  • Hi all, let's talk about Dynamic LOD for MSFS2020 and how to use it for VR (Virtual Reality).
    By using Dynamic LOD (Level of Deatil) for sim objects and terrain, you can keep your framerate more constant and reduce stutters when approucing an airport for landing.
    Get DynamicLOD here: github.com/Fragtality/DynamicLOD

    *I made a small mistake in the configuration for OLOD Object Level of Detail. It should be the other way around. In my community tab you can find a screenshot of the detailed and correct configuration for all the levels. Cheers and happy simming, Mike*

    HI and thanks for all of your great videos, each step has made improvements in my VR performance. However, I am having an issues with the installation of Dynamic. I installed it and the panel opened as you said it would. I then began to make changes as per the config you shared. I made one input and the panel disappeared. I have not been able to open the panel since. I have tried to open it from the desktop icon, with FSUIPC and with MSFS 2020 but it will not open. I have open in the file location via the properties window and reinstalled but it will still not open. Just wondering if you or any of your followers have any advice. Thanks again. Kevin

      Sorry, cancel that, I watched your video again, followed your instructions regarding deletion of the config file (which I saw the fist time I watched but it didn't register with me). I am good now. Thanks so much again. Kevin

      Glad it works now. I had the same issue the first time. I made a copy of my config file and renamed it, so I can use that one again when the app crashes.

    I install it correctly and it picks up the FPS, the Trend, but it doesn't pick up the AGL, so no chage in Climb or Descend. Where I am doing it wrong? It installed everything it needed, I ugess it can't read the Altitude from MSFS for some reason?

    • @Virtusim
      @Virtusim  6 месяцев назад

      Did you check the VR profile box? When flying in VR, that box needs to be checked. I'm not the developer of this program, so I don't know why it's not reading your AGL

      @@Virtusim Fixed it, it needed a fresh connection with SimConnect, restarted the PC and it is good now. I can report that the performance is good and there are no spontaneous switches in LOD. The logic of maximizing LOD in high altitudes works better than what was proposed in the comments here in reverse.

    After downloading the executable i got the message from my FSecure virusscan that it detected malware in the fille and therefore it was blocked by the Deepguard protection. Besides that it had no rights for maps where it obviously wante toe write something. Did you experience the same problem while trying to install DLOD ?
    And if you did, how did you solve that problem without usins the option to install with administrator rights ?

    how do i get the entire lod setting page to show page to show i can only get 2 listed setting not the entire lod list i dont kn how to sen to a screen shot

      @Virtusim  6 месяцев назад

      HNY Tony, you have to add them manually and press the + button. The new LOD setting then shows up in the list. If you want to change a setting, double click on the setting and change the fields in the boxes and click on S to save them. I hope this is what you meant. Cheers, Mike

    Hello, first of all, thank you for your video...a program like this is what I often imagined being able to use...just like being able to have a program that does the same with clouds...for example, high clouds up to 10,000 feet and higher and higher. let the clouds go ultra.

    I installed the program and everything is fine. When I go up and check the TLOD in the menu, I see that it is actually increasing as I go up... the problem is that I don't see any improvement in the scenario when I am, for example, at 15,000 feet and the TLOD is at 150 la. image is the same as if the TLOD were at 50..
    I don't know what I'm doing wrong...if anyone could think of a solution I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thank you so much.

      Hello Juan, you're not doing anything wrong. TLOD is terrain level of distance. When you are on the ground, you can see not much of the terrain miles away. So TLOD is set to 50. As you climb higher and higher you are able to see more of the terrain around you and TLOD is set at higher values. This means that you are able to see cities that are far away.

      Thanks for the clarification, I mistakenly believed that it gave better quality to the ground textures when the TLOD was increased.@@Virtusim

    Anybody using VR around here? It's not working for me, no changes in altitude or LOD. But it displays my FPS correctly.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers.

      @@Virtusim Yes I did, Sir! I followed the instructions to the letter. Even uninstalled and reinstalled. No idea why it’s not working when it actually communicates with the sim, FPS.

    You realise that your LOD didn't change at all in the first 5 minutes of the video yet you are claiming it improved your performance. Particularly noticeable flying through 1500ft when I think the program was adding LOD and subtracting it at the same time.

      You are correct and I made a mistake in the OLOD config. That one should decrease as you go higher and not increase in detail. Just recorded a correction video for that, which will go online shortly. In my community tab, you will find the correct config. Thanks for pointing it out and have a Happy New Year!!

  • @desmodromic4586
    @desmodromic4586 6 месяцев назад +4

    You should actually decrease your OLOD when you fly higher, you don’t need to render all objects when you are 10.000 feet high, so decrease your TLOD when you are low and increase OLOD, when you go higher increase TLOD and decrease OLOD

      Make sense, I'll make a follow up on this with detailed config. I used the default profile 1 :)

    • @Virtusim
      @Virtusim  6 месяцев назад +1

      That's the same misundertanding I made, Terrain LOD should increase when climbing and Object LOD decrease.
