THIS SOUNDTRACK *UPDATED v3
To my surprise the "He's a Bully, Charlie Brown" DVD contained a 5.1 mix of "It Was A Short Summer, Charlie Brown". (Thanks to Elijah for finding this)
For the most part the audio track was very clean without most of the annoying fx from the previous version.
That being the case, I was able to extract a perfect copies of "17-19 Nova Bossa, Love Will Come, Nova Bossa" and "12 Oh Good Grief2" by Vince Guaraldi.
On the down side, whoever did the editting chopped out pieces of songs (and video too) mostly at the beginning and the end.
Here's the inconsistencies I found (compared to v2):
02. Linus and Lucy1 (flute and trio version) [truncated]
03. It Was a Short Summer, Charlie Brown1 [truncated]
04. Oh Good Grief1 [missing]
34. Oh Good Grief3 [missing]
35. Charlie Brown Theme2 [missing]
36. It Was a Short Summer, Charlie Brown3 (end credits) [repeated ending fade out instead of hard end]
So to build this version (and a complete soundtrack), I had to borrow pieces from v2 where necessary.
Believe it or not, it's been 50 years since this special aired on WCBS.
Vince Guaraldi, along with this great jazz combo (I stopped counting players at 8), played swinging arrangements of "Linus and Lucy", "Oh Good Grief", "He's Your Dog Charlie", "Pebble Beach", "Peppermint Patty" and others.
Plus two new tunes for the special, "It Was a Short Summer, Charlie Brown" and "Masked Marvel".
John Trotter contributed short cues such as "Big Bus", "Come and Get It", "Hash", "Nova Bossa" and "Whos Stepped On My Toe?".
(The above is paraphrazed from Derrick Bang's book "Vince Guaraldi at the Piano")
First let me thank Derrick Bang for providing the "Use" list of musical tracks (which gives us real names for these tunes)
Second, thank you "MKtheInstrumentalist" for providing me some of the source material, such as cleaned up versions of "He's Your Dog" and "You're In Love".
In any case, it's a proverbial Vince Guaraldi "Greatest Hits" album with many tunes I'm sure you'll recognize.
Enjoy.

It’s finally getting an official soundtrack release this year
Awesome! After all these years! They found out they still have fans! 🍻😁
These soundtracks bring me straight back to my childhood. ❤
Bon Voyage, Pebble Beach and Big Bus are my favorites!
If we're lucky, Bon Voyage and Race for Your Life will get 5.1 soundtracks someday.
What do you mean with 5.1 soundtracks?
@@rosinamercadomarcias6439 5.1, meaning surround sound. That's how all these soundtracks are able to be created. The dialogue and sound effects are (usually) isolated in the center speaker and the music is in the front speakers.
@@RingoStarr39 oh ok, thanks
My future wishlist will be the 5.1 soundtrack for He’s Your Dog, Charlie Brown.
Been wishing for that one for 50 years! So far I have a "Vocal Removal" version but it's not very good. Too many artifacts and too many dropouts.
@@brightmacsworld8353 SInce the RUclips Police decided to censor my soundtrack, you'll have to go to an alternate site:

This is an incredible find!
Expanded version coming this year!
Yes, I just watched an interview with Sean and Jason Mendelson talking about finding the original session tapes that were used for this RSD release.
It Was a Short Summer Charlie Brown1 and Bus Blues are my all time favorites, takes me back to simpler times. Thanks for uploading these!
This is amazing. Can't believe the quality. Thank you!
Love will come has always been a favorite as it was also featured on You're In Love Charlie Brown too
My favorite too ❤
It always strikes me funny and strange that these young characters somehow know a couple of WWI songs by heart (in the sing-a-long part of this animated special).
this music is pretty 9:17
I want to see this 1969 Charlie Brown classic gem!
Love this so much ❤
All time favorite Charlie Brown Special with my all time favorites It Was A Short Summer, Charlie Brown #1. Also Bus Blues, especially #2 when the piano kicks in, phenomenal.
1:51 I never get tired of that.
Vince’s pianos had a way of appeal on me and many others! I enjoy the piano alot because it’s either the old scratchy recording or the way he’s playing it sounds like no other tune ive heard
@@Ktn_Tico I agree. He is one of my favorite pianists. I don't know how he did it, and no one else has ever successfully remade this style. It's too bad he never got to score anything else during his unfortunately short life.
Thanks for sharing this. I love your effort to bring this lovely soundtracks for our delight❤️
Bon Voyage, and Peppermint Patty's theme are my favorite tracks. Masked Marvel is good, too. Same for Pebble Beach.
Almost October 1st…. It was such a short Summer Charlie Brown…. October 1….. when my Iced Coffee becomes Hot Coffee ☕
Bon voyage OST one day, that dark chateau theme would be fun to listen to while walking around the house in the middle of the night.
Oh, we’re lucky…
I FOUND A DEAN ELLIOTT SONG!!!
12:37
Who’s Dean Elliot? That seems just like a normal version of it’s your dog CB to me?
A composer responsible for the soundtracks of some of the Dr. Seuss TV specials and some of the Chuck Jones Tom and Jerry shorts. Elliot didn't do any compositions for Peanuts, at least not during Guaraldi's lifetime. Although the brass section in the track does remind me of Elliot's work a bit, it's not his stuff at all.

can you upload it was a short summer charlie brown original opening and closing
What kind of software do you use to mute the dialogue from the 5.1 track on the DVD?
You use software like DVD Audio Extractor to rip the 5.1 track. After that, it's usually as simple as just using the 2 front speaker channels. But, it's not always that simple since sometimes sfx have to be removed via software or the phase cancellation method, if the same sound effect exists somewhere else by itself.
Swell
Great rip (and trip)! 😊 Looking forward to finding my own LP copy of this. Semi-related question after hearing the flute in the mix: would anyone happen to know which Charlie Brown TV special has “Linus and Lucy” in a minor key with swinging flute? I thought it might be “He’s Your Dog, Charlie Brown” (is that the “NO DOGS ALLOWED” one?), but to be honest I haven’t gotten around to watching the DVD I bought! Thanks!
Check out the soundtrack to "A Boy Named Charlie Brown".
28 Linus and Lucy (minor key, I've Got To Get My Blanket Back)
@@spetragl Thanks! I believe I have the original Fantasy CD release (but then again, maybe I don’t)… will check pronto. Thanks again!
