    I am so happy to see you in this profession ma’am! This does wonders for my self esteem as a newer facilitator moving into a consultant position at some point within the next year. Following for more details and tips.

    Thank you so much for making this video! I'm a young professional with a bachelor's in General Psychology and Communication Studies trying to find out what career path will be a good fit. This provided a lot of great information as I didn't even know this type of job existed. What are the training requirements to break into the field of training facilitator, consultant, etc? Thank you so much!

      I was also a communication major. I talk about how I got into L&D and the basic requirements to go into this field in other videos. Keep in mind, there’s no “one size fits all” way to break into the field. Good luck and thanks for watching!

    I love your videos! Very insightful. I've been in training for about 5 years..but never had formal/specific education for the role. I have a MBA, but have now enrolled to take the APTD test soon. Would you suggest getting this certification?

    • @JenniferMitchellEarley
      @JenniferMitchellEarley  Год назад

      The certification seems to correlate with what you currently do, and therefore, sounds appropriate. I would also ask you to consider where you want to go in the field to ensure that you don’t have to go get another, different certification for that position/role (i.e, instructional design, elearning, facilitation, training manager, etc.). There may be a certification program offered, outside ATD, that encompasses those skill sets as well. Thanks for watching!

    This is good insight, I am a recent grad looking to go into the Learning & Development field. What advice would you have for the entry level position?

      Thank you for watching.
      I'd be happy to share a few thoughts that I had regarding your aspiration to go into L&D. I've been in L&D for over 20 years. As you can imagine the field has changed in several ways :-). However, one thing that remains true is the different types of training that one could "specialize" in (i.e., technical, learning, soft skills/leadership, etc.) as well as the role that one plays in a training department (i.e., instructional designer, facilitator, consultant, or a hybrid of all of the above).
      My first thought is that you need to determine which area you'd like to break into - technical training, eLearning, soft skills, etc. I think you'd also benefit from knowing which role you'd prefer - instructional design vs. facilitation. When I first started, roles were a hybrid of both. I was expected to design programs from scratch (taking them through the full design cycle and ensuring that they adhered to adult learning principles) as well as deliver/facilitate them.
      I hope this helps!
      Best wishes,
      Jennifer

  • @TropikGamer

    Do you basically use the ADDIE method and if you dont then why not?

    • @JenniferMitchellEarley
      @JenniferMitchellEarley  2 года назад +3

      I use the Langevin Learning Services Design Cycle because that’s what I was taught in the beginning of my career as well as where I received my instructional designer/developer certification. It is very similar to the ADDIE model.

    Hi Jennifer,
    I am working as a process trainer and having 5+ years of experience.
    Interested in designing courses and good in delivery also. I am struggling whether is should do any course or go for MBA. Please suggest bcz my complete interest is in learning and development.

    • @JenniferMitchellEarley
      @JenniferMitchellEarley  2 года назад +1

      I would say follow your passion. If you can find a way to tie an MBA to instructional design and learning and develop in a marketable manner, then go for it. You have to ask yourself what is that you want to do and what is the best course of action to accomplish that goal. Only you can answer those questions. 🙂 Best wishes & thanks for watching!

      @@JenniferMitchellEarley mam that was diplomatic you study the world more better than I do more experience than me then for a person like me who is lost seeking help you should direct him.
      Most of the time your passion doesn't supports you need of the hour does.
      So wanted to know any course name and institute that is going to be valuable and future of learning and development.
      It's not that i will blame you it's your opinion that i want to know.

      I would suggest joining groups on LinkedIn. There may be individuals who would be interested in allowing you to shadow them or conduct an informational interview. Additionally, you could join your local ATD chapter. They have networking and training events that will give you greater exposure and insight into the field. Best wishes!

    Hi Jennifer, this is great information. I have a EdM in HRD and am looking at prof dev and certification training, specifically alternatives to ATD. How did you like Langevin? Thanks so much for this!

    • @JenniferMitchellEarley
      @JenniferMitchellEarley  2 года назад +3

      I really enjoyed Langevin. I was introduced to the company by my first employer as Langevin was the industry leader at the time. I really got a lot out of the courses and found them to be immediately applicable. Therefore, I decided to pursue and complete my instructional designer/developer certification on my own (and paid for it out of my own pocket). While I attended ATD regional courses (formerly ASTD), I never considered them for certification.
      I'm glad that you found the video informative; thanks for watching!
