Hi, loved your video review! I sure would agree with "Pool It" being bottom of the list, and "Headquarters" at the top. I also rank "Christmas Party" down near the bottom too. Personally I think "Instant Replay" was a more enjoyable album than "Head" or "Birds and Bees". In retrospect, I don't think "Justus" was a very good album, the attraction was simply that it was "Just the Monkees" - all four of them, together. My top favorites would be "Headquarters", "More", "Pisces", and "Instant Replay". You overlooked the "Live 1967" album which is a good album too. Thanks a lot for this fun presentation!!!
I think Pisces etc. is my favorite with Headquarters a close second. Every track on Pisces is a gem but Headquarters has great tracks such as "You Just May be the One", "Shades of Grey" and "Randy Scouse Git." I've never heard "Pool It."
"Pisces" is an excellent choice for no.1 Mary !!! Yeah, that's a pretty good and very popular Monkees album !!! Also love those songs you mentioned from "Headquarters", they're my favorites for me too !!! Regarding "Pool it", it just sounds too commercial to me: that's the last album I bought from their discography just to complete my whole collection !!! Thanks a lot Mary !!!
as far as I am concerned, HEAD ranks at the very top regarding the best Monkees album ever released. in particular; the Rhino Handmade box set is a must-have
Well, I watched most of the Monkees rankings on the net and it's very different from a ranker to another ranker !!! I think most of the people ranked 'Head' at no.4 or no.5 !!! Some people ranked it lower while other people ranked it higher but in general it makes the top 5 !!! Personnally, I think they should have put more ''real songs'' (instead of the dialogues fragments) on it cos there are only 6 ''real'' songs !!! That being said, I think it's still a good album cos those 6 real songs in question are pretty good !!! Now I never heard the box set you mentionned but I'll check out !!! Thanks Timothy !!!
My faves 1. More of The Monkees. 2. Instant Replay. 3. Headquarters 4. Pisces 5. The Monkees 6. Head 7. Good Times 8. Birds Bees 9. Present 10. Justus 11. Christmas Party 12. Changes 13. Pool it
I would rank Good Times a little higher. Its a modern record that sounds as good as their first 5 releases . Really Good songs they even play some of the instruments.
True, "Pool It" sucks hard. One or two decent tracks, but too much syrupy 80s synth. "Justus" was lousy too. Its songs were subpar. "Good Times" should be higher; it's better than "Instant Replay."
BEST 3: HEAD, HEADQUARTERS and JUSTUS. Least interesting/crassly commercial: The first 2 (with some exceptions) . Worst cover(s) almost all of them. Seems like---with the exception of HEAD and PAC&J----they never put much effort into their albums' visual presentation. Who or what in the world inspired anyone to call one of their albums THE BIRDS, THE BEES AND THE MONKEES? The only thing worse than that?----the cover "art". Just an opinion that may be out of sync with general consensus. Or not.
I think PAC&J is definitely their best album cover. And, yeah that's true an album title like "The birds, the bees and the monkees" may sounds rather cheesy than innovative haha !! Thanks for your opinion RSEFX !!
Didn't like Justus Or Pool It. Didn't feel like the Monkees kind of music For me At the moment is: 10. Changes (1970) 9. Christmas Party (2018) 8. Instant Replay (1969) 7. Present (1969) 6. Good Times (2016) 5. Birds Bees and Monkees (1968) 4. Head (1968) 3. Pisces Aquarius etc (1967) 2. More Of The Monkees (1966) 1b. Monkees Debut (1966) 1a. Headquarters (1967)
@@rrrockfrog2702 what I've always liked about the first 3 albums of The Monkees is that it shows their first album as a Television band, 2nd album they're becoming a band and by their 3rd album they're a real band
@@mrrocknroll5284 Agree with you !! These 3 albums show their evolution and I like the fact they played on most of the songs (or all the songs) from their 3rd album and also wrote (at least) half of the songs from that one showing they "really" could do things by themseves !!! That was a "real" big step !!!
pisces is by far the best album every single song on it is incredible
I can' t argue cos it's a very good album of course and it's the most popular choice for sure as The Monkees' best !!! Thanks AdewStudios1 !!!
