on it. It was a no-brainer 😅
I usually don’t have a lot of faith in anime games, they don’t tend to exploit their potential.
My recent pick ups are
Persona 4 golden
Gravity rush (PS Vita)
Pokémon scarlet
I still need to get my hands on P5R, but since P4G is usually harder to find, I just took it right away 😅😅
I'm still annoyed at the NISA situation, probably won't get over it for awhile because I tend to hold onto grudges 😅
And I'm glad to hear you scooped up some Vita games, and hope you enjoy Pokemon Scarlet!
I was curious how it looks like when you are angry because you always smile and are so nice and polite. That was funny, your rant, it was a rare occasion to see you mad about something. 😉
Haha yeah this NISA saga was more frustrating than it should have been. I'm not one to get angered to easily but this left a bad taste in the mouth 😅
I have been kicking myself about not pre-ordering Crisis Core because of that steelbook, so you make a good argument 😂
Thanks! Yeah NISA may do more reprints, it was so weird they really limited those :(
The DS has been really enjoyable to collect for!
I've probably picked up too many games again this past month.
Very cool pickups this month! Bummer about the NIS mix up, but the rant was pretty funny 🤣.
Ah yeah, it takes a lot to get me worked up so this was I guess a rather mild rant 😂
And oh no sorry for my bad influence 😂 But those Bravely Default figures are really adorable so well worth diving into the figure collecting rabbit hole for those 😂
I still need to look over my 3DS DLC options as well, including for games that offer free DLC at certain progression points.
Oh cool, I'll have to check their video out. Thanks!
I watched Just the Gems video on blue reflection and it totally convinced me to pick it up!
His video was great, and glad to hear the video helped you with your decision :)
You are the best! Thank you for these videos
Thanks for watching :)
Sucks about your NISA store debacle. I don't blame you for feeling salty or ranting. I tend to get irrational like that myself and give people the Lily your dead to me look from How I Met Your Mother (If you have any idea what I'm talking about 😂)
You did get some fantastic gems especially for Switch.
I definitely go overboard with it myself 😂
For the 3DS it's mostly just a lot of lesser known titles that are still within obtainable means I keep second guessing myself on.
This helps! Thank you! :)
Your NISA situation sounds almost exactly like my Squarenix Store experience regarding the Tactics Ogre steelbook pre-order.
Thanks! Oh I may have to join you guys 👀 I guess I need to hurry up and finish this first game lol.
Hey Emily!
I'm so stoked to hear you're a OP fan; your good taste just keeps getting better
Aww thanks! Haha. It's always nice to find other One Piece fans on here :)
I'm not really a collector, I love jrpgs on my ps5 & switch and I really enjoy your videos, somehow you spread your passion for the games and that's fun to watch, that being said it's impossible not to say that you are beautiful.
Your channel is my fav on youtube!
😊
Definitely grab that Octopath Traveler II Steelbook while you can. It's beautiful, and when it's gone, it's gone. Your hair looks great, by the way. I love the length.
It's so pretty! I'm at like 85% about getting it rn, so I'll probably cave lol. And thanks!
Another enjoyable video and good pickups on your part!! I recently picked up both live a live and triangle strategy and I'm looking forward to when I finally get the chance to play them! Happy friday eve!
I hope you enjoy them! I've been meaning to pickup Live A Live one of these days as well :)
Speaking of those Ryza reprints, thanks so much for tweeting about that! I wasn't following VGP so would have missed them otherwise. Now I have 1 and 2 on their way to me 🙂
Oh I'm glad to hear you were able to snag those! The games are really great, hope you enjoy them :)
I'm here for the rant! 😳
Hopefully it didn't disappoint 😅
Gotta love getting new games!
Haha, it's always an exciting time :)
Great pickups Emily, and love your new hair! ^^
Thanks Milla! :)
Thanks, I'm glad to hear we share similar sentiments about gaming :)
Amazing pick ups fire emblem engage is what I have been playing recently! So many great JRPGs to add to your collection. I hope you enjoy all of them!😁
Thanks! Fire Emblem Engage is so good :)
Glad to hear I’m not the only one still hunting for ds titles. I just got my hands on a cib used copy of Chrono Trigger for ds and I couldn’t be happier! That Valkyrie Profile looks interesting. Might check it out later.
Nice! I'm glad you were able to get Chrono Trigger. I've been considering picking up a copy myself sometime soon :)
Omg your NIS rant was so polite..NIS should just give you the game looking at this 😂😂
lol I'm sure this isn't even on their radar 😅
Congrats on Professor Layton vs Pheonix Wright 😀
I have recently pre-ordered Blossom Takes 2 from limited Run, Celeste from VGP and Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe (big Kirby can lol)
Oh exciting! I've been eyeing Blossom Tales 2 & Celeste as well! I've just been delaying preordering 😅
Oof, I think you may be right about the sealed collector thing 😬
Emily needs to run NISA to clean up those messes! Nice pickups as well 🤟
Thank you! 😄
Great pick ups as usual. Your editing for the video is great.
