    Uplighting the trees in the backyard looks so good. Doing this in white would look great during Christmas. If you ever watched the NBC show “Grimm”, their night time exterior shots were incredible with layered lighting.

    I've always loved uplifting trees. As you said, it creates a nice backdrop. It also adds heught, drama and scale depending on the project. For my haunts, the treeline to the left of my haunts will be uplit. This won't add height or scale to my haunts but it will add drama and 'widen' the area which enhances perceived value to my customers.

    Thank you so much. Lighting is critical for making a good display a great one. I appreciate you taking the time to detail the products you used, and your reasoning behind your plan, that's a huge help.
    A few thoughts-I have that exact timer and I love it. I've used it for Halloween and Christmas for going on 10 years and no trouble. The covers for the outlets make it safer. I'm going to buy your 4 outlet extender for sure. We have a lot of 25' cords with three outlets in a wedge (we call them 3fers) but yours are better so things aren't as crowded.
    I'll suggest two other options. One is like your extender. It only has three outlets but the cords are 6+' long. They're useful when the lighting is too far apart for the regular splitter. WalMart has them and so does Amazon.
    Lastly, there's an extension cord that has outlets spaced apart along its length about 8' apart. I find it greatly simplifies the number of cords, especially with lights/airblowns in a line. That may work on your roof next year. The Amazon links were insanely long so here's a link to a storefront just so you can see what I'm talking about if you're interested. They have both.

    • @dianeladico1769
      @dianeladico1769 Год назад

      What kind of lighting do you want and what type of props? Isaac is the expert, clearly, but I'll help if I can. For spot lighting, nothing beats the old glass hot as blazes spots for brightness over a distance so they should hold up under a street light.

    • @deborahmckerall6912
      @deborahmckerall6912 Год назад

      @@dianeladico1769 Thanks so much for your willingness to help. For props I have a large spider like Isaac did his tutorial on, I am making a 12 foot scarecrow that has led mini lights inside his chest, and I have a graveyard area. I did a test of scarecrow last night and the 400 led mini lights show up but since street light is on that side I am disappointed that it is not as bright as it would be if yard did not have street light. Wondered if I put a spot on it would it help or not? I tried using some LED floor lights last year if I tried using a color to highlight the colors do not show up…only could use white.

    • @dianeladico1769
      @dianeladico1769 Год назад

      @@deborahmckerall6912 That sounds so cool. I'm jealous. I'm guessing the spider is dark? So depending what he's up against you may want to add contrast. So maybe a spider web behind/under him? You could either add lights behind it or not and then shine a light on the spider. That way he'll show up more. Trenton Mills is running behind on their beef netting but you can easily use cheesecloth (cheaper than creepy cloth). Or, depending on the look you want, you could use a cheap sheer panel and cut holes in it to look like the beef netting webs. IKEA has super cheap ones or WalMart or a thrift store. Tulle is also an option. Garden bug netting or frost blanket works too. Stake it to the ground under him and then up behind him. Zip tie it to a couple of garden fence posts and cut the holes. Extra credit if you can put his back legs up like he's crawling down the web, if that appeals to you.
      Scarecrow: Is there material in front of the lights? My concern with mini LEDs is unless you're looking straight at them, they're either dim or like they're not there. You know how when you buy them and they're all facing the same direction they'll burn your retinas but once you hang them not so much? So you may want to reorient them to all face forward. Or add something reflective behind the lights, if your design allows for that. I put foil under the green lights in my cauldron and it helped. Last resort I'd hate to say buy more lights but if you're OK with the heat, regular incandescent bulbs are good from almost any angle. Or, I got LEDS that are in a plastic bulb that looks like the old C9s. Super bright. You'd need to put them in something to make it orange, or put orange gauze over the chest. Amazon sells tinted film or cellophane basket wrap if the lights are cool enough. Again, not seeing what you have I'm guessing.
      At that height I think you'd want a spot on him to show him off. Maybe two, aimed high and low to get all of him. The ones I use are the 120V with the heavy outdoor cord. The bulbs are 90W glass for garage fixtures. They're warm white. All the LEDs I have are kind of lame but Isaac has better ones so maybe those will do. OOh, maybe one shining on his face and the other closer to his feet and almost straight up to give the creepy shadow effect and not take away from the lights in his chest.
      Or, those fixtures Isaac has for the roof pumpkins and the flame bulbs in his chest. The flickering would be cool if it was bright enough. Again, something reflective behind would help if you could make it not terribly obvious.
      For my graveyard I've done a couple of things. Randomly placed cheap solar stakes. One on either side of a larger headstone looks like an eternal flame deal. The cheap ones are usually cool white which helps. Also the less expensive LED spots but put them low at a glancing angle and not straight on but at the edge of a row of headstones and aimed to hit them from about 15 degrees, if that makes sense. I also did those push lights on the ground but that was a pain. Since LED emergency lights are so cheap that's an option but again, a pain to fuss with. They also have those Christmas light stakes for outside that can be spread out and even put in at an angle to light the head stones (dang it, now I have to try that...). If your headstones are in rows you can put the stakes behind them to light the next row and hide them a bit.
      I hope this helps. Any questions just ask. I hope Isaac doesn't mind me hijacking his comment section.
      Happy Halloween!

    This is amazing! What a great job! Where you live? Do you ever worry about rain? That’s the issue I have with my props and Halloween decorations 😢

      It rains often here in North Carolina, things get wet but they don’t get ruined so I never worry about the rain

    Hi Isaac, new sub. Good explainer on the electronics and cord your layout/accessories.
    Protip: Don't include a sixty second intro to a video explaining what you're not going to show me. The "How-To-Light" is the focus for the video so stick to that. I don't need to know what your "not focus" is, if that makes sense. It's super simple just to say "By the way, if you want to see how all of these props were built and want to see a full walk-through, click on this link here (point) or that one there (point)" Anyway, just a format suggestion for you.
    I really like to see what other people are doing in their displays how they solve certain problems, especially cable management. So this was very useful!

      I always find it so interesting when people give you a backhanded compliment. Where I’m from, we just call it being rude lol. 🤠
      It’s not really a “pro tip” when you’re not a pro. You don’t have an active RUclips channel, you have 3 subscribers, and you don’t do tutorials. I have built *my* channel (emphasis on “my”) based on filming/editing my tutorials the way I see fit. There is a skip button for a reason and you can very well skip the intro to ANY video on RUclips - I know, shocking, right?
      I think you may have bigger problems going on in your life if your biggest complaint about a FREE tutorial/how-to video is that… the intro… was…. (Checks notes) one. minute. long.
      Here’s a pro tip; Don’t tell someone what to do with their channel - especially when they never asked for your opinion and (more importantly) they’re clearly doing something right (numbers and views don’t lie).
      So no, I will not shorten my intros.
      Happy Halloween, dude 😃

    Beautiful job with the lights! Wish I could afford them (Amazon sellers upped the prices on all of these this month). Looking for something to light up my graveyard. 🪦
