A technique that I use with frogs, is to cast the frog onto the bank, then drag it into the water. I've had several times where the bass will attack the frog before it's all the way in the water. Another thing I'll do is in heavily matted weeds. I'll make a really long cast, then do a steady retrieve. The bass will blow up on it, usually missing the first time. I'll then cast the frog just beyond the hole made in the thick mat. I'll bring the frog into that hole, and let it sit, sometimes shaking it. The bass will come back and take it more often than not.
I treasure every minute..my time is special...your vids NEVER waste my time ! Thank you for your time your passion shines through no matter the topic .
I learned from I think a Jimmy Houston video years ago to throw your bait right up on shore if you can. I started throwing my spinnerbaits up on shore and swimming them into the water. I can’t tell you how many bass I’ve caught where they almost swam completely out of the water to get it. I live up north so we have toothy critters too. I was out one time in the middle of summer on a big flat covered with a bunch of bluegill beds. All the sudden out from under the boat about a 15lb Tiger Muskie swam by in a foot of water. He was cruising for bluegills. Scared the hell out of me lol.
I go one one thousand after the strike set the hook like it owes me money and drag him out. If you miss throw a follow up worm asap you’ll catch that fish or a different one.
Also gotta reel down that slack before you set it. Bass don't let the frogs go, so if they got it, they got it. Setting the hook on slack braid though will generally just snap the frog out of their mouth without hooking up.
Strike king frogs are terrible in my opinion. Randy, check out the Deps Buster K frog for smaller frogs. I catch fish on frogs 6 months out of the year. The deps is ready to go right out of the package and the hookup ratio is 99% in my experience. I'm an oklahoma fisherman. Thanks for the content.
Frogs, and any topwaters make me think of my dad, one time I saw him tossing up on the bank then working this frog right near the bank and I said "WHAT are you doing?" He said - "Just keep watchin' " well I did and it wasn't too long and.. yep big ol' bass not huge but around a 4-5 pounder grabbed that frog. Dad said , "any thing you toss out there, try to work it in the same way and the same places it would naturally move or be. Frogs hang out around the banks and so do a lot of fish, so work a frog where frogs would be" Thank you Randy for more knowledge, and also bringing back a memory.
Thanks for sharing. You didn’t mention anything about trimming the skirts but it looks like the ones you showed had been trimmed by 50%. Also, no popping frogs. I find that I like to throw those as I can walk or pop them like a pop-r.
Trimming the skirts doesn’t work too well on walking frogs. The longer skirts help to add resistance and slow down the pace at which the bait comes back.
Thank you Randy...Always blessed to get tips from you! I never thought I was doing frog fishing correctly...thanks for the tip! Between you and Matt Stefan's tips, I could become a Pro...Yeah, maybe 30-35 years ago...too late now unless they have a Senior Fishing Tour! They should😉😊
I use bright yellow frogs so I can see them. They're white underneath. Works well for me, caught bass in all kinds of conditions. I used to throw natural looking frogs and had a harder time seeing them in lily pads.
At the start of the video you’ll notice a thing that says view products at the bottom of the screen. It only stays on for like five seconds. All you have to do is push that icon and it takes you to the products. You might have to restart the video if you miss it. Thank you
Love frog fishing. We got ALOT of grass and different types in my area of Western Pennsylvania in fact just about every Lake but one that I can think of. I love throwing a frog. And yes I will click everytime I watch a video
I enjoyed the video, but I differ in opinion on colors somewhat. I’m a kayak guy. I mainly fish clear rivers, but also will fish ponds and lakes from clear to tannic. I have had great luck with bright colors in all different water clarities. The frog is my ultimate confidence bait. I seem to kill em on it! There is nothing better than blowups on a frog. Period! I also love it because you get to really swing on ‘em when they bite. I try to break their jaw. I mean I flat out CRACK EM when I set the hook! Thanks for this video, Randy!
Been creek fishing for bass the last few days....I threw everything in the box at them....crystal clear water so I could literally see them.... started using power bait worms and started crushing them......oh the relief
Are you serious?…. Really? You get pissed off because an ambulance or fire vehicle uses their siren to aid in the helping of someone….. cmon man!!! What if it was your family or relative that was needing emergency help…. You need to chill out or move into a cave because lawn mowers, cars, trucks, everything bugs you I guess your lawn mower and truck and boat don’t make a fricken sound Cmon man….
Alright Randy, Answer why do most so many baits have color from the sides up to top of lures and the bottom of the baits are white?? Are Bass really seeing all of the bait colors?? It seems to me, looking from under the bait up to the lures, fish would mostly see the white of the lure. Thanks
Right at the start of the video in the bottom left-hand corner it says view products. You can click on that it only stays up about five seconds so if you miss that you might have to restart the video
@@randyblaukatintuitive okay you’re correct I see it Randy. I was listening while driving home from the gym * which you helped inspire me to do after your video about lifting weights* what a great way to support content creators.
I love fishing frog in the rivers around my house, I have grass, pads and cypress trees to throw at. The problem is I have yet to get on a good frog bite, I might get two or three blow ups a day. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I wish Megabass would make a smaller version of the big gabot 👍
I just got my new frogs Yesterday from t,w, love casting into flooded willows with top water.,it’s all about Perch here, your batting a thousand with the noise in the background. Is it a frog or just a food opportunity,
You’re probably right but for some reason titles are everything. If I put in there something like tips for fishing a frog, nobody will watch the video. It’s really weird deal

Same here. I cast on banks and ease them in. If there is a fish there they'll chew it. They watch the banks.

Randy you are the best started watching a year ago and you just remind me of my ole man so much…always rootin for you man

It's crazy how much we all learned from Jimmy, Bill Dance and Roland Martin. I still use some of the tips from those guys.
thanks for the good tips one of my favorite lures is the frog 🐸
Love frog 🐸 fishing , April and May they were exploding on my frog. I just couldn't stick em . I'm working on it. Thanks.
Gotta give em a split second before you send it home

Up size your hook 😉

Pause for a second or more, almost until you "feel" the strike. Don't set the hook instantly upon seeing the strike.

To me, the only thing a bass can "see" is the bottom part of the frog. So, what other differences actually make a difference?
I've been asking myself that question for a very long time. That's how I choose my color, I don't worry about any other part of the frog.
I use bright yellow frogs so I can see them. They're white underneath. Works well for me, caught bass in all kinds of conditions. I used to throw natural looking frogs and had a harder time seeing them in lily pads.
Yep, the top catches us, the bottom and skirt type legs catch the bass.
Clarification on the ad button you talked about

Your frog box looks great. Most of the time my frog legs get all messed up and mold to the shape it was laying. What's the trick?
Clicked on all the products mate!
Thx man!
Thanks Randy for the background sirens!! Like I told you, the other video just wasn't the same without something to interrupt 🤣

Why a palmar knot over a loop knot? I seem to get more action with a slightly longer legs and a loop knot
Only 5% huh! Guess we are all a bunch of dummies
I don’t see any products in the drop down menu. Can someone please explain or am I just that dumb lol

Hey Randy I live in the Beaver a lake region. I know you are familiar with the area. Where would be the best frog bite lake around here?
Northern Pike up here like the bright colored

If you just read all the video titles you put out, nobody knows how to fish anything…
You’re probably right but for some reason titles are everything. If I put in there something like tips for fishing a frog, nobody will watch the video. It’s really weird deal