Thank you! Haha, the video editing helps disguise some of my awkwardness. Which I'm thankful for 😂
@@orbalology yeah I get that.
I spent a lot on eBay for Blue Reflection because I heard it had a Sailor Moon vibe
Yeah it has a magical girl vibe :)
Oh a very nice haul! Those 3DS models are beautiful. Very jealous about the Fates special edition especially :)
@@orbalology I had it when it released and stupidly sold it, I had to get it back, only lost about $50 in the mistake overall
Great pickups! .Im trying to get into jrpgs more as I own a lot of unplayed ones lol. Great video as always!
Oh sorry to hear you have a lot of unplayable ones. I hope you can find something in the genre that vibes with you! And thanks :)
Jeez that customer service was really bad, I've never had to ask them for that but boy seems rough. Nice pickups though! :D
Yeah this was one of the most incompetent customer service experiences I've had in awhile. And thanks :)
Oh thanks! I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the videos :)
And I'm not too optimistic for the One Piece live action (given how most of these tend to turn out 😅) but I'll probably eventually watch it. And oh I've been hunting for a Switch copy of Worldend Syndrome actually - it seems to be out of print but maybe one day I'll find it haha.
@@orbalology There is supposed to be a sequel coming called World End Phenomenon, so maybe they will re-issue the first one soon.
@@orbalology will keep that in mind, thank you
Very nice pickups..
If I collected more modern.. My pickups would be similar, but priorities ^^;
I decided to focus on Mystery Roguelike Dungeons.. Torneko PS1/Izuna 1 DS/Shiren DS/Azure Dreams PS1
Dragon Quest.. DQV DS/DQVI DS/DQB2 PS4
Odds.. Luminous Arc/Odin Sphere Stoybook ED/Drakengard 1/Samurai W5/Neptunia Reverse (getting rare on PAL UK), Etrian Odd untold..
Zack 2nd Class PlayArts.. for once SquareEnix Store EU released on time.. was very surprised ^^;;;;; lol
I gotta return to modern.. Currently on Trails Zero and Tactics Ogre (both on Chapter 4.. Unplanned XD)
I feel you! It's hard to balance modern and older game pickups 😅 You were able to get a lot of interesting finds regardless!
I’m wishing you the best when it comes to finishing your Layton collection, it can’t be easy I’m sure.
They seem to still be well stocked over there :)
The wait for these limited production companies can really be a pain. I'm still on the fence about ordering from First Print Games who are handling Chain of Echoes because I only hear horror stories of 2+ year long waits 😭
And thanks, the hair will take some getting used to but it was nice to have it back to looking healthy again 😂
...and now I have to buy Fatal Twelve! Great video, Emily!
Oh you may like Fatal Twelve! Have you played the Danganronpa games before?
@@orbalology adored them!
@@ColdNightsGaming Oh then this may be perfect! :)
I do think i will try some Fire Emblem.
@@orbalology Ahhh! Thanks!! I will look for it. The art is very Castlevania-ish, very pretty game!
Oh Raging Loop is one on my list! I've just been waiting for a good price on the aftermarket since the Switch copies seem to be out of stock now 😅
I too was seduced by the Octo 2 steelbook, it looks really nice.
Great month! Good score with the prof Layton Phoenix game. I had it but foolishly traded it in years ago 😭😭🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Thanks Joe! I have similar regrets regarding Etrain Odyssey Nexus - I got it for $28 on Amazon a year after it's launch and sold it because I wasn't sure how I felt about trying a first person dungeon crawler at the time. Poor decision on my part too 😅
@@orbalology 😂😂😂yeah live and learn haha i think that and super princess peach are my last true “wants” for the ds
Love your videos. Do you buy the same games on different consoles?
I've been known to double dip at times 😅 Mostly with favorite franchises like Kiseki or if something say gets a port/remaster on the Switch that portability factor can win me over for JPRGs 😅
Valkyrie Profile for DS looks interesting! I have Valkyrie Profile 2 Silmeria for PS2.
I've heard good things about the PS2 game! I think it's regarded more highly than the DS title but Covenant of the Plume seems to have some interesting mechanics to offer for a handheld JRPG.
Haven’t watched your video yet…but I can’t wait once I get home 💯
😊
Fairy fencer f actually looked pretty fun.
Oh and fatal twelve I've never heard of. But you saying It is similar to danganronpa had my interest
It is amazing that you get a copy of professor Layton VS Phoenix, I only see the japan import on Amazon
:(
Yeah I figured it was worth talking about the experience for a company that normally has a pretty good reputation. Shows that bad customer service can happen anywhere unfortunately.
The prices for PL vs. PW have been getting insane. I grabbed this one for a decent price but it was still expensive 🙈
really enjoyed your video. I hope that NISA can redeem themselves for you with your other orders. I would be salty too.
Thank you! And yeah I hope my upcoming pre-orders don't have any issues. I'll probably continue being salty for awhile & would dread to go through customer service with them again 😅
Miss Em where did you buy the attack on Titan?! I've been looking for that game on the cheap!
