At about 5:25 AM reports of flames showing from a passer by were reported, first due engine and officers quickly upgraded this massive blaze to a 2 Alarm fire and then the rest is history. My arrival time on scene was 9:00AM where most of the visible flames were knocked down but still had heavy deep seated fire consuming the whole buildings. Crews made a great knock on the exposure building while not letting it spread to the whole block. You'll see FDNY boats supply engine companies with water. Also The Neptune System & Kinder Morgan quick attack engines + their pump arriving on scene.
The Neptune Pumping System is a single, integrated, diesel powered mobile pumping module capable of pumping up to 5,000 gpm at 150 psi discharge pressure. The Neptune utilizes two hydraulically driven, floating satellite supply pumps to provide water to a main pump mounted on the module. The satellite pumps are stored in the rear of the module for transport but can be located at distances up to 150 ft from the main pump when deployed. In addition, the floating supply pumps can provide up to 50 ft of vertical lift. This operational functionality increases tactical flexibility of pumping operations in two primary areas.
The Neptune Pump design also permits the floating submersible pumps to be operated independently of the Neptune module. This capability allows the pumps to supply water directly to devices other than Neptune. The main pump, powered by a direct drive diesel engine, can deliver 5000 gpm of water at a discharge pressure of 150 psi for fire fighting support or water transfer.
I did contract work in those building for many years. They are almost all wood construction and most of them were loaded to the roof with every type of merchandise imaginable. Everything packed in cardboard boxes. I went through buildings like this and always marveled as to how they lasted so long.
This made international news. It was kind of cool being in my house outside of London seeing this on BBC news, as we were walking out to door to fly to Newark 😂.
Smoke on the Water, Fire in the Sky.....Incredible job by all the first responders at this fire!!!!!!
Awww man. I was hoping to see the Kinder Morgan setup and run. Iron Man. WOW that must put out tons of water.
As a retired volunteer Firefighter Photographer, I carried batteries that would last for your average structure fire. It was cold during this fire and he could have exaulted all of his batteries? Agree, would have been cool! The workers in the Kinder Morgan trucks didn't seem too excited about going to work.
I believe the long 3 story set of buildings used to be the Singer sewing machine factory. It has been used by many different companies as warehouse and small manufacturing space. I used to go in there for a company that made transformers for power supplies. Lots of scary stairwells and freight elevators.
The entire complex was Singer back in the day. Employed over 8,000 people in its heyday
You were closer than the news bud..great job
Nice work. Those big deck guns, some in Kinder Morgan white trucks followed by red IMTT trucks with the "Iron Man" gun, those are both energy related infrastructure companies. Kinder Morgan operates infrastructure for refineries and such and IMTT doing fuel farms and such.
Great footage he did really really good. This is a fire of a of a lifetime for any individual.
Thank you for the coverage
You did an awesome job on this fire! Proud of you man!
Seeing the fireboats was cool!
great coverage of this large scene
TOP SHELF VID BROTHER ! RARE APPERATIS CATCH ,BLEW ME AWAY ! "DIGG ITT ! 🇺🇲
Awesome video. Great job...🤗🤗
Good to see you 25 inch line up to an engine. Love it. We did it once only.
thank you for filming
Great footage brotha!
Great footage stay safe
man, what a way to start out the New Year!
That burned all day. Big fire.
Great video
Thanks!
19:11. Did you get any video of them using that system? Would love to see that. Any idea of the gpms it flows. If I was to take a guess would say 3000 gpm plus. Maybe as much as 5000 gpms.
from what I have read and seen in videos they can flow 5000 up to 21000 gallons per minute. Not sure if there are bigger but imagine 21000 gallons per minute. The average backyard 15' by 4' deep swimming pool has about 4450 gallons so it flows almost 4 full swimming pools water a minute. New meaning for surround and drown.
Nice coverage
In Germany, ATF has a very different meaning than in the USA. In Germany, ATF stands for Analytical Task Force. The ATF is equipped with highly specialized measurement and analysis technology, which is also used in chemical laboratories. The ATF supports the operational management with qualified analyses of unknown substances and mixtures. Let's go to the pump at 16:35. Something similar was available as a vehicle from 1965 to 1982 at the FDNY. Called himself FDNY Super Pumper. The central pumping unit of the Super Pumper can draw water from eight hydrants at once and flow over 10,000 gallons per minute at low pressures. At higher pressures of 350 psi, it could move 8,800 gpm. At one fire, it single handedly supplied water to the Super Tender, the three Satellite Tenders, two ladder trucks, and a portable hose manifold with multiple handlines.
It was a video I saw lots of smoke there hope no one got hurt.
Firefighters, well, I don’t know about the air engines, but we could pump and pressure or volume. Sometimes on big fires we were in pressure needed to switch over to volume. Just my thoughts.
Insane hose size!
Taking a guess that the iron man does 3-5000 gpms. Love to see that in action
12 inch large diameter hose i believe
What a charming rundown industrial zone. Would make a great set for a movie about the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Or maybe a movie of the collapsing infrastructure of the United States since that’s where it is?
@@Paul-mu8en Indeed. The embarrassing thing is that the United States has allowed its infrastructure to decay to the point where in places it reminds one of the old USSR. Far from everywhere, there are plenty of bright spots, but still . . . .
Iron Man!! Oh well. Looks like he'd quash anything in it's sight.
Good job to the Fire Department!
At 1.25 what an incredible brick building.watch it i have seen 100s of these burn down,
Is there any footage of the large massive, gigantic, portable pumps pumping? :-)
Huge fire
I was looking through background video, didn't c a command post, I would hope there was one, did u c a CP, if so where was it located? Thanks
do you have a rundown of the units?
Bitchin portable pump for sure
why was the bullhead city. kingman. & lake havasu citys fire department not called out to help. and phoenix too.
What was in those mill originally ?
That place made sewing machines
Did they use the big water pumps?
I would like to see that in action
Where's Part 2 with the big water flowing?
what is neptune pumping system? first i have heard it and kinder morgan is that like a private fire fighting company?
Industrial fire department
And I heard the Neptune flow for a little bit
Is that the Raritan Bay
Is it true? The last song heard from inside was Stuck in the Middle With You. Mr. Blonde was seen leaving the building.
The ATF? Why were they there? Do they know what caused the fire?
They brought in some shitt for this one Super pumper system
*sniff*
Show the rest of the pump! Wtf? U just teasing people. Did they use it or not?
I don’t think it was in operation for long from what I overheard
Jesus, that initial dispatcher has a mouth full of marbles and wins the award for speed talking. Slow down and speak clearly!
I have seen some of the press conferences on this industrial fire and I think the wrong questions were raised of officials. I managed three buildings in NJ and it is amazing how officials did not have any information. My Questions: Did buildings have operable sprinkler systems and annual inspections, smoke and fire detection alarms? How about RTK (Right-To- Know) annual reporting, a State requirement to have documented location of stored hazardous materials and possible explosive cylinder tanks with-in buildings? This RTK is to have been reported annually to Federal, State and local city fire departments. What about building inspections? They seem to be all missing here. They did not even know the names of the companies affected by this fire. That fire got out of control very quickly in a short time. A lot of questions should be raised regarding that. Just a blessing no lives were lost in this fire. Maybe it is time to increase inspections of other building in the areas.
I am in Missouri from afar, I wondered if any buildings had homeless trying to keep warm?
@@grayfamoutdoors1759 That is not out of the question. Thank you.
Well as you hear in the beginning it was 2nd alarm on arrival
The building was also built in the late 1800s many of the fire codes and laws are not enforced on these structures due to them being grandfathered in (stupid imo but got it works)
