I bought this truck 2 weeks ago in red. This review is accurate. My observations so far are fuel economy is terrible 13mpg mostly hwy miles., Radio volume knob is too small. It pulls an 7k trailer like it isn't even there, good ride loaded or unloaded. I absolutely love the things they did to make the bed accessible with the steps and tailgate, as a contractor I am getting things from the bed daily and modern trucks are too damn high for it to be remotely convenient without these additions. Low end torque is fantastic but it isn't snappy and fst like the Ram Hemi. I think as a work truck it has the things you need and non of the crap you don't and serviceability and longevity were in mind when designed. So far I LOVE this truck.
Man I really like these trucks but I really don't like the pushbutton tailgates. I wish you could just get a traditional tailgate latch. You can still make it soft close
Nearly exactly my new truck, mine has the blackout emblems and upgraded mirrors…lucky find My mistake, same mirrors but mine is Z71… and there are two compartments in the front armrest/center seat…wish it had the HUD active and power outlets in the rear…but zero complaints…I’m 6’6” and the hood is at my chest😮, and it’s still a hop to get in. Tall tall truck
Nice truck and review Will! I'm shocked though this still has the older interior. I realize this is more of a work/commercial vehicle but I figured it would have the updated interior by now.
I just picked up a similar truck a week ago and went with the custom over the LT because it didn’t have the updated interior. I am not a fan of large infotainment screens or digital dashboards.
Personal opinion, keep this interior for the custom. It allows us to buy a “nice” work truck. I need more of a truck than a luxury vehicle. The Power train and platform need to be a higher priority over the big pretty screens and all other nonsense.
@@tylers.2069I felt the same way. I got the custom with a Duramax, 4x4, Z71 package and towing package. The LT with the exact same power terrain was at least $8k more. I didn't think the extra screens were worth it..
I love some of the things the custom offers but I don’t like the monitor it’s too small and not for me. I just bought a 2024 Chev Silverado 2500 LT Diesel Duramax. Leather seats , rear sliding window . Multi pro tail gate . In the Dark Ash . I just bought electric side steps by Ams. I got the larger infotainment center with google play . I love it .
thought really hard about getting a 24 inventory was low especially for gas, but a 23 high country with Z71 and deluxe pkg popped up and they sold it to me for 67-68k with 3.9% APR, they wanted 23s gone....just missing 4 gears but dont tow really so its fine......so I bought it instead.....not huge fan of leather but didnt have a choice.......a loaded LT cost almost same as my truck now....am sure the 10 spd is pretty sweet but mine gets it done.....I need payload more than towing every month or so i still check out 24s though, lol.......they did a nice job with custom exterior and its a great entry level HD truck for no frills put it to work truck.....will last forever think they should have gave all 24s the interior with limited options on screen....or maybe analog DIC and 10 or 12" display for info screen....just a little more to know you have a 24.......
kinda kills me seeing that sticker price every time lol ... but for it's price point it does offer a decent amount compared to others ... would hands down been the winner had they placed that new interior
I have a truck like this. Been having a lot of radio issues. Freezing randomly changing. Not doing anything, and camera looks like a fish bowl. Anyone know any fixes?
Not body color bumpers and grille on the 2500 Custom, they’re black no matter what color the truck is - does make the black and dark ash colored trucks look a little classier than the lighter colors in this trim…
@@generichardson7372 you bought a 1500 Custom then - congratulations, they’re a great value in today’s crazy market. My wife drives one. There’s a big difference in the appearance of this package between 1500’s and 2500’s.
Great engine and transmission but downhill after that. I purchased a 2024 2500HD just like the one in this review. The engine and transmission are great. To compare what I am saying I just came out of a 1999 F350 dually with the 7.3 diesel. So here is the bad news: the steering is from a go-cart and towing is a two hand job and the slightest surface crack and you had better be hanging on. The radio? What a joke. There is no steering wheel controls and the volume is way in the center of the dash requiring you to move your shoulders to make changes. And the radio screen is plenty big but to change the channel you need to use your pinky finger and you have to be dead on the channel you want. Not super user friendly while towing and managing the go-cart steering. I had to put in my own rear wheel linings which were cheap and fairly easy to do. I suspect it would have been even cheaper and easier for Chevy to do it. This may be just me whining but the exhaust goes straight back; my wife does not love it. I am happy with the full 4 doors and damn Ford for not making a truck that a guy with only two jobs can afford. And yes, I tried a few states with no luck with Ford. Gotta run will come back and write more. Great job with the review and great pricing from that dealer.
How heavy are you towing? I tow a 6000lb enclosed trailer now with my Ram 1500 and was thinking about upgrading to one of these 2500hd's but I was hoping to get away from the 2 handed death grip I have now towing.
I had a 2017 Silverado HD LT package , it had almost the same interior dash as this Custom, beautiful exterior styling , but antiquated dash, thats just cheap and dated, come on GM, up your game with the 26 model interior Custom package, what a turn off, after seeing such a nice exterior
@doingthedamnthingmarketing That depends. For work or for pleasure. For work I pull three 28' trailers. A total combination length of 110' behind a freightliner cascadia. For pleasure, I have a 22' fishing boat, and I also have a 38' 5th wheel. Yes I pull shit down the road. Daily.

I’ve got the regular cab work truck and I’m getting 13.5mpg on the highway. That’s about 2000rpm at 70mph.
Just purchased a white Custom Z71 6.6 gas. Awaiting arrival from the transportation hub to dealership in 2 weeks. 😮
Great to see all the features. Nice review.
2004 Chevy Silverado 2500! Sweet ride. Good job!

The fancy tailgate is an option on all the Chevy trucks but on GMC, it comes standard on the higher end ones (I believe it’s SLT and above)
I bought this exact color and model for my wife. She has a two horse trailer bumper pull. She loves her truck.
Now my dream truck!

What is the sales tax in Tampa on a $56,750 truck? Florida license fee?
I wanted the ZR2 Diesel but they wouldn’t give me a discount so I ended up buying an LTZ Diesel from another dealership. It’s a bad ass truck.

Pick mine up tomorrow woohoo
It’s rated for 16,000 conventional tow and 18,500 for gooseneck.
I love those wheels. Too bad you can’t get leather seats and sunroofs with that trim.
Does it come with the auto locking rear differtial?
Of course
Nice truck.

Really bae we don’t need that much bae
I was hoping GM was going to do something about the styling and design issues. Guess not. Very disappointing.
Any trim above a 2500 Custom is redesigned.
Some of us still prefer to have a vehicle under 85k and this is perfect. These customs aren't staying on the lots for more than a week or 2.
Interior looks dated.
It’s one step above a work truck. LT and above have the refreshed design but work truck and custom keep the previous design.
Cheap plastics
THAT'S A BADBOY LOOK I LOVE ❤
How does this compare to the Hyundai Santa Cruz? Seems a little bigger but overall similar functioning trucks
