More people need to be as fearless as you and be willing to Mod stuff. We're not breakin' it; we're making it better. Or as it SHOULD have been! Great job! :)
Thanks for sharing that idea... too many times I put something back on the store shelf when I discover it's battery operated... Now, thanks to you, I realize I need to be more creative and think outside the box....
@@cgimichaelmyers2806 IMHO... It's a matter of perspective... For me, I use a computer to control on/off switches on different props. I link animation with sound effects that are turned on/off simultaneously. In other smaller applications, I do the same with motion detectors. When motion is detected, strobe lites, speakers & props come to life. So much easier to control a show with electric cords attached.
This is such a great idea! I’m making my pumpkins this year bc Home Depot and the other stores have gotten so expensive. So I’m trying my hand at creating my own. This idea will save time and $$!! Ty!!
Thanks for this Kelly. I have the same pumpkins from HD and wondered why two of my older (more brown-orange) last for weeks with just 3 AA batteries in each of them but the small, newer one (same as in this video) eats batteries like they are going out of style. Now I know why. I’ll definitely try your DIY solution.
You’re welcome! Someone needs to have a talk with the people that design and make all Halloween pumpkin because if they don’t have a plug then they should all at least have a timer! 🙄😬
It should be mentioned that not all fixtures or bulbs are rated for outdoor use, so be careful that you get what you need for where you’ll be displaying it. If you don’t get outdoor rated stuff it’s a good idea to mark on the back of the piece that it’s indoors or outdoor use, so you remember for use again in the future.
I have one of these pumpkins from Lowe’s and it doesn’t work either. One of the gears inside keeps jamming so the piece with the metallic paper won’t move. Thanks for showing me how to fix it!
You can just hard wire them to a dc/ac adapter and can leave the lights that come with them alone and can still use the timer function that comes with them. It’s not hard I did all mine last year. Just need to make sure you get the right volts. 1 battery is 1.5 volts doesn’t matter if AA or AAA all are 1.5 volts.
Hi Jamie, these are the bulbs I used. Venforze E12 Flame Bulbs 8 Pack, 3 Mode LED Candelabra Flame Light Bulb 1.2 Watt Warm White Chandelier Flame Bulbs,1800k Candle Light Bulbs, Flame Tip for Christmas Party Decorations a.co/d/ddBTKqh
I have one that is a orange flickering flame bulb off of Amazon and the other is a green Gemmy kaleidoscope light. It’s actually more green in person that is in the video.
I am going to do this. I bought all these pumpkins and went nuts last year with the batteries dying...thank you for making this video.

Exactly and thanks!
I just want to thank you SO MUCH for posting this. I thought that we'd gotten a faulty unit because our batteries had to be changed every other day!
You’re welcome!

What’s wrong with using batteries? I think it's better and more efficient.

If you have the time it’s so much more rewarding to make your own stuff! I love doing it, it is my passion!

I’ll keep that in mind although I’ve been using These for quite some time without issue.

I also use the battery conversion kits from Amazon.
Great job. I step bit will make your work even easier.
Thanks 😊
I love your pumpkin 🎃
Thanks 😊

@@kellysdiyhalloweencreation8382 Thanks so much. I have about 18 pumpkins I'm going to convert. Greatly appreciate. :)
You’re welcome! I bought a whole lot more on sale after Halloween last year so I’ll be converting some more this year too!
Do you have a link for the cord?

I had two different bulbs in there actually.
