    This looks a much more enjoyable route than the typical loop! I'm glad I found this. I'm planning to do this with my wife and a friend in August!

    About misread your video description as "killer coffee sandwich". What is a coffee sandwich? Do I want to know?

    So I'm planning on doing this in June 2023. I was going to park at Dragons tooth and shuttle to the approach to Tinkers. Going that route with overnight camping, how many miles is that?

    • @TheUltralightMindset
      @TheUltralightMindset  Год назад

      You could easily look at Awols AT guide or the Far Out App to determine the mileage. But, if memory serves. Its roughly 12 miles from the Andy lane trailhead (tinker trailhead) up and across the north mountain back to Dragons Tooth trailhead. The mileage of the TC loop varies depending on where you look, but its roughly 34 miles in my experience, so 34 minus twelve gives your route (Andy Lane TH to DT) approximately 22 miles. Have fun its a great hike.

    Very nice! What video system did you use for this trip?

      Thanks. Are you asking what type of editing software?

    • @TheUltralightMindset
      @TheUltralightMindset  4 года назад +2

      FILMORA....not the best, but its simple to use and gets the job done. Premier is the way to go, but much more of a learning curve.

    So you started at Dragons Tooth trailhead, hiked up to dragons tooth, then backtracked & continued on the AT northbound, is that correct?

    What type of shoes are you guys wearing? My friends and I are planning to thru hike these trails this summer and I only have boots. This will be our first thru hike so other suggestions are also welcome!

      Lightweight trail runners.
      I wear Hoka Speedgoat 4's and my wife wears Saucony Excursion TR12's. Hope that helps. If you have any questions about the hike, just ask!

      @@TheUltralightMindset thanks for the quick reply! I will definitely be looking into those. I was also wondering how you planned out where to sleep each night and the distance traveled. I’m worried that we won’t be able to sleep near a water source and that is highly important to us.

      @@jennywick4150 Are you planning to hike the TC loop or the AT section from Dragons tooth into Daleville?

      @@TheUltralightMindset we’re planning on hiking the TC loop starting at the parking lot nearest to McAfee knob and around north mountain trail back to the lot

      @@jennywick4150 Gotcha. I just hiked the loop again last weekend. There are many water sources on the AT section, just avoid the ones adjacent to the cow pastures. The last water source before hiking North mountain will be at the start of the climb up the Catawba Valley Trail. The trail follows a nice stream that is reliable unless your in a drought. Your next water source will be shortly after you leave Dragons Tooth parking lot. We started at Dragons Tooth parking lot around 9:30am, camped at the Campbell shelter and finished up around 4:30 pm the next day. I highly recommend catching the sunrise from McAfee Knob. You can check out some pics from last weekend on my instagram if you like.

    Where were you set up with the hammocks on day 2?

    • @TheUltralightMindset
      @TheUltralightMindset  4 года назад +1

      McAffee Knob. We had a few things that were damp from heavy rain on day one, so we took a few minutes to enjoy the view and dry things out. And of course, hammock yoga...😄

      Its just one trail. For this version of the Triple Crown, you start at Dragons Tooth trailhead and follow the AT to Daleville. Check the video description for all the details. Have fun. Its a great hike!
