Thanks Joanne, I'm coming back from a broken wrist overseas where they haven't given me any rehab or physio yet, so this has been such a help to me in taking control of my recovery! Really helpful that you point out the shakiness of your injured wrist and the limited mobility. I'm now about to dive into the wrist free workout vids. Thank you!
Hey Joanna how are you?All your videos are very helpful and really nice.If I knew these exercises a few months ago after I had my casts taken off I would have tried them for sure.Best wishes and take care. Have a beautiful day.
Thank you Alex; I find these exercises are really helping to improve my ROM and strength. Sounds like you are much further down the line with your recovery which is super. Do you experience any ongoing discomfort or pain? Have a super day!
@@JoannaM245 Joanna thankfully I have discomfort or pain very rarely. For example one time in 2 months I may have some very little pain but that is all.Which is the most difficult exercise and more painful for you to do?Continue doing the exercises and your wrist will heal in no time.
@@Alex-lj5vy That's good to hear. The most difficult exercise really depends on your personal injury and what actions are limited, but for most people post wrist fracture and thumb in your case, anything which takes your full body weight. For example press-ups / push-ups will be challenging and may require good strengthening and mobility work prior to body load.
@@JoannaM245 I am trying to be careful not to break a bone again because I know how painful it is. Was this the first time you were in a cast?I really hope the last as well.
Hello, just wanna ask that is it ok to go on with my wrist rehab(after watching your video) ? I had my pins removed last march 17,2020 for now i’ve been doing a little bit of exerciseon my fingers only cause there ‘s pain on my wrist and i’m a little bit nervous. Is it better to move my wrist slowly and ignore the pain ?Can you tell me which exercise is applicable to do as a starter? Thanks .
Good morning Christy, as it's only been a week since you've had the pins removed you do need to be careful. However, saying that we do need to get mobilising the joint and this will naturally strengthen the wrist. The exercises which use the rolling pin or crunching up the cloth can wait till 14 days or until for feel ready. I would focus on having a go at all extension, flexions, fingers exercises, fist squeezes and wave with small range of movement for a few days then gradually increase this range of movement. It will feel strange, very alien to the body and a bit of discomfort. Small regular movements are important for the wrist. Over time the pain will ease and you will have more movement. Hope that helps. Please feel free to message anytime. :-)
I son had slightly bigger than hairline wrist injury, Doc put a cast for 3 weeks, and removable brace for another 3 weeks, and now suggested Therapy for 4 weeks (twice weekly) but these therapy costs $35 for each session. But my son never had any pain except the day he had injury. Is therapy really required? Or can he do those safe exercise at home. Is that enough? Please let me know your opinion. Thanks
Hi Ayan, it can be quite painful when you have a cast removed and trying to mobilise again. I recommend having a go at the exercises your physio has issued and take ot steady. Try and wiggle those fingers, stretch them out and gently flex the wrist. Always head back to the physio if your concerned. Let me know how you get on.
Is it normal if the bones that join to the palm feels very painful? Shall I still proceed with it? After I release the pressure, the whole pain area became very relaxed and painless for certain movements... is this progress?
Hi Delon, it all depends on what type of injury you have sustained and at where you are within the rehabilitation process. Generally speaking it will be quite sore but this should improve over time. I would check with your personal physio so they can observe your wrist movements and follow their advice. These are basic wrist rehab movements which are usually recommended. I hope that helps :-) Sending you healing vibes!
