I think people like this because of it's versatility. You can drive it like a soccer mom and at the same time your husband can take it off roading and camping.
BTW this is one of the very few vehicles still available, that's equipped with full time 4 wheel 60/40 power distribution through a 100% mechanical torsen differential. From a 4wd design POV, the only better option possible is with 4 electric hub motors.
As a owner of a 2010 GX 460, a lot of this is opinionated complaints and whining, more than design flaws. I fucking love the dash design, and the climate button's better customizability, you literally have to press 2 buttons instead off the same button that you would still have to look at to know which one you're pressing, and once you press them regularly you literally won't even have to look at the screen anymore. The GX isn't made to appease mom's it's a off roader not a parent on the go car, and will always be one, even if it works as a family car due to it's size it's not one, that's like buying a jeep and complaining that their no space. It wasn't made for that dawg.
Yes everything you say is accurate and correct. Personally, I would put up with everything you mentioned just because of the reliability. Another thing you did not touch on was depreciation. Try to find a cheap used GX and you will not. Because of its rugged build quality and its offroad capability its very popular with overlanders thus being very sought after in the secondary market. You don't see any Tahoes, Explorers or Honda Pilots being converted to off road vehicles, but you see plenty of GX's. Out of all the cars i mentioned, I would buy the GX if I could.
