Oh man.....when you cut to Chris and patch in the truck I almost choked on my coffee I laughed so hard! Love those dudes. I'm glad we caught some of that rain and fog on video. Love pushin those bigger miles. Super Rad! Great video man! Time to take another walk....👍
Oh my goodness I am so blessed and so thankful to all the volunteers rangers and backpackers like you guys that take care of the places we hike. I've said it many times, you can hike for weeks in the Sierras and never find a piece of trash...certainly not a piece intentionally left. It's such a pleasure to have a place thats just too much trouble for people like those that would leave their trash to get to. thanks for doing your (and their) part.
It never fails. Every time I see a video of hikers on Macafee Knob I get such anxiety! You guys all make a good hiking group. Thanks for taking us along.
Wet towels? Seriously? I thought the endless littering of blue masks on the trails was sad, but that's honestly just heartbreaking. Thanks to you guys for doing your part. And great vid, enjoyed the trail! -Elise
I agree with Motivated by Mountains. I lived in Virginia Beach for a while and would take a week off for Thanksgiving and do 100 mile sections on the Appalachian Trail. Loved Damascus. Mountains were great for cleansing the spirit and the mind.
Bryce, that windshirt was a life saver. Mine is my most often worn piece of clothing on trail, aside from compression shorts (to minimize chaffing) and my zip-off pants. I often wear it on cool summer mornings on its own as a shirt. I'm surprised at how many distance hikers don't want to carry that extra 2-6 ozs. of weight, forcing them to sweat their arses off to defend against biting insects, or bathe themselves in Deet or Picardin. I even carry bug pants in the summer to wear over my shorts, and, yes, a bug jacket and headnet, too! Not ultralight, but worth every ounce for the sake of sanity! Thanks for the video. I hiked the AT Triple Crown three years ago in the fall. The colors of the leaves added to the beauty. 👍👍
Hey bryce, top notch video. Excellent job. So cool you hiked with Scott. I follow some of his videos. The views on McAfee knob were incredible. Very cool video.
Got some of my favorite things into this video. McAfee Knob, DD X-Mid tent (LOVE my x-mid), and even slipped in some Eddie Vedder from the Into the Wild soundtrack, my favorite album. Those flies, though! I would have gone crazy without a head net.
Loved this, I just had a similar weekend here in Australia over the Easter weekend. 3 Days cool fog and rain, perfect temperatures for hiking. (No flies, we did find a few leeches though) Oh, and I was the one with a chair - oh yeah 😎
Another great video Bryce. I will definitely take the trail trash advice to heart, and start picking up a few pieces. I'll admit that I've passed up litter because I've always felt that it was too overwhelming to take it all. I never considered that it got there incrementally and can be cleaned up incrementally as well.
@@BryceNewbold I remember we had a deer get spooked only like 3 feet from us coming down from mcafee at night. Scared the bejebezz out of me. Yeah those gnats are no joke.
We actually didn't run any. Haha. But when your in a downpour you tend to just put your head down and get it. And honestly I only set up a few shots on this video. Really slacked on this one.
Nice video and edit man! I soloed this loop in the fall of 2020 and it was pretty cool but a little underwhelming in my opinion. No regrets just check this one off the list and move on🤙 kudos to motivated by mountains for picking up trash🤘

Any good? 😆
@@BryceNewbold he's definitely an ultralight hiker

Always been impressed with Scott cleaning up on his hikes. Great video Bryce, been dying to make that loop. Well done as always!
Man I wonder if I just missed you out there.. Did those last week!
I wonder if I missed you, we were there! Sunrise at Dragons Tooth is great.
I wondered that myself when I saw you just did pearisburg or whatever its called. I drove right through there. We were there March 26th-27th

Yeah, Scott’s leading by example, as we all should, thank you!
Awesome video. Hitting this loop in a week from now.

The secret to not chaffing......those smell good liquid soaps. No lie. I haven’t chaffed since they came out (10+ years). Reduces friction to zero.

Beautiful light on the sunrise selfie on the Knob, Bryce. Nice vid, as usual. Thanks!
Excellent, I love this video. Reminds me of places I have hiked. Brings back a lot of memories.
Love a good sunrise over an amazing view. Nice work.
Thanks!
Man, that sunrise!
Can't wait to get out there! Jason Wish, myself and my buddy, were supposed to go in February but got snowed out!
Can’t wait to do this later this year! Looks like a fun one 😊
It is!
Heck yeah! Planning to do this one later this year! Excellent video, thanks for sharing!

MOOOOOOOOve out of the way.
Well done capturing the sunrise. Thank you Bryce.
PS: we need Motivated's channel linked to your video. ; )
Oh crap did I not put that in there?? I meant to
Wow.... the bugs! That was wild....

Great video 👍
We went up late September last year. Didn't have to worry about bugs, but it got a tad bit chilly a few nights.
September would be a nice time to go 👍

Love motivates by mountainsl! Funny how the hiking youtubers hike with each other. Lol good video
Thanks dude. Appreciate the kind words!
@@TheUltralightMindset absolutely!
Just more of THIS!
X-MID FTW!
Go up to the ADK’s in June and you will see dense clouds of those flies the size of cars hovering right off the ground.
I'm so lucky I've never had to deal with black flies really. Had a few bites on this trip but it really wasn't that irritating at all.
I remember driving in Vermont during the heavy bug season in spring and having to occasionally turn my windshield wipers on.
How much of this did you run? A 20+mile day with elevation, a long lunch break, and setting up camera shots is crazy.
We actually didn't run any. Haha. But when your in a downpour you tend to just put your head down and get it. And honestly I only set up a few shots on this video. Really slacked on this one.

Thanks. I loved the terrain/trail and the views. But it was lacking in solitude and the "out in the wilderness" feel
@@BryceNewbold agreed
Nice. Sweet video as usual.
Did you guys go up to the top of the tooth? Trail/route behind the backside of it.
We did. I didn't go to the "very" top though. Usually I'm up for that but I wasn't feeling it that day. Haha
Cue boys 2 me. Although we’ve come to the end of the road!!!!!
Haha!
Even though I put me instead of men you got the joke
Nice hike. But I was a little concerned about whether or not you’d survive the outro.
😆
You had some killer shots in this one. Nice job!
What was the total mileage and pace for day 2? Looked like you guys were crushing it.
Thanks man! Email me bryce.newbold@gmail.com and I'll send ya the stats!
What time of year were you there? Wondering if the flies are always that bad. 😊
I’m going there in May
Nice! It's a great hike
@@BryceNewbold I’m in Ohio too. Been waiting for this hike for a while.
