    First, just gotta say night city in the rain looks amazing regardless of which filter, nice job! Great comparison Adam, that snowmist would be great for a dream sequence, black mist looks like it was worth the wait, and even no filter looks great! If I had to pick, I would say dji black mist for the right location and conditions! I had to watch in low res, cant wait to rewatch this in 4k on the laptop!

    Both those filters i think are their best first thing in the morning, fog or mist, and evening in ambient light as you just have shown . Normal daylight , not so good . The black mist filter i prefer. For me personally i think it looks better under lights . Thanks for the video.

    I would say overall the differences are pretty subtle but I do like how the black mist filter blooms lights at night. Your skin does have a bit softer look with the black mist filter. It's a hard call for whether I'd get the black mist filter. I'll have to think about it some more. Thanks for the great video!

    Yeah, the black mist looks like it edges out the snow mist in those night shots. Every time you post a new Pocket 3 video, I know it's going to be one more check mark on the pros side of the list encouraging me to buy one. I sure could have used one for my most recent vlog. My Action 4 did an admirable job on the night shots, but a Pocket 3 would have given me the results I wanted.

    i use an after effects plugin to get the black pro mist look. With the lens, its baked into your footage so no going back if you don't like the outcome but with a plugin you not only get to replicate the look but control the intensity etc..

    • @TravelingAhn
      @TravelingAhn  5 месяцев назад +1

      Oh yeah, I’ve heard about this! Thanks for the tip! But after effects has a monthly fee right? I really liked premiere pro but couldn’t stomach the monthly fees! I wonder if there is a Final Cut Pro plug-in 🤔

    • @CGI-Space
      @CGI-Space 5 месяцев назад

      @@TravelingAhn
      Yes, the monthly subscription fees isnt ideal for After Effects.
      About the plugin - Dehancer, there is a final cut pro version.
      The way i see it is that it acts as a film colour grading editor. Have the ability to get the snow/black/white mist filter and it has the halation feature which makes the lights in your video clips glow. And the fact that you are able to control the intensity. And not to forget, you wont have to buy these types of filters for each and every camera you own.

    Hello, how do you stack ND8 and SMist filters together?
    I also have a set of Freewell ND filters, and I have tried stacking LPR and SMist filters together.
    However, due to the magnet configuration, LPR and SMist filters can only be stacked with ND1000, and not with other filters.
    I'm not sure if this is an issue with the filter set I have.

    • @TravelingAhn
      @TravelingAhn  5 месяцев назад

      Regarding the Freewell filters, the only non-stackable filters are the Circular polarized round filters. The Snow Mist filter is stackable on the regular ND Filters as well as the LPR. In addition,, the DJI branded Black Mist Filter is compatible with the standard Freewell ND Filters

    Every time you post, I get that feeling like running into a friend while you're out and about and not expecting it, even though I know you're going to post a couple times a week. The snow mist has white flakes in it as opposed to the black flakes in black mist filters. The snow mist seems like it's washing out the colors a bit in addition to softening the image, which is essentially reducing the contrast as advertised, but I think it might be too much. I'm curious if it would look better with "normal" color mode. I have the K&F Concept 1/4 Black diffusion filter and I'm curious how it would look in comparison to the others, but not enough to purchase them. The effect is so subtle on the face I often don't even bother to put it on. I think its best use case would be for cinematic night shots where you want that bloom in the lights. I'm thinking maybe like holiday lights, enhancing a foggy, rainy, gloomy scene, or one of those foggy sunrises for me personally. I might put it on just for fun for a vlog or two, but they are such a pain especially when the gimbal closes with the filter on and you have to shimmy it out. This happens most often with the K&F filter for me because I think the magnet strength on it is so weak that when the gimbal closes, it moves to the side and doesn't stop it from closing.

      Hey Tim, my friend 😀...I felt the same way when you did your BBQ vlog! Noticed I used -2 on Noise Reduction?! Yeah, I think 🤔 your feedback is spot-on with the use cases regarding mist filters. But, I've only had that issue of closing with the filter still on once. Definitely can be annoying! I always worry that my filter is going to drop into a storm drain when I take them off 😂 I suppose that's the bad thing of living in an urban environment!

    • @TimBrownTown
      @TimBrownTown 5 месяцев назад

      @@TravelingAhn I did notice that, just forgot to comment about it when I started writing! I think it's the way to go. I mean, if you don't see noise then there's no need to reduce it, right? I did see some slight noise indoors in the last scene with Parker in my video so I may do a little more testing with it. As far as dropping them, scratching them, etc. I'm worried anywhere I'm at. They also bring out my type-a personality because now I have three surfaces to make sure are smudge, dust and lint free. If I stack them, it's 5 surfaces and I know I'd be searching for that one piece of lint caught between them!
