I am just a random guy who has been coming back to this performance every so often for the last 10+ years. Best mario medley on youtube in my opinion :)
thing is, it's an ensemble of PERCUSSION, it takes a lot of sync and sharpness to play a song like Super Mario's medley, especially if the main melody is coming from xylophones that play 2 or 3 part harmonies with eachother
I could listen to this over and over again, brings back so many memories... I especially like the smb 3 skyworld arrangement, it just sounds so epic. I have seen many different mario percussion ensembles here on youtube but yours is by far the best of them
Don't let the bad comments get you down! this is fabulous! Yeah sure, there are faults, but you can never be perfect with so many people going at once! well done!
I liked that they were playing a familiar piece with a twist to it! I think it sounded like one person was playing each instrument and they sounded synchronized throughout the entire piece good job!
Ya, I agree with sergefan. The balance really seems to be leaning toward aux. percussion, and considering the camera's position and noting that camera mic's probably aren't that great, it makes sense. Plus, reverb and such make it sound worse... As for the song itself, very nice. A couple of slips in the beginning, but the tightness of the underworld theme is great!
@RawrImmaEachu Its a rainmaker... its pretty much 2 drumheads and a bunch of beads or something small like beans... you move it around to make rain type sounds.
I arranged this piece and I'm in the process of trying to get this published by Row Loff Productions. So, if anyone is interested in checking out this piece it would help to push things along if you sent emails to them stating your interest.
Last spring at our highschool band concert my mallet ensemble did a Mario show. This show right here kicks the crap out of our's(which was crappy mainly because SOMEONE didn't know how to play a drumset right). But we got to dress up as the characters from the game and we had a really fun time. I was Peach.
my percussion ensemble would love to play this medley! Is there anywhere I can get the sheet music? I've been looking but it's nowhere to be found!! btw, you guys are awesome! Congrats to the arranger! :)
Hey, very nice arrangment. Very well performed. I think a lot of the balance issues could be from the camera, can't always judge what you hear from a camera mic system. If you could ever send the arrangement, I would love to see it. Keep up the good work!
Dear Mr. Jeremy Katalenic I am a percussion teacher and lead a percussion ensemble at our music school. For our summer concert I am looking for a suitable piece and discovered your arrangement of A Super Mario I like your arrangement very much and the piece would fit perfectly for my instrumentation. Now I would like to inquire if you would possibly have sheet music (score and individual parts) available for this? I would of course pay you a suitable price for it. With kind regards and best thanks for your feedback. Christian Bucher (percussion teacher & Music School Director)
Someone needs to tell that accesory player to mellow out! His shakers and tambourine is freakin' loud! Y'all need to work on balance and hittin' the right notes. So much for a college ensemble...
@Tyranus1 The majority of the rest of the instruments were what counted, IMO, so it's just something that should be let go of. The song does better for it regardless.

Me too! I visit this video often, mainly because my dad is on the bass but huge fan of the entire video!

dancing in my chair! best part of music class so far.
I kid you not, you had me bobbing my head and wanting to dance to this video the moment it started playing!
MAGNIFICO!
i think your music has already attracted many people's attention.
I am from asia, i hope to bring your music to my percussion ensemble to my country
Loved every bit of it, fantastic, thanks

THis is awsome!
I liked that they were playing a familiar piece with a twist to it! I think it sounded like one person was playing each instrument and they sounded synchronized throughout the entire piece good job!

I'm applying to this school next year...oh my god, does this get me excited. I'm a lonely mallet player at my school, so this looks amazingly fun.
Excellent! Very well done. :D
¡Genial! ¡Mario Bros es la ley!

Ten years after upload! Still great music
This is so awesome!
Percussion is so fun!
you're the best!!!
I'm a huge Mario fan, and all of the little instruments in this setup make it sound exactly like in the game
wow that was amazing!
Good job !!!
omfg awesome!!!

Hello!! I like your arrangement, I would like play here in Brazil! How do I get the parts?
that was awesome!
I LOVE IT!!!!
@keikhaI chuckled heartily at that.
percussion rocks!
ohhhh amazing ;)
FUCKEN AWESOME!!!! 5 STARS!!!!!
my middle school Jazz Band was gunna do something like this...

thats sweeet!
that's music
It's an ocean drum. It has lots of little ball bearings rolling around inside to sound like ocean waves.
@cyberjar88 For the same reason they have percussion instruments in a wind ensemble or a wind band.
einfach nur geil
my percussion ensemble would love to play this medley! Is there anywhere I can get the sheet music? I've been looking but it's nowhere to be found!!

Cool!!!
love that CHACHA
HOLY NDNHGGKMHGFD I FREAKIN LOVE PERCUSSION!
a!!!i like percussion ..!!!!
Good!!!
try looking for the neotaku mario medley too :D
lol look at the lady grooving to da beat
theres actually a term for that. it's called Double Mallet.
thx
no.
its a great arrangement
its ok to have a few fun pieces.
its pretty challenging too
hi guys, good job. loved the performance. where can I get this arrangement? love to play it with my ensemble
They didn't have long to practice, and the first vibraphone actually arranged this entire piece. No need for vibrato on a Mahito Yokota piece.
@drumlegend1 dude drummernick34 is right i play the damn thing and there are many ways to play it i havent played in 8 years but i remember some stuff
@cyberjar88 That's bass and they kind of need it.
coooooolllllllllllll
@cyberjar88 If you want to get extremely technical, your fingers strike the string making the noise.
and im talking about the tamberine
Actually, the term is Four Mallet. Double Mallet implies that there are two mallets total, one in each hand.
thumbs up if u go to altona
it sounded great anyway.

Christian Bucher (percussion teacher & Music School Director)
not that hard, but it is a crowd pleaser. A percussion ensemble that i'm in might actually be doing this! keep it up
i appreciate yr ensemble. i really want to buy the sheet music. would u ask yr director where u can buy it?
i agree
yeah desoan... they probably could own any high school percussion ensemble... because they r a college percussion ensemble
Has anyone found the music for this?
as easy as this? are you kidding? this is hard as $hit!
im not given them 5 freakin starz not even 4 or 3 id care thats 5 is the limit im givin them a 9
I always feel like it's kind of cheating when you have to bring in a bass guitar...but I still loved it! :D
How do you feel about electric bass in a percussion ensemble? Is it anything like having a horn in a woodwind quintet?
is it possible to get the score of this outstanding arrengment or where could I get this score or how?
Someone needs to tell that accesory player to mellow out! His shakers and tambourine is freakin' loud! Y'all need to work on balance and hittin' the right notes. So much for a college ensemble...
what's that plate thing that the guy in the middle is using 3:05?
Do u Where i can get the scores for xylophone for this song ??
what instrument is the middle guy holding at 3:07 onwards? the round one.
prejebeno!!!!
11 people does not know the meaning of music. x)
awesome!
Sounds great, would of sounded even better if it had a steel drum or two in the mix for the melody and harmony.
@cyberjar88 you could count it if you were playing it percussive style, but that guy wasn't.
"Kart" is with a "K."
is this available to buy anywhere?
Hey there, how may I get the score for this from the composer?
how r any of these people ignorant
this is a better veiw 4:10
why is everyone like dancing X_X LOL
Why do all of these percussion videos look like they were shot using an eggplant as a camera?
get a steel pan drum!
@DglMaster2012 It still doesn't belong in the ensemble.
@Tyranus1 The majority of the rest of the instruments were what counted, IMO, so it's just something that should be let go of.
The song does better for it regardless.