Oh exciting!! Hope you enjoy that collection, it's cool that it comes with a perfume bottle :)
1. Love your eyes.
2. What job do you have to get all these games?! I’m going broke back logging games. Haha
Not sure if you've shown this another video, but I'm really curious how you store your collection.
I showed a photo of my temporary shelves in my 5k Q&A video. I'm in-between moving so I haven't really invested in a setup.
Those are some cool games you picked up. :) Hope January went great for you, Emily. My birthday is tomorrow btw.
Oh happy early birthday! Hope you have a fantastic day tomorrow 😊
Thank you, Emily! ❤
Fire Emblem Engage is sooo good. im currently at 85 hours in on Maddening run at chapter 18
Oh you're stronger than me to play through Maddening! I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it :)
At least your 3DS collection can never be taken away. At thrift stores I snatched up tons of PS2 games.
Hope you enjoy Fairy Fencer. Sure, it's more of a budget title and there are weird points where you have to grind a bit to progress the story, but the character interactions are hilarious and you'll love Fang's sarcasm, plus who doesn't like great character transformation theme songs.
These low budget JRPGs hit a certain sweet spot for me, especially the silly humor. So I have a feeling I'll enjoy it 😂
I hope you get your ps5 soon! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I'm hoping to have one soon, maybe within the next month or so :)
I ha e the same problem with limited run... which sucks because they are a great place to get kemco rpgs, my guilty pleasure...
I played Nostalgia yeaaaars ago on an flashcard and can't remember much about it other than liking it enough to actually import it a few years later (which was really expensive).
And liking it way more than any FF game on the DS.
Oh good to hear! I'll admit it was mostly the airships that drew me into this title but I'm looking forward to testing it out :)
Also I have started getting my LRG games from VGP they seem to get them a month or two after they ship out preorders.
Oh you got lots of great VGP pickups too! They should be a good alternative to LRG if you don't want to preorder well in advance.
And I imagine One Piece Odyssey will start to get discounted on all platforms in the next 6 months, seems to be the trend with these sort of releases 😅
I really like this series even though I don't even collect lol, I just find these updates very cosy for some reason :D
I'm glad to hear you enjoy these 😁
Have a love/hate relationship with limited run games. They have the games I want but the waits without production updates is though and my wallet cries from the mark-up in prices when I see the same games listed in the e-shop 👀
My worst experience though wasn't with them but with strictly limited with their Turrican Anthology collectors edition. Spent $130 on it for the Pre-order and waited 2 and a half years and then seeing the standard versions of the Anthology in local game shops months before my collectors edition came in 😐😑😅
Oh no 2.5 years is so long 😭 It really is frustrating when you see the retail version hit stores before the limited production company editions release :(
Video games plus just announced a reprint of the switch version of the Liar Princess and Blind Prince. It's cheaper than buying it from NIS
I’m sorry you had to go through that with NISA, now I’m worry with my ryza 3 preorder with NISA
I feel like my experience was a bit of an anomaly (or so I hope). I haven't heard of any others receiving the wrong platform for a collector edition but hopefully this isn't the new norm with them :/
Playing blue reflection and having fun with the magical girls. The spelling errors are actually pretty funny for some reason.
Oh I didn't realize it was riddled with misspellings lol. Glad to hear you're enjoying it, I'm hoping to get to it sometime this year!
Oh good to know, I look forward to trying it out!
I used to be big in to switch collecting than I just stopped one day and haven't used my switch in months. I just lost the passion for collecting for it than got back into retro collecting but even that I have to force myself to collect or even play anything anymore.
I had no idea GameStop did a steelbook for one piece odyssey. Cannot wait to grab it. Turn based rpg for my favorite anime is a dream come true!
I hope you are able to grab it for a reasonable price! The steelbook turned out really great :)
Is there a way to tell the difference between Playstation games and reprints? Specifically Atelier Ryza 2?
I haven't seen any indicators for the PS4 boxes, though I haven't done enough research to verify myself. I know people were closely comparing the Blue Reflection boxes and didn't notice any difference between the original release and reprints. So it's likely the same for Ryza 2.
Before I watch the video, just wanna say the haircut looks lovely!
Thank you :)
I wish I was hunting for these Layton & Phoenix titles around when it originally released. But oh well 😅
6:40 Messy controversy?
Those are some "Serious recent game pickups"! LOL 🥵🔥🔥🔥🔥😆
😂
Let’s see, they’re all Switch versions
I got: (Bayonetta 3, Fire Emblem engage, and binding of Isaac) all physical on January
Very nice! The Switch is one I seem to always pick up games for every month 😂
video games plus has been coming out with so many reprints I can't keep up with them!
Agreed! It's been difficult for me too 😂
I remember picking up nostalgia up for 5 dollars years before the boom in its price
NIS used to be a PIA to deal with, I'm talking back like 2006/07- 2013 the beginnng of their online sales of published merchandise, I wont even get started on the PS2 game limited edition I ordered online from them like 14 or 15 years ago
Oof, online customer service was often terrible back in those days. So I can imagine!
