JUSTINNNNN. Ty for being so raw and for articulating key principles that really guide us in the right direction in life (and not just following societal norms)
I work in tech as a researcher, and I've realized my PhD has become a mental block for me. It's led me to a life that, deep down, I know I don't want. I love research, but I'm struggling to reconcile this with finding my real passion. The years I've invested in my field make it hard to consider leaving, yet I'm aware it's not where my passion lies. This video resonates with my feeling of being lost and trying to find my true path. I know ill get there though.
I started going out of my way to change my beliefs about the world 2 years ago. since then i have started a startup gotten into better shape and am overall happier. Very happy to see you make a video abt this.
Hi Justin watching halfway through the video I wanted to share my thoughts with you. I see many entrepreneurs online talk about success and how to be successful. How to get out of the rat race and be free. But even the most successful entrepreneurs, once they reach their “peak” and have “made it” that is not enough. They search for ways to make more money, start seven more companies, and various other avenues because they are searching for something which can not be obtained. What I don’t see many entrepreneurs talk about is once you have had this crazy level of success, what are ways to help the world. To have amassed so much wealth only for oneself feels disingenuous. How can one really make an impact for future generations, and make a real impact on earth and not deceive others with false ideas of making colonies on other planets but here today on earth and for those who need help.
Evaluating your thoughts on whether they are coming from social conditioning or if they are your true intrinsic thoughts are very critical to overall quality of life. I was asking myself today, should I have gotten a Model Y or is it ok that I went with used Subaru Outback (cash paid). I realize that my decision was based on my needs and not on what makes me look cool in the society. I based the decision on the fact that I will not have a loan on a depreciating asset. Still I sometimes struggle and its ok. I think its ok to question your ideas because that way you are not taking in just because someone told you so. Justin made it much more clear to me with "Focus on your intrinsic values" for long term happiness. So thank you.
No, people who are constantly in chase of happiness even when have all they could ask for have a mental instability. Especially wealthy people. case study: Tony Hsieh RIP There is no nirvana. Hey Justin. About a year ago I was a more avid watcher and downloaded an app I believe you were a part of. It was goal app I believe. You would set goals “no smoking” and then each day you completed you would tap the bubble and it would add a day. I’ve gone down the wrong path and have since been trying to step in the right direction and I would love to redownload the app to help. Can you please remind me of what the app is called? Thx
Thanks Justin! Love it, Destroy your limiting beliefs! So much of Silicon Valley rules is made up. I found this book helpful in taking a design thinking approach to your life: Designing Your Life: How to Build a Well-Lived, Joyful Life by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans
Break free from your limiting beliefs. Start by thinking from first principles: What kind of life do I truly want, and how can I reshape my current circumstances to align with that vision?
Had same problem with with wage, decided recently to just to focus on what works and i love and thought might pay off eventually. As a Joardan P. said in my case eat the dragon by pieces until you can swallow whole one or smth like that) peace
this right here; id rather listen to someone related to my field(tech) on how to improve and perform than listen to a youtuber who has never worked on anything except making clickbait videos.

Depending on billionaires to save the world is not a great plan for humanity.
