I'm a "traditional" painter (paintkits/photoshop) and I've never used Blender. Watching this tutorial I've been able in just half an hour to be able to made my first livery. Thank you!
This is by far, the most concise, and expertly explained way to paint a jet. Thanks for taking the time to teach! I was dying trying to match logos on the tail.
I have Blender 4.1 and quite new so bumbling around finding where things have moved to vs where they're shown here but even so, this helped significantly.
Can you show me how to do this with the Boe-- just kidding :) Actually just wanted to ask if the logos/artwork need to be any specific filetype or .png's are fine?
@@AirNOTT No. Unless it absolutely must carry transparency info then always choose a .jpg or .jpeg format. PNGs hold more data regardless of whether it's a texture with a transparency in it or not and therefore will render slower than a .jpg file.
*of course* it doesn't work for the horizon 787 😒 Must be nice to be one of those experienced texture painters who just figure it all out and smash out liveries left right and center the moment a paintkit is released. All while every time I try to figure out how to make liveries myself it's just brick walls after brick walls.
Seriously bro, can you tell us how to get rid of all these lines to clean up the aircraft…I think once we get this we can maybe figure out the rest but these lines are frustrating
I’m saying bro!!!! I’m wondering the same thing. I created my very first livery thanks to this man and his tutorial. But I really don’t know how to export to PTP for the operation center. We need help! 🙏🏾
@@ultimate_aviator237 honestly I just followed his steps in the video, I wanted to try out a simple livery so I made everything white like he did in the video, got a picture from the internet, placed it on the aircraft however, on some areas of the 3d model I don’t know how to clean up the lines, I would like to keep certain things it’s natural color but I don’t know how to clean it up from all the lines. Then there’s the biggest issue…getting it into the sim.
@@dubai_operator9250 i think i know how to fix it you have to make a texture i dont know how but you can make a plane color basetexture that would be good bc you dont have to do the removing of orange
My friend, i have a little issue with that paintkit (yellow), if you look on the right side, when i paint on fuselage, there same paint goes out on the right front cargo, how to separate that ? can you help me please ?
@@AirNOTT No, i select the fuselage right side, i paint behind the belly fairing and the same paint appears on the front cargo door, if i select the front cargo door and delete the paint on it, it react at the same time on the fuselage. that my issue. is it possible with that paintkit to separate the fuselage all cargo doors ?
Hard to say without having a go myself. I'll have a look when I get a chance. Could just be how this specific paint kit is setup. They can differ slightly
It would slso be nice a video on how to do a template and how to put reg. number on the underside of aircrafts without the mirroring problem. This is my biggest problem with MSFS.
I found my issue friend, the front cargo door and the rear one have the same tile that's why if you paint in one the same paint will go out on the second. See yaaaaaaaaa
Nice video, but Blender is a horrible program, not ituitive at all, super difficult and complicated, and I say this as an airline pilot, so rather familiar with technology I'd say. Even making a straight line seems to be difficult and requires lots of time on google/youtube to find out how to do it. GIMP/Photoshop are way much easier to work on.
I kinda agree. Though in the case of the A320, it’s REALLY hard to draw a straight line down the fuselage in photoshop, as to have it appear straight, you need to draw it curved in photoshop. Blender has the advantage that you 3D paint it on straight, and it curves it perfectly on the texture file. Pros and cons for each. Blender is immensely powerful software but it does have a steep learning curve. As the recent owner of a 3D printer, I’ve spent the weekend learning more about Blender and while frustrating at times, it’s very impressive
I’m the wrong guy for that I’m afraid. I struggle enough managing to do liveries for myself, never mind others 😂 maybe try fiverr or contact some of the artists on flightsim.to

No problem, happy painting!
Thks thk thks my friend ! was waiting for that kind of video !!! a big like for you mate !
No problem 👍
It looks like that the paint kit you downloaded has changed since you made this video, and I wasn't able to follow along.
It also happened to me, did you managed to make it work?
@@ADIRU22 It changed look inside the livery folder for the directory.
How would one go about making a livery for the FlyByWire A32NX as their installer no longer has a converter from the A320 to A32NX?
Here we are !
What happens if you don't have a logo already? How do you make one?
I use affinity designer to make all of mine. Then save it out as a png
@@AirNOTT same for me. Affinity designer have everything you need but is not for non professional or experienced people unfortunatly.

PNG is best as they offer transparency 🙂

Maybe share the NOT orange fixed one?

My viewing figured would disagree but you’re welcome 😅
Your sim looks great, would u mind sharing ur settings? Subscribed 👍
Regarding the end: shouldn't there be a yellow plane on the runway?
my model isnt changing its colour
Will this work with GIMP as well?
My Colour Bucket tool isnt working if i select the colour and want to fill in it wont work
I did everything correct, but the aircraft doesn't show up in MSFS?
