- OC - Toms River - 37 W & GSP - Crash with Fire
Around 1:15 PM 11/7 Toms River Fire Department got a reported car fire on Route 37 W & Parkway. The first arriving Chief confirmed the crash and active car fire. 2671 was first due and stretched the trash line to the car. No injuries were reported and everyone got out ok. The cause of the fire is most likey due to the crash. No further info is available ATT.

And hey, they only needed one truck and there were no injuries. I’d call this a pretty good job done by them.

I can see both sides. Staying on that side offers a little more protection for the guys on the nozzle, since the truck isn't obscured by the smoke for the oncoming traffic. That is what concerns me more. I understand the desire not not back up traffic and cause a secondary crash, but I would have had LEO or the chief car take that lane until at least initial attack was done

We always park short and block the scene as protection. Protect the crews on the hose line
I really love the american fire trucks. They sounds and looks so good. They allways shining like new and they have that old school look with all the chrome.

If the PD is too lazy to stop traffic, then the FD should park the rig so as to stop ALL traffic and keep the brothers safe.

Passed this car when it was smoking. Few people who stopped were trying to help the older lady get her things out of the car.

Just don't miss TR. All that beautiful equipment and, what, 100,000 population and it's still all volunteer. Where I am now, I drive past a firehouse, the doors are open and they're ready to go.

It’s an older Audi convertible with a gas engine…no electric motor or lithium battery. Which is why they were able to put it out so quickly and with very little water.
You know it's a slow day when the Heavy shows up on a car fire that's already extinguished.

@@CWHistory07 Well, in this case, the army should also be called because they also have supercars. To monitor an already extinguished fire, you need two guys with fire extinguishers and possibly a hose, not a parade of equipment. But that's good for the idiots in the area who pay the taxes

Strange, their pager tone is identical to the department I belonged to for many years in the Trenton nj area. Same hi tone, lower tone sound. I guess as long as a department is not near another department, they can use same ones ?

When I hear Toms River New Jersey, I think of the baseball teams. I remember Toms River was in the Little League World Series for years. I know they are tough people. Kids were well coached.
I love how no one slows down or moves over for the safety of the firefighters. People yuck.
You can see early on that someone was directing traffic. I wouldn't want to be driving anywhere near that smoke.

Audi most likely did not merge into the roadway safely. He is straddling the line, and probably spun the other vehicle.

I know the reason for cars catching fire.Its the fuel injection system which requires 50 to 60 psi known as HPOS ( High pressure operating systems) unlike the cam driven mechanical fuel pump which requires only 12 to 15 psi ( Low pressure operating systems) LPOS. These modern day cars have a very complicated wiring all under one control called ECM and these cars are full of sensors.Any fuel leak or short circuit can make the car go up in flames and it endangers the lives of those inside and around the vehicle.The reason why those safe carburettor system was banned was because it didn't send appropriate amount of air into the suction manifold during acceleration which requires more air at higher acceleration this was attributed to rich mixture which didn't get fully burnt leaving unburnt fuel in the exhaust.This could have been overcome by connecting a super charger which sends more air into the suction manifold during acceleration as it's connected to the crankshaft . The sufficient air , correct compression, appropriate CFA ( centrifugal advance) and the work done by the secondary winding of the ignition coil where the 12 volt battery current is amplified to 20 thousand times.wont it burn all the air fuel mixture that's compressed in the cylinder why will there be unburnt fuel in the exhaust.aaI have been breaking my head trying to help governments understand but it is not getting into them,they only refuse to understand.please help them understand. Never think such tragedies happen only for a few it can happen to you some day, it can cost your life or the life of a loved one.How can women , children and elderly run for life in such fires.Can they in present traffic conditions or can they on the highway.will not the driver lose control in such a panic moment and bang the vehicle elsewhere.please please please think think think

Are high pressure hoses not used in the U.S....? It's so much faster to just pull the hose off the reel, and you can engage the fire almost immediately after the truck is parked. It's perfect for car fires. Also good with indoor fire fighting because it's less heavy to pull, less likely to get stuck on stairs etc. - and the fog nozzle uses much less water = less property damage. I wonder why American firefighters seem to prefer regular hoses?

Why’d they send the rescue? After the fire was out. Rescue looking fire though
Low manpower at this time of day, it’s the only other apparatus at the station besides brush truck. Since it was a mva this is the next best thing to send plus you can fit a lot of people in it.

Same in Sweden, safety first for the working ppl. To many firefighters have been killed by ppl who drive to fast, and to close and just ignore the ppl that are working
